Do you have to be a registered Republican to be a national delegate?

So I am trying to become one of the 10 remaining delegates for the state of Illinois for the national convention...
most of the 73 delegates were chosen through the primary process, but there are 10 spots available and they accept letters from those interested..... it's a long shot, but I'm a college student and first time voter, so I'm hoping that maybe the interest and enthusiasm of a young new person might give me an advantage...
anyways, does anyone know if you have to be a registered Republican to be a delegate?
Thanks!

Illinois doesn't have a caucus... there are still 10 delegates they have to pick people for...
Short answer
Yes. You are representing the Republican Party of Illinois, you are going there on their behalf. You have to be one of them.

Yes, you must be registered Republican.
This was the first thing I asked when I went through the criteria. I was a bit dazed and confused after Super Tuesday wonder what was next. My research revealed that this is a must.
P.S. Yes, I hate this non-constitutional party system too.
