Poll: How will Ron Paul supporters vote if he is not nominated by the Republican Party?

Our voice counts: http://www.youpolls.com/details.asp?pid=764

Is there any room for Anti-War sentiment within the GOP.

Across the country, other Republican lawmakers who have broken with over the war are under fire from party loyalists.

"Republicans have to be cognizant of where their base is," said pollster Bob Wickers, whose company has worked with Republican candidates in a dozen states in recent years.

Here is the way I read the poll, the Republican stand to lose a whole lot if they do not capitalize on Ron Paul. No one in the Republican party generates as much enthusiasm as Ron does, because of the message. The poll clearly show a big percentage of people will not vote for the Republicans.

Non Violence

If this would happen ( which we all are trying real hard not to let happen), Then we'll have to take it to the streets and take our country back.

Hopefully it will stay non-violent. :)

Ron Paul is preaching Libertarian party line...

for the most part... We missed Ron Paul the first time, we missed Harry Browne, I won't miss another one. Not when I have found all of you out there supporting the same ideas.

I will only vote Libertarian from now on (except of couse for RP).

And so I will not participate in that poll since it completely excludes our real option.

Voting Libertarian

There are no suitable GOP candidates except for Ron Paul most definitely not the so called Top 4. I really hope Mr. Paul changes his mind if the nomination is missed. I would hope he would run as an independent or may on the LP ticket. I would consider a RP write in campaign as well. But let's focus on winning some primaries first!!

Cheers!

write him in...

...if you can still do that. ??

For me...

there's no second choice. It's Ron or nothing.

Do you KNOW how to become a Delegate for Ron Paul? -- Do it!

And Republicans..........

Need to know where the hell America's base is! 71% of it!

Oh, and take that poll and shove it.....we don't accept losers around here.

I hate 'what if', but....

I would probably vote Badnarick. There is only one Ron Paul but there is a whole party of Libertarians. The word Libertarian is being bandied about more and more and so is the idea of a 3rd party. We have to think beyond the next 8 years and the presidency.

Honor knows no party.....well, I mean except the Libertarian party!

Eye on the Prize

Spend every waking moment trying to have Ron Paul win the various primaries. Forgetaboutit on the what if's? Please no more negative thoughts. Ron Paul is going to be the next President of the United States Keep your eye on this prize because it will happen.

It's Ron Paul (there can be no other alternative)

I have registered to vote for the very first time in over 35 years. In all of that time (for me) there has never been one SOB worth voting for. That is until Ron Paul came along. He literally brings tears to my eyes whenever I hear him speak. He is the bravest man that I have ever seen and a true American hero. All of the candidates put together would not amount to a single hair on Ron Paul's behind. If Ron Paul does not the nomination this country can put it's head between it's legs and kiss it's ass good-bye. I will still write in Ron Paul's name if I have to and thereafter send my voter registration card back to the county recorder in shreds.

I will say this much. We have one shot at this and only ONE. So, if there are any procrastinators sitting on the sidelines waiting to see which way the wind will blow before lending their support, they had better make their move pretty damn quick. I know money is tight these days, very few can afford $2,300, but EVERYBODY can afford a lousy $8.00/week, every week until the primaries. If all his supporters did this he would hit his $12 million target with ease. Get busy dammit!!! Losing is NOT AN OPTION!!!!

A hot subject !

You ask a good question which, for many, is unthinkable. It reminds me of a sweatshirt a cheerleader once wore, How Can We Lose When We're So Sincere?

But a better question might be, what will the Ron Paul Supporters do if he fails to win the nomination or the presidency? This is not being negative; this is being realistic: it could happen. As most of us know, there are powerful behind-the-scenes people with influence, corruptible voting machines, and people who feel as passionately about their candidate as we feel about Dr. Paul.

What has been significant, however, is the tremendous passion among the supporters. The Paul supporters have changed American politics in many ways and, as a group, we have vast, untapped power. Dr. Paul will not go away; he knows he has a very strong base of support. This site is a great place, a virtual meet-up group, and perhaps it will continue to be a rallying base down the road, regardless of the outcomes. The main thing is to stick together and keep putting the message out.

Do NOT Vote in this POLL

Do NOT Vote in this POLL ! We are focusing only on getting Ron Paul Elected and nothing further. The options sound like something the GOP wants to know for it's own use. I say Don't Vote let them guess what we will do.

TEXAN4RP

It used to be a free country...

and should at least be a free revolution. I admire your laser-focused devotion, Texan4RP, but maybe the tone of your posts here are a little extreme. Taking the 10 seconds to take the "poll" as an aside isn't doing any harm. I seriously doubt the discussions are damping anyone's enthusiasm.

I think the poll might be of some use to us if the GOP is looking at it. The roughly 2-1 majority of people saying RP or no GOP might be good, if the GOP strategists have any brians whatsoever (though I admit that is doubtful). We know Paul is the only person who can beat Hillary. The GOP lay person really does subscribe to the "anyone but Hillary" model, which is why Giuliani is popular in the base. They hate him (except for the warmongers who see nothing but Islamo-farcism at every 7-11) but they hate Clinton more. So, Joe and Jean Blow hold their nose and vote for Giuliani. If the Paulites grow and get double digits in polls, but everyone knows we're going home if Paul isn't the nominee, Paul will begin to get the support of the conservative GOP fascist (i.e naturally pro-Giuliani) wing because he's better than Hillary. That is how we convert the "mainstream" GOP to nominating Paul.

Maybe, maybe not. But its worth 5 seconds to vote on the poll saying that the Paulites will defect from the GOP. Take a look at the "religious right" threatening to defect and the publicity its getting. Someone sooner or later will see that Hillary will only be defeated if someone can bridge the gap and bring together the GOP again. Ron Paul is that man, the only man, that can do this. And he's libertarian! The best subgroup of the GOP!

Giuliani is the last shot of the neocons. Check out National Review's pathetic attempts to convince the "religious right" that Giuliani is in their best interests. They aren't convincing ANYBODY! As soon as people know about Paul, they'll flock in droves. Except the neocons, but their power relies totally on scare-mongering and cheap tricks. The exclusiveness of Paul's supporters will bring GOP mainstreamers to understand they can only win with Paul. The inclusiveness of Paul's message will convert those led to him by necessity into dedicated supporters of freedom for everybody!

The poll is fine. Let the people do what they want.

bigmikedude's picture

I didn't

There is no appropriate answer, when your forced to pick between death and mega death.

AMEN

What kind of choices are those? I think we should only focus like a laser on giving RP the Republican nomination and deal wit a what if when it happens. No need to waste energy and resources on this. What is next, chippin for new party at the expense of RP's campaign that desperately needs money.

ALright I'm getting MAD!

I've about had it with these topics about WHAT IF!!!!
STOP IT !!!! I don't know who put this topic on but it had better STOP !!!
We are in this to get RON PAUL ELECTED and that is it !

If someone wants to speculate what we will do. Well, all I can say is take it somewhere else. We don't need you !

No more Blog crap like this please!!!!!!!

i disagree

I didn't vote in the poll and I doubt many people on here did vote in the poll, because the two options were ridiculous, but the link to the poll and the discussion in this thread are both on topic. And I thank PollM for posting the link. This forum description: "For anything and everything about Dr. Ron Paul, his campaign and related current events"

this why so many polls are meaningless....

as if there are only TWO likely options?!

I will NOT vote for anyone unless they are against the war and against this corrupt govt. If RP doesn't get the GOP nomination and makes it on the NY ballot anywhere, I will vote for him... or write his name in!
Barring those options, it would have to be Kucinich (remember Ron Paul mentioned Kucinich -in the NH town hall i think - when asked whom he would vote for if he wasn't running... and since they are friends RP would know)

HOWEVER, I have faith that he WILL get the nomination.

And if he doesn't, I will have no doubt Diebold had something to do with it.

Witness the POWER of an IDEA - the MASSIVE Ron Paul Rallies! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hgsg7a-Ok8Q

I'm hopping you will work

I'm hopping you will work harder, and be part of the effort of getting him to run as an Independent.

PollM

Yup, bad poll

However, if Dr. Paul doesn't get the nomination I'll likely stay home. I like the bumper sticker with the picture of Giuliani and Hillary that says, "We are so F-----d." Voting for the libertarain candidate? Maybe, though I know nothing about him.

Even if Paul does not get in, he has led me to recommit myself to the political beliefs of the Old Right. Also to realize that I have a good deal of common cause with those of the so-called New Left. Never thought that would happen! I guess I'd go back to reading Chronicles, LewRockwell.com, and Ludwig von Mises. Maybe try to enter Republican politics as a new-Old Right libertarian on a county or state level.

My hopes for the RP Revolution? We stay together as a force for freedom politically. There must be those of us around with a desire to enter politics and emulate Dr Paul. As a group, we can all stay in the Republican party and re-establish the Robert Taft wing, or all go en masse to the Libertarian party. The Establishment complaints we've been getting saying we're not "real" republicans (read - neocons) be damned! The GOP is in desperate need of a good culture shift. The revolution can make that happen. The main thing is the message of freedom and for the Revolution to continue to champion it.

I don't think speculating about the future is defeatist. Dr Paul will win. This is just a thought exercise!

LOL...as if ...

this would be the Cartoon scenario right? LMAO

RP is going to take the nomination .... and will wipe the floor with whoever the Dems choose in general election debates.

LMFAO at the nonsense thats been popping up here.

the poll options aren't reasonable

I'll definitely vote. I'll probably write in the name Ron Paul even if he's not running at all. Although I might consider voting for a third party candidate, perhaps the Libertarian nominee.

If RP is not nominated...

this CAMPAIGN IS LIKE NO OTHER IN HISTORY.
Even Dr. Paul acknowledges that there is a revolution going on and thanks US for inviting him.
This campaign is boiling from the bottom up.
With the GOP in the various states moving up their primaries and caucuses in what appears to be a ploy to prevent Dr. Paul's nomination, we see deadlines for party affiliation changed before people have even learned or heard of Dr. Paul.
What's more is you all know how much procrastination there is in this country, then after they have missed the bus say... gosh if i had only known... I WOULD HAVE.....
Even if we can see that it's not going to happen by July or Aug., It DOESN'T HAVE TO STOP.
we can start a new campaign.
Write-IN RON PAUL!

But right now lets keep focused, work hard to get that nomination.

THAT'S MY 2 CENTS.

no write in option?

I agree - I don't like that there were only two options. The lame part is, the democrats won't even end the war!! Why would we join democrats in 'ending the war' when they aren't going to?! If, all things being equal, neither will end the war, why would I vote for the most socialist candidate in history?

Libertarian! I'm sure Paul

Libertarian! I'm sure Paul will endorse the LP nominee if he doesn't get the GOP nomination (he endorsed Badnarik and Browne), and no doubt he'd prefer us all to vote LP rather than doing a Ron Paul write-in or not voting at all.

All a moot point anyway, since Dr. Paul is going to get the nomination.

Oh, and that's a stupid poll for having only those two choices.

NEWS ITEM IN TODAY'S PAPER
75 year old woman took out frustration at Comcast office. Returning with a hammer she smashed a keyboard, knocked over a monitor...and went to hit the telephone.

She was charged with disorderly conduct. Was given a suspended sentence and had to pay a $345 fine.

Maybe I'd take a hammer with me to vote. Diebold here I come!

LOL--just joking--really wouldn't do this but was first thing that came to my mind when asked the question.

I am tired of voting for the

I am tired of voting for the lesser of two evils, I will write in the only candidate that I see fit to hold office, that is Ron Paul.

The one and only...

Considering the choices, ie. Hillary or (Insert neo-con here), there are no other options. Ron Paul is our only shot and he WILL run as third party if it comes to that...but I don't think it will.
