Republican Party Census
Apparently, I was chosen to represent my precinct in the RNC Census. It's pretty cool that my opinions will be registered in official GOP literature. "Because it is cost-prohibitive for the Republican Party to print and mail an official REPUBLICAN PARTY CENSUS to each and every one of the 62,000,000 Republicans nationwide, your answers will represent the views and opinions of ALL Republican voters living in your voting district."
Did anyone else receive this letter?

I also get to fill out this survey:

I am currently reading 1984 again, and there is quite a bit of doublespeak contained in my letter.
I love the first question: Should Republicans do everything they can to prevent liberal Democrats from repealing the USA Patriot Act and other important laws that help our intelligence agencies protect America?
There are some questions that they phrase specifically looking for affirmative answers:
*Do you agree that our top military priority should be fighting terrorists?
*Should Republicans unite to keep our pro-growth achievements from the past seven years intact by blocking new federal government bureaucracy and red tape? (how do you answer that one?)
A few other good questions:
*Do you support economic sanctions against North Korea and Iran to stop their nuclear weapons programs?
*Do you agree that sowing the seeds of democracy and freedom in the Middle East is a worthy goal?
Of course they asked for money (every other line of the letter). Of course I didn't give them any.

in the words of
Ron "Dr.NO" Paul,,,,, vote no on everything,,,,,,
I've got fuzzy brain
from too much phone canvassing. I can't even get my head around this one.
Should Republicans unite to keep our pro-growth achievements from the past seven years intact by blocking new federal government bureaucracy and red tape?
Some of them remind of Lou Dobbs' obvious questions. "Are babies cute?"

Since you asked...
I got it about a month ago:
http://www.dailypaul.com/node/28722
I received the same survey
I added notes to most of my answers.
1. should Republicans fight to invade countries that help terrorists (or something to that effect)? --- NO, not without a Declaration of War
2. should Republicans fight Democrats to renew the Patriot Act --- NO, it is unConstitutional.
3. Will I support sending Republicans to Congress --- NO, I will not support any Big Government, War Mongers.
That is pretty much how I sent it back. This is the third or fourth I've received in the past year. I always send them back with these type answers and no money. At least it will cost them the postage for the reply.

One of my friends received one, too
he mentioned that some of the questions were leading and/or double-speak, but didn't remember specifics.
Don't you hate surveys like that? At least it gives you an idea what the 'party line' is about, doesn't it?
We're both in the RP149 (Spokane, Washington) meetup group.

Great to post the questions, but what I want to know, is how
you responded?
As any good Ron Paul supporter would
Honestly!
Most of them should be pretty obvious how I answered. I gave them exactly what they didn't want to hear for the Homeland Security and Defense issues. I gave into the Economic issues (I agree with what they preach, not what they do.) There were not enough Domestic issue questions, but the ones they provided, I gave them what they wanted. I am thinking about enclosing a letter explaining my positions. I just don't want them to throw away my census card.

My response to the "survey"
I replaced the "survey" and returned it with my note "If you really want to know what I believe, this is it!", attached to a printout of Ron Paul's positions on the issues from the www.ronpaul2008.com website.
That's a better response
I wonder if they really aren't surveying anyone, considering the sillyness of the questions. I wonder if it's just about making people want to go ahead and mail it, but, at the same time, making it really convenient to slip some donations in.
Defend Liberty!
Oh and at the end
I fill out my level of support:
1. Make a donation
2. Make a donation to cover the cost of the census ($11)
3. "No, I favor electing liberal Democrats over the next 10 years."
