It's time to grow up. (don't click here, let it die)

This post was left in a moment of discouragement and anger. No doubt feelings many of us here have had. I might add, as expected, it drew alot of scorn and repudiation. Some of us here need to learn to not attack those of us who show cracks in our armour and rather inspire and support our ranks.

It's time to grow up as a Movement for change and leave Ron Paul behind as a rightful Hero, Martyr or Icon for the cause.

Many of you will be angry for what I have to say, but that’s OK. I intend to speak my mind. Please tell me why I should not feel duped by the National Campaign's simulated run for President.

I have just visited the Ron Paul for Congress site and reviewed the Media produced by that campaign. It occurs to me that Dr. Paul NEVER intended to succeed in his National Campaign and wishes to keep his old job. I can understand this sentiment and can't really blame him for it. I just wish it wasn't so obvious.

These radio ads for the Congressional run are far better than ANYTHING produced for the National campaign! Did they think the rest of the country doesn't think like the 14th District of Texas? By changing a half a dozen words these ads could have been far more effective in spreading the word about Dr. Paul than any of the drivel that dripped out of the National Campaign. Period.

Hear for yourself: (not the video - the radio ads)
http://www.ronpaulforcongress.com/html/radio.html

I feel we need to start redirecting our efforts to developing a Political Platform and organize a Party, join an existing Alternate Party, or commit to a inside coup of the GOP.

Ron Paul for all of his principled ideals and practices is no longer my choice for Change. Don't get me wrong, I'll still probably write him in come election day, but only in protest.

It's time to grow up as a movement and stop chasing what will never be.

If I am missing something, please fill me in.

Lastly I would like to say the above post was poorly worded and very negative. My intention was really to encourage discussion about what we can do to ensure Ron Pauls message does not get forgotten as a footnote and fade away.

Many will never give up, many have always fought, but there is a majority here who will fade away if Ron Paul does not get the nomination. We need to prevent that.

I apologize for being negative, but every good discussion has two sides or more.

DEBBIE DOWNER

I know this post was not meant to be negative. I am 100% on board with those that want to continue freedom and liberty, elect political officials who convey Ron's message, etc. But I didnt even vote yet. For those who didnt vote yet, posts like these bring us, well atleast me, down. If this was posted in September after the convention, I would bump this post, but lets atleast wait until somehting happens. And we have a final answer. I know Ron Paul isn't going to be THE ONE who changes this country( he'll need his cronies), but if elected, he will wake up the American public.. Also, I think the reason why Ron advertised so much better in Texas is because he doesn't want to lose his day job, which is totally understandable. I will continue to fight for Ron as the PA primary approaches...Let's show everyone that we aren't crazy Paulites, and carry at this message until is delivered.

The revolution has been building for a long time,

and it will continue long after November. We must stay united regardless of the outcome.

"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen." - Samuel Adams

"The Matrix is a system, Neo. That system is our enemy...You have to understand most of these people are not ready to be unplugged. And many of them are so inert so hopelessly dependent on the system that they will fight to protect it." -- Morpheus

the man, the movement, or the message?

I will be more gracious than to call you a troll, but frankly this line of criticism that I see here ever couple days - which attempts to disassociate the Man from the movement and the message is at least a little upsetting.
It's often implied that Ron Paul has done his part and now the movement has begun, it's our job to carry the message... etc... And while I agree that we are indeed the future of the movement, I think all of us owe a great deal to Ron Paul -
it's inconceivable to me that most of us have literally had our lives and minds and hearts transformed because of this man - and yet we can imply that Ron Paul is a thing of the past.

Statements that seem to suggest that Ron Paul was never in it to win, have the flipside of implying that he lied to the country. You might not think so, but that's what it suggests. And therefore I'll disagree.

And to suggest that those of us who disagree need to "grow up" - well, remaining as a fervent supporter of Ron Paul until November and beyond is a matter of principle and loyalty, not immaturity. Rather, the sign of immaturity are all those fair-weather fans, that just criticize and criticize and never offer anything constructive nor are they themselves productive.

Yes, indeed, we're part of a larger movement... But I came into this movement thru Ron Paul. I decided in September of last year that I support him, and he is still in the race, so he's still my candidate. I will not support nor vote for Hillary, Obama, Huckabee, McCain, or Nader. When I became a supporter of Ron Paul I disavowed my inclination to vote for least-evil or most-popular. I embrace the idea of voting on principle. I supported Ron on principle and will continue to support him on principle.

Finally, it's not just the message and movement. The message is made beautiful and the movement has credibility because of the Man. My life is not attractive nor worthy of this great message of freedom and virtue. The message is attractive because of the messenger. A rougue and scoundrel could have carried the same message and turned off many people - A buffoon could have led the movement and destroyed it long ago. Give Ron Paul some more credit than that.

So I'm sorry, but I don't agree with you.

I meant for this post to sink into oblivion but

your post is exactly the type of response I was trying to elicit. Actual discussion.

I would like to point out a common misinterpretation of "grow up". The term is used to refer to the movement, not individual supporters. The movement, or organization of supporters, needs to begin to build a coalition based on Ron Paul's message that will survive a successful, or failed, bid for the Presidency.

The work that goes on within the Ron Paul Movement is incredible and certainly historic. I am seeking some confirmation there will be something to follow after this Presidential effort has passed. Once the goal has been achieved, or not, there may not be time to build a new momentum towards a new goal. Interest may wain and all but a few of us may be left to try and rebuild what was lost. I don't want this to happen.

I understand there are many efforts being made to do exactly what I am looking for but the efforts are still grassroots and unorganized. I'd like to see an official long term Strategy and Platform for Ron Paul Republicans, a common forum, like this one, to discuss these issues. I don't mean to say this isn't happening, but if it is I cannot see it yet.

Respectfully,
TheTDK

I agree whole heartedly

Ron Paul has the message and is the leader we need,...but his presidential campaign has/and is being run by a bunch of smucks!

Did you all see the first couple of TV ads the "official" campaign produced?? ...I thought it was a joke when I saw them, many of you did as well. Then to hear the news yesterday that Kent Synder the campaign manager is making $48,000 a month! i mean, thats total bullshit for a grassroots campaign, that guy is scum. what a great campaign he has run so far, lets see...advising to NOT challenge the New Hampshire recount,....we lost have of our momentum right there form that alone.

Makes me think if his campaign has been infilltrated and is being purposefully run against Ron Pauls best interests.

we all need to think about that, because thats sure what it looks like is happening

A nation of sheep will beget a government of wolves.

troll
been gone for awhile huh?about a week wheres noelle and slapshot and the many others?long time since we have been under attack, what happened you privates thought you had beat RPR and then started to and were probably yelled at by your superiors that the RON PAUL REVOLUTION is alive as ever and not going anywhere watch now we get new names to replace the dozen or so trolls that magically disappeared last week or they will just play more games with themselves and they also probably think its working!LOLLOLLOLLOL!!!good LUCK wit dat!

i agree.

just today we got an email from the state campaign manager about going thru the delegate process NOT to be delegates but to get our planks in. their email made sure to kill any last hope i had for ron paul.

im on to supporting the movement. the, we the people, movement.

E Pluribus Unum...

No to inspiring.

Inspiritation and motivation are what is needed in OUR REVOLUTION.

There is a lot of time from here to the convention. LOTS of local, national, and world events to come. McCain does NOT have enough pledged delegates to win in the first round of elections on the convention floor. We do not know what the conditions will be at that time. Thus, we can not count the Doc out. We do have a march coming and we do need MORE supporters. That IS A FACT. Whatever we can do to ATTRACT new interest is beneficial to the movement. We NEED Dr. Paul in this to the convention. Otherwise, we loose our voice COMPLETELY. Besides, WE are the Revolution and WE need a voice in that convention. Unless you feel like demonstrating in a free speech zone outside the convention.

Does my burka make my butt look fatwa?

There is no way....

That THETDK is a true Ron Paul supporter. I have examined a lot of his past posts and he is always on the fence, and trying to sow discord.

With all that we know, there is still a chance that Ron Paul could win.

We have "undecided" delegates.

We have an economy which will probably nose dive before the election.

We have Bush desparately trying to start a war with Iran.

All of these things give me hope that Ron Paul could win and restore the Republic.

A good friend of mine, told me that if Ron Paul wins, it will be because God interceded. And with all that I have seen thus far, I believe that God is helping the rEVOLution.

When was the last time there was a brokered convention? 50 years ago maybe.

Look at the competition. A phony preacher, and an "on the take" Senator with a shaky past.

If THETDK doesn't believe in Ron Paul then he should leave. Now is NOT the time to be trying to weaken the rEVOLution.

Sir

As much as I love Dr Paul, there is no way the GOP will allow him the nomination..that's just a cold hard fact...had we won some primaries, perhaps we would have had an outside chance...Either we addres the future or the movement will most likely die....and even if your worst case sceneraio comes to past, no one wants to be told "I told you so" when they are down

In your opinion, how is the

In your opinion, how is the future (i.e., the movement) not being addressed? You must not be on the same websites I am. Trust me, I am under no delusions about RP securing the nomination. But as the man himself has said (and somebody posted earlier), this whole thing is not just about HIM. It's about the revolution ... and you're starting to see it! Trevor Lyman's media company, people all over the country running for office as torchbearers for RP, meetup groups switching their focus to affecting change where they live ... *sigh*. It just irritates me to no end that people think that true Ron Paul supporters are just going to hang it up after the election. You all need to give us more credit than that.

personally

I think Dr Paul needs to define someone to be a candidate for 2012 and beyond

I wouldn't argue with that

I wouldn't argue with that ....

You know what,

If an economic depression, or new War with Iran starts before the election, then the GOP will embrace Ron Paul as the only candidate who could beat the Democrats. You guys may not believe it, but I do.

i can't agree

first I don't see anything like that happening "before" the election...A depression I don't see at all, however war with Iran is almost a certainty "after" the election.....And I think that timing may be designed to keep Ron Paul out of the WH..I think Mccain or Clinton would bomb Iran in a heartbeat..Obama I don't know, he's very hard to figure out !

Wait! Haven't I heard this before?

"Either your with us or against us!" GB

Your "eliteist" attitude prevents the masses from joining us.

You sir may be the troll.

Wahhhhhh!

OMG, knock it off already! Somebody in an earlier post (Independent4Hope?) made some pretty fair (and devoid of negativity, might I add) points about your original post in this thread. You have yet to respond to them.

By the way, when you respond to an insult in a like manner, you're no better than the person who made the original comment.

Why would they join you?

You said Ron Paul is no longer your choice for change.
Why are you here then. Leave us, go back to your Neocon friends.

It's not that simple Felix.

It's not that simple Felix. I agree with most of the poster's comments, especially regarding a competently fashioned media effort. The campaign fell down on the presidential run... hard. Don't prove to me and every thinking person that you are thick. Face it.

The next step...

...is to abandon politics altogether. All government is immoral, and politics is the science of government. We need to realize that trying to gain control of the Mafia and bring it down from the inside is not going to happen.

Come on now ....

Haven't you ever seen Donnie Brasco? Hee hee ....

As I think I posted

As I think I posted yesterday, this thing isn't just for this year, this is our future we're talking about! We need to unite now and tomorrow. I've grown up quite a bit thanks to this campaign. OK, I haven't been involved in it directly but I promise that my compromise is with the message of freedom. It's taught me about principles and that we can disagree or agree with others but without forgetting our principles. We may or may not win this thing but I'm proud to be part of this quixotic quest for our freedom. As part of a family that has had a fighter ever since the American Revolution (and ended with my dad in Vietnam even though my cousin Tim was in the reserves during the Gulf War), I'm willing to do the same thing. I couldn't fight for my country at war but I'm definitely fighting this thing with the rest of you in spirit. Even though I haven't seen my country physically since '96, I'm willing to give my country it's freedom and respect it deserves back. I just hope after this quest we could be united forever. Dr. Paul has taught me many things and I finally have an opinion on my own now. Hopefully when I come back in about 4 years, I'll be there with each and one of you. PEACE & LOVE from Chile.

Well said ..

Thanks for your post :-)

I have broken my own rules. But before I let this die . . . .

THANK YOU ALL

for caring so much about America.

I hope you can keep your enthusiasm about Peace, Freedom and Liberty for everyone.

I fear emptiness, or worse violence, will replace the movement when we don't get what we all are fighting so hard for.

Some will never give up. You are the core. Please don't let it fade away.

Thank you. Really.

Ron Paul is no longer your choice for change.

You F__king Troll. Leave us now and cancel your account. You better hope I never see you on the street you mutha!

Your disrespect is why they ridicule us.

I'd bet your one of those morons out there yelling at people for being so dumb. That helps.

This is for you. Grow up.

You want to talk about disrespect?

This forum is to help Ron Paul get elected.

See the rule #1.

This is why you made the post to begin with.

To stir the pot.

Divide and conquer.

It's very obvious.

LOL

Mutha -- I'm sorry, that cracked me up .....
