The Power of Focused Intention

Focused intention can be an amazingly powerful force for change. To some, it is prayer, either alone or among a group. To others, it may be contemplative thought about a person, sending healing energy, compassion or concern. Sometimes, simply thinking about a person in a positive way can bring about good results. Whether it is prayer, contemplative thought or something else - it is still energy that is being directed to a recipient. Therefore, using this remarkable ability to help Ron Paul seems like an untapped resource.

I know many supporters pray for Ron Paul's safety and that is a good idea. However, spending one full minute visualizing Ron Paul as president, restoring the Republic to sanity, could be very effective. Do not ask for help for Ron Paul, just picture the results as if they already happened (that is "The Secret" by the way; and it does work). You do not have to tell anybody, or organize anything. Just quietly picture—with focused intention—Ron Paul: in the Oval office, or being sworn in as President on the Capital steps, or any scenario that you can "see" happening. It is certainly worth a small effort, and may reap beneficial results.

I have revised this post a little. There have been some wonderfully supportive responses and some which are critical. Some of the links below are good and useful, particularly to those who are not familiar with this new area of scientific inquiry and study. Also, much of the work of Dr. Wayne Dyer ("You'll See It When You Believe It) is worth a look. Every so often I may put this piece up again; since not all of the Daily Paul readers catch everything. When it gets busy, blogs tend to whiz by.

In the the meantime, I hope you will take a moment, sit quietly and just see Dr. Paul as President. It will cost you nothing and is very much worth the effort.

Thought Creates Everything

If you would please read carefully, I would like to point out just how real the power of thought (prayer, best wishes, etc.) is.

The state of the world is where it is today because of the combined thoughts of all living things present, and all that came before it.
Even animals, plants, and the earth's "thoughts" create a force that have played a role. Indeed we are all connected; part of the one.

If one is one. If two is two. If x is x. Then:
Nothing is Nothing, and Everything is Everything.
This means we are everything.

Yes, the computer in front of you is a part of yourself, for everything you see and percieve, is truly an outward projection from within yourself, otherwise you would not contain the ability to decode and percieve it.

Since Nothing is Nothing and Everything is Everything, that also means:

Everything came from Nothing (light; void; formless energy).
The Everything that came frome Nothing started as pure Thought (Thot(h)).
Original thought is always pulled from the Blank; Void; Light; Formless Energy.

Thought has amazing power beyond what the masses could imagine, as the government would never wish for the people to learn of the true strength within their minds. With the power of thought (mind over matter), not only is it possible to do well in business, or in social life, but rain can be called down, objects moved by only looking at them, fires started through thought, people healed, levitation, and the mind is the limit. For most of this "magic" it takes years of disciplined meditation, and an esoteric understanding of how energy really works. However, telekinesis which uses thought-forms to work, is much harder than praying which also uses thought-forms to work.

Praying, while it's effectiveness is amplified by attaching a religion, is still not dependent on it. All you need to do is pray or send your wishes with a strong amount of emotion and seriousness connected to it. Visualize inside your mind the success happening. The larger the number of people that focus their thoughts on the same intention, the more powerfull that thought will have in making a difference. (This is why religions; collective thought, have more power).

Thought is a real energy, it is a real power, and it works. Please do not underestimate the power of thought, because everything came from thought.

Today is the Tea Party, send your money and your best heart-felt wishes to Ron Paul winning in 2008, as well as for his message to always keep spreading and never be forgotten. Visualize it within your mind.

I had this kind of experience

I was in Philadelphia on Nov 3rd -5th. One week before the Philly Rally.
We were scheduled to attend a Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame Induction for one of our uncles.

Just before we left for the airport the campaign sent out an email saying that due to excessively high fees ($184,000 for 3 hrs.) the rally venue was changed to Valley Forge Convention Center.

In the morning before I went to the Mall I was bummed out about the change of venue. While I was quiet God impressed upon me to just "Go before", like He was going to show me something if I would just be still and let Him be God.

We went on a tour bus to Independence Hall with about 50 Hall of Fame Inductees and their families.
When I arrived there I prayed that God would make a way to have the Ron Paul Rally at the Mall.

Later that evening around 10pm I checked my email at the hotel and the rally had been rescheduled for the Mall! The rest is history.

People who equate this with

People who equate this with a religious post are missing the point, there is nothing religious about focused intention. That being said, there are many examples of it in religions. Focused intention is merely a technique whereby you can affect the world around you. There have been scientific studies on the subject, and some have had amazing results. They are often undertaken by scientists out to DISPROVE the notion, and they are quite shocked at what they discover. Have you ever taken the time to marvel at your own consciousness? What is so special about the collection of atoms within our brain that we can have a meta-physical connection to the world? There are insanely smart scientists out there studying how it is that consciousness even can possibly exist, and the explanations all rely on super advanced quantum mechanics. The laws of quantum mechanics suggest that our consciousness ripples may be able to affect the world around us (eg. focused intention) via interactions on the quantum level. I'm not a physicist, but there have been studies done on this. Scientists out to prove that prayer does not do anything often find themselves saying that "there's something going on". That something may just be quantum ripples and not some "old bearded guy in the clouds", but the observations are real and we are fools to ignore it. Visualize success, and success will come to you.

Like attracts like

Thanks zenpiper. I'm sure we have room for a few more revolutionary ideas. :-). The Law of Attraction and goal achievement through visualization are very real. They work whether we understand them or not. Just look at all of us coming together creating the r3VOLution. Very exciting times on more than one front!

Thank you

.
I am happy the post got such good responses. I may write a little visualization, to be done simultaneously the night before the next debate. If it works, then great. If not, it's still a unifying activity.

Yes, as the Chinese man said, "We live in interesting times."

Law of Attraction

Wow I'm so glad to see this. I truely believe just based on the principles being discussed Ron Paul is the best candidate because he is on the side of truth, liberty & freedom. In fact I was discussing the Federal Reserve System, the legality of the IRS and other issues that in them selves can be depressing. He also tries to maintain a positive attitude (LOA, Tony Robbins, Dyer, The Secret...) He said that he would rather not know of these things since they can be a downer. However I told him that ignorance of the issues will not help him grow. He needs to learn how life is and still be positive and confident that he can use this info to help teach and empower others to exponentially change things for the better! Thats the way I feel and that is why I whole heartedly support Ron Paul!!!

Ron Paul in The White House, picture it, imagine it, beleive it!

Peace

I do this on my podcast. I

I do this on my podcast. I end every episode with a very short visualization. I always visualize something as if it's already happened, like he's already president, or accepting the party nomination, or something positive. I agree that it works. I started it because I was frustrated with seeing threads with titles like, "I love Ron Paul, but he's never going to win..." or something useless like that.

So, you get a full show of people talking about Ron Paul in a positive way and then a visualization. I would be honored if you all would check it out and maybe even call in. It's at http://ronpaulfancast.libsyn.com.

Diane

Envisioning, Zen

I envision Ron Paul making his acceptance speech. It starts: "this is a great day for America....thank you Americans, and especially the Revolution, for letting me help you as all of you have helped me. I will do everything within my power to honor the priviledge that you have provided."

Bob W., Naples, FL

Imagine President Paul with Focused Intention...

Thank you Zenpiper. I believe this truly is an important topic for discussion in order to get Ron Paul into the white house. I know that it has nothing to do with religion, as others have claimed, it has to do with the four Laws of the Universe: Attraction, Intention, Allowance and Balance. I’m sure there are those who may think this sounds weird. I would recommend that they treat this as an opportunity to learn more about it and use it in their daily lives. It is quite powerful! Here is a link to a free book called the “Handbook for the New Paradigm” that will explain it better:

http://www.nomorehoaxes.com/content/view/22/1/

I absolutely agree that we should all picture Ron Paul as the next President of the United States of America on a daily basis. Really! Imagine him as President Paul, with focused Intention. Thoughts manifest into reality, so be sure to focus on exactly what it is that you want. It is also important to have an overwhelming feeling of Love and Gratitude while you are seeing Dr. Paul as our President. Remember “Ron Paul r3VOLution”!

The Power of Focused Intention

Thank you Zenpiper for posting this. I agree with you completely. While this might sound outlandish to some people - I have read the naysayers comments below - I would encourage anyone who is interested in this phenomenon to investigate further. Ever since I was a young man, I've known that there is more to the world than meets the eye. This thought began while I was thinking of TV and Radio waves. They are all around us, in the air. Old episodes of "I Love Lucy", are whirling in the ether around you as you read this. Rush Limbaugh is in the room with you. You may or may not be aware of them, unless you have your TV or Radio on, but they are there regardless. What else exists in this world that we cannot see with our eyes?

The first scientifically rigorous book that I read on the subject was Dean Radin's, The Conscious Universe. Radin is a scientist who investigated the link between the mind and the physical world for the US Government. He worked at Princeton, the Stanford Research Institute (SRI), and somebig corporations. He conducted a number of meta-studies, i.e. massive studies of studies on psychic phenomena. His conclusion is that we humans absolutely affect the world we live in with our thoughts. This is an EXCELLENT book that I highly recommend to any intellectually curious individuals out there.

If reading is not your deal, then check out the DVD documentary, What the Bleep Do We Know?. You can buy it, or rent it at your local neighborhood video store (not likely a big chain like Blockbuster!). Here is a short trailer:

The very brief summary is that at the quantum level, everything is connected. If everything is connected at that level, it is possible to alter the fabric of reality by accessing the quantum level through thought.

If you google for "what the bleep do we know?" I dare say you can watch the entire DVD on line.

Other good books are Lynn McTaggertsThe Intention Experiment, and The Field, in addition to the books that Zenpiper has mentioned in his comment below.

Finally, I would like to make the following observation: Do any of us know - I mean know beyond a shadow of a doubt - what the hell is going on in this world? Why we are here? Where did we come from before we were born, and where we will go after we die? What the world is made of? These are the great questions that have occupied mankind's mind as long as we have been around. Today many Americans arrogantly think that we are on the cutting edge of history, and that we know everything there is to know, and that we can do anything we want without consequences. This kind of arrogance is what always gets people and societies into trouble. In spite of our confidence, the great questions remain.

Religions offer answers to these questions, but so does science. I urge people, in the spirit of our mentor and hero, Dr. Paul, not to attack people because of their beliefs, as long as they are not hurting others. If you happen to disagree with this post, fine, feel free to disagree respectfully. But the key is to remain respectful. There is no point in starting a fight over something that no one truly knows the answer to! Otherwise, if you don't have anything constructive to add, then just ignore it. Save your time and your resources and concentrate on something else. This post will not hurt you if you choose to ignore it.

And lastly, why don't we hear much about such things in the MSM? Probably for the same reasons that we don't hear about Dr. Paul that much. They don't sell product!

'Always be yourself. Everyone else is taken.' - Oscar Wilde

Thanks a lot - you made my day

.
I am glad you brought up "Bleep." It's a wonderful movie; and the quantum mechanics of energy are really at the heart of what I was trying to say. Your post was wonderfully affirming.

I think those who criticize have not had their lives touched by something really wonderful or unexplainable. There is an old phrase:

For those who do not believe, no explanation is possible.
For those who do believe, no explanation is necessary.

best outcome

I pray for my family and friends--not for anything specific, but for the best thing to happen. I can't tell you how many times the outcome was better than I could have imagined.

Donna

OH come on...

Show me the evidence. Give us a link. And even when you do, I don't doubt it will be riddled with holes. Clinical experiments? You can prove anything, given the right parameters; and the rightful exclusion of evidence that disproves your thesis.

Hmm, so it is your inclination that prayer works is it not? "Yes." Focused intention can heal peoples deafness & solve problems...? "Yes." Soo... the reason the world is in such a bad state, theres poverty, global warming, food shortages, droughts, Iraq etc. is because people are not praying HARD enough? There is not enough prayer? THAT is the REASON the world still has its problems?

“Faith is believing in things when common sense tells you not to.”
~ George Seaton.

Whats with people all of a sudden pushing a religious agenda on this site, do they feel we need to be converted? Look, I was converted; and now I've seen the light. It's called 'reality.' - I do not want to bash those who have faith; thats not my intention at all. It just insults my intelligence, when it gets done on a forum like this. Religion is a hot topic, yes - so is politics. Everyone has a viewpoint. But there are other areas to discuss it. Bringing up religion in this context, does nothing for the RP campaign - although I guess your judgment and perception would imply it does. *sigh*

You have all the right to say what you believe. It's called freedom of speech. I don't want to censor anyone. I just think there is an appropriate place for this and its not here. This site has a 'niche' aspect, and its got everything to do with Ron Paul & getting him elected as the GOP candidate, and the next President of the United States. Bringing up religion, only fractures us, it does not UNITE US. Which is what we are all here for, to bring America back to its former roots, and all its constitutional glory! We shouldn't be fighting each other, the ENEMY is out there people! Mobilize under the Ron Paul banner, take to the streets, for we do not know defeat! We are heading for the White House, come hell or high water in 08! As Jesus Christ be my witness, this is our fate!

Here is your evidence

Zenpiper is not pushing any kind of 'religious agenda.' I would appreciate it if you would remain respectful of other people's opinions.

'Always be yourself. Everyone else is taken.' - Oscar Wilde

I am not religious, but I

I am not religious, but I have nothing against those people that are, including Dr. Paul. Stop the bickering already. We're all here for a reason, united by our support for Ron Paul. What's great about this campaign is that it's bringing a diverse mix of ALL TYPES of people together. Let's celebrate our differences, not be divided by them.

"The world is indeed comic, but the joke is on mankind." - H.P. Lovecraft

shezcrafti, totally agree

Last time I checked, this was a site about supporting Ron Paul, not individual soap boxes.

Let's get on with the task at-hand, folks. The clock and calendar are moving forward...!

Take your own advice

You say we should not be fighting each other - that is what you are doing.

You say you don't want to censor anybody - that is what you are doing.

Then you mention Jesus, who would be far more charitable than you are being.

Advice taken.

"You have all the right to say what you believe. It's called freedom of speech. I don't want to censor anyone."

I'm not calling for this to be removed. I'm not calling for the person to be reprimanded. All I have is a differing viewpoint, would you have me not say it?

How exactly am I censoring anyone? I'm not 'fighting eachother'. I'm merely advocating, that posting things of this nature, in my opinion adds no worth to the campaign, and only provides increased instances were infighting can take place. As I've said; Religion is a hot topic, as peoples opinions differ. HENCE, don't shove them in my face, keep them to yourself as is ADVOCATED by the CONSTITUTION. FREEDOM OF RELIGION, and you also have the freedom to choose NO religion. So like I said, there are other places for this - and its definitely not here. - Personally, it feels like your beliefs are being forced on me... As for the last line, that was a bad attempt at satire. I think I need to watch more Stephen Colbert.

Focus is step 1: it works, but for a reason ..

The brain is a goal-directed mechanism: having a clear picture of the objective helps guide one's actions, motivate, and allow for course correction when one appears not to be headed to the right place. This kind of visualization is extremely valuable for some very rational reasons.

The Dossey study has been challenged, and I think the challenges are valid (for instance, they reported the lower pain levels and complications of those who were prayed for, but didn't bother to point out that these people didn't live any longer than those who weren't: it was a classic example of cherry-picking the data that supported the thesis and ignoring the part that didn't). Also, it hasn't been duplicated. The best prayers are those of Thanksgiving, and Thy Will Be Done (or a Living Trust, if your attorney considers it preferable to a will).

But it isn't necessary to believe the Dossey study to defend the technique of visualization of the desired result as if it had already happened. There are plenty of academic studies indicating the great usefulness of this strategy. The skeptical may find Self-Directed Behavior by Watson & Tharp, which is used as a textbook in some college psychology classes, to be persuasive. The cynical, of course, are hopeless. ;)

"My fellow Americans. Let me be the first to welcome you back to life in a Constitutional Republic. To people around the world, we extend the hand of peace, commerce, and honest friendship. To our troops around the world, who have committed yourselves to the defense of America, it is time for you to come home to defend America ..."

Excuse me, I've got 45 minutes of additional material to visualize. TTYL

funny

I actually had a dream the other night that Dr. Paul won the Republican nomination. No joke. I woke up very excited! Keep up the effort!

Surround yourself with

Surround yourself with positives and positives will most certainly find you.

Tell someone new about Ron Paul and his message. If you're involved in this campaign, even slightly, you've experienced the power of intention already.

Spread the word. Think positively and know you are making a difference; more and more people are waking up because of your efforts.

Don't die with your music still in you.

Oh come'on

Get real guys.

It's the one thing I don't understand about Americans. Their obsession with this bearded guy in the clouds. Isn't the whole point of the Ron Paul rEVOLution making it clear to people that there's no such thing as Santa Claus?

Pay attention

Who said anything about a bearded guy in the clouds or Santa Claus? If you want others to get real you must do it also. Positive energy works for me. Why be negative?

No

No. The point of the rEVOLution is to get Ron Paul elected and to restore power to the people and their wishes, and to prevent the oppression of human beings, whether they believe in God or not. Ron Paul himself is a Christian. If you do not believe in God, that's fine; Ron Paul will still stand up for your right to believe that under the constitution.

You are absolutely correct!

You've touched on a subject that is very powerful yet most people don't realise this. You might even know a lot more about this subject than you let on here and I commend you for keeping the message simple. I am not a fan of organized religion, but am spiritual. Our thoughts are one of the most powerful things in this universe. Many researchers in this field will agree that our reality is manifested by our thoughts (subconscious thoughts). When people, especially a large group, together focus intesively on a certain thought pattern, this has very very powerful ramifications and tends to creat that reality, directly or indirectly. I won't get into the details of how it works too much, but what I will say is that our thoughts generate vibrational frequencies that tend to attract other thought patterns along those frequencies. Whether you agree with this is not important. The important thing is that we have nothign to lose by picturing in our heads over and over, or praying for if that's your preference, Ron Paul being the President. Cheers.

"None are more hopelessly enslaved than those who falsley believe they are free."

Exactly Ilian

If anyone's watched or read "The Secret," it is this exact concept. Everything is related to energy, positive or negative, in this universe. There is an energy reading on every item in the world, and that includes every organ in our bodies; this has been proven.

The concept of focusing on something and visualizing it, works. I have practiced it and can confirm. This is not ant-religous in any way. It's just understanding that everything in the universe is connected to energy and we can use it as a major force.

I don't rule God in or out, but simply live my life trying to do the right things. It is possible that there is no God and when people pray intensely, it creates major energy and the goal is often realized. It may be mistaken for God. On the other hand, there very well may be a God as it sure is mind boggling to think of how this universe was initiated.

Either way, this focused positive energy is quite powerful. If we all sit back, close our eyes, and focus on Ron Paul being President, I believe this could be very helpful. When doing, don't focus on hoping he is, but focus and envision he is President, sitting in the Whitehouse. The more absolute, the more powerful. If a million of us did this, imagine the power.
This is certainly not to replace the continued campaign efforts and fund raising. When one visualizes, they have to continue to do the other things that are relevant to make the effort come to fruition.

What do we have to lose?

Bob W., Naples, FL

I personally doubt the

I personally doubt the effectiveness that such a thing may have. But I rather strongly doubt that it will have any negative effect, and so I encourage anyone who does believe that prayer will help Ron Paul get elected to follow their beliefs.

Doubt the science?

.
Prayer is only one form of focused intention, but (as the above poster affirmed) it does work well.

You might want to take a look at the work of Rupert Sheldrake, or Larrey Dossey, M.D., or Norman Shealey, M.D., or Carolyn Myss, Ph.D. If you doubt, it is because you lack evidence. There is quite a bit of it these days. Some of the studies are just jaw-dropping.

I think, also, there are some Lynne McTaggert videos or audios on YouTube. Very fine science.
.

Weekly Intention Experiments

I am a participant in the Weekly Experiments from Lynn McTaggart's website. Whether you call it prayer, meditation, focus, visualization or whatever, it's all about the energy. The Experiments have been a huge success fo far with some astounding results as mentioned before. The most recent 'science' is irrefutable. Thought is energy. Very powerful energy that is at it's most effective when applied with understanding and awareness. And in large numbers. Know thyself.

But there have also been

But there have also been studies that have documented no effect, and even studies that have documented a negative effect. Even the most scientific studies are subject to the rules of probability. I'm certainly not going out there and saying it's wrong - but I am saying that I personally am not convinced.

I think it works

I have been positive in my life and beliefs and what the poster said was right for me. To harbor worry, doubt, fear or a negative point of view doesn't help me. It is certainly possible to find data that will support your views. This is far easier than staying positive. Most people are skeptical and negative. I am not one of them!
