Dr. Paul is Wrong About The Economy! Bush Says There Is No Recession! Thank The Lord!

I'm so glad that G.W. Bush came out today and put all my fears to bed with his down home rhetoric and common man speaking style. I feel so silly having listened to Ron Paul conspiracy theories about the economy.
I guess I forgot that our president always knows what's best. After all, He is our President, right? Boy is my face red! It's too bad we can't just elect him to another term. =(
I am going to go enlist in the Army now so I can serve my country and hopefully I will get stationed at Abu Ghraib so I can have some fun too!

Great title
Wish I could see a poll of the American people on this one. I'll bet more would believe Bush.
This is not gonna bode well for him
He just made himself out to be more of a madman than anyone thought !! I love that :)

Greenspan Tells Saudis to Dump the Dollar
"Middle Eastern nations who drop their dollar peg would significantly decrease inflation, Alan Greenspan told Saudis at a conference in Jeddah yesterday. Inflation in the Saudi kingdom is surging at roughly the same rate as the U.S.’s PPI, up 7%, a 27-year high. Likewise, in the UAE, inflation is climbing at a rate of 9.3%, a 19-year high.
"In the short term, free floating,” Greenspan said, “will not fully dissipate inflationary pressure, although it would significantly do so.” As if the dollar weren’t in bad enough shape… the former chairman of the Fed is telling Saudis to ditch the greenback."

Actually
W just looked at the graph of the decline of the dollar upside down. With that he thinks the dollar has been on a tear in recent times.
Ah Trapp, Trapp, Trapp...It
Ah Trapp, Trapp, Trapp...It is interesting that many economist are now saying that this "down-turn" is far different than any previous ones in our history. First, there is such inter-connection within the economy and the structure of financial securities that each carries with it a risk that closely associates or influences another sector or instrument. Today, yet another of those arcane instruments fell into disrepair and that is the VRDNs (Variable Rate Demand Notes) which are considered "low-floaters" with short-term rate variables, usually setting every 7 days or so, used by cities and states who issue long-term taxable or tax-exempt bonds. Like Auction Rate Securities, cities and states depend on these instruments to finance their operations. Now however, since there is a major issue with both these instruments, you will see cities and states unable to raise or insure their bond issues and thus unable to raise the necessary funds which will drive them to bankruptcy.
This is only the beginning, many of these arcane instruments are issues placed to corporations, banks and institutional investors. This is an additional risk that is now being added to the credit markets, which as we know is gasping for breath. Now, since the entire economy is based upon and its growth depends upon the expansion and ease of credit to sustain itself. Additionally, there are other arcane investment and financial instruments, such as the CDS (Credit Default Swaps) that are at risk and all since the entire financial and monetary structure of the global economy depends on such instruments there is a very real danger that this is getting beyond the control of any regulatory, governmental or securities agencies to contain it at this stage of the game.
What I find amazing is in the summer of 1929 everyone thought there were no problems....never say never, or haven't you learned that lesson yet?

I watched him this morning...
All he seemed to have on his mind was making sure he sold the House and the American people on giving immunity to the telecoms spying on US...
Then he told that great joke about how the economy was NOT in a recession, never mind a depression.....I LAUGHED....

Jolly good show! How right you are. I feel like an undercooked Yorkshire pudding, eh, what? A smashing young fellow indeed is this Master Bush -- of impeccable pedigree, too, of course. Obviously, those damned natives are restless once again. Will this madness ever end? Such an ungrateful, uncivilised and uncouth lot Just accept world empire -- damn it. Do we need to give you all a damned good thrashing? It's just not cricket!
Oh look, it's time for tea and I'm absolutely parched. Toodle doo.

At one time the definition
At one time the definition of recession was a depression. Recession is simply a more acceptable term for a depressionary slump.

I think Bush is right on
I think Bush is right on this one. You can't have a recession when your currency is completely destroyed. :)
Bush's Stimulus Package Will Help Bolster The Economy
I am going to use mine to help pay off my credit card debt, oh wait, that's not helping the economy though, just the credit card company who created the money I'm borrowing from them out of thin air.
I guess I should go spend it on more ice cream, candy, and lollipops and go back to watching the totally tubular and insanely awesome revitalized version of American Gladiators!
heres what im buying

Hey!

No recession
Just a depression that will make the depression of the 1930's look like absolute affluence with all the inseparable Malthusian conditions.
Just ignore betterhalf and trapp...
They've both been floating around doing the pollyanna ~everything is good~ posts for two weeks now. It's like having Fox reporters posting on DP, without the personality...lol

The madness of king george
I was having lunch when king george came on. The bartender looked at the screen and said "what planet does that f#^king a$$hole live on?" I nearly spit out my food.

What a joke.
My bullshit-o-meter just broke. Thanks king george, you just set the bar at an all time high...
Smart Like Skittles!
There's no doubt the man is a putz and a criminal of the highest order, but don't start calling him an idiot too quickly. yes, he seems to clearly have deminishing mental capacities, but he got himself (certainly with a lot of help, but even so) to be the leader of the (less and less) Free world, and managed to hold off being impeached for 8 years of delisional psycosis. He may not be smart, but someone with all that power and money isn't necessarily stupid either. Frankly, as painful as it is, i think he's got us right where he wants us..

Alrighty then...
"We'll make it through this period just like we made it through other periods of uncertainty during my presidency," Bush said.
We have? I'm still uncertain and wondering when the other shoe is going to drop...
