Kindly lend your support to MA's ballot initiative. Help us send a message to our bloated state government.

Both Carla Howell and Michael Cloud have been supporters of the good doctor.

No More Income Taxes...!!!

The elimination of the state income tax nearly past on it's last attempt. That message was understood by all the Democrats that so DOMINATE the Massachusetts House and Senate.

If the people pass this and the legislature ignore it, then they know full well that the pitch fork can and will most likely be used on them!

Where is that Constitutional corrections Facility that I spoke of.

Stay tuned, things are starting to heat up around the country..!!

Ron Paul and his supporters are turning up the heat. Everyone is starting to pay attention. We must re-double our efforts..!!

Daryl

The [Ron Paul] FIX IS IN!

.

I'm rooting for Massachusetts

Doing the same in California is near impossible, but if we can do it in MA, then it may spread along with the rest of the downsizing movement.

IMissLiberty

Near impossible? Why?

Many states do not have an initiative process to put propositions on the state ballot, and getting such a law passed in those states is near to impossible. But California DOES have an initiative process, and it mostly works. That's how our property tax limitation (Prop. 13) got passed, many years ago. You draft your proposition, collect a gazillion signatures, and it goes on the ballot. Lots of work, but hardly impossible.

IF WE END THE INCOME TAX, HOW WILL WE PAY FOR
MASSACHUSETTS STATE GOVERNMENT?
by Michael Cloud and Carla Howell
===========================================================

$17 billion of the Massachusetts state government budget comes from
other taxes and other government fees.

61% of state government funding comes from other taxes and other
government fees.

Taxes and fees like these:

* 5% Sales Tax
* Business and Corporate Taxes
* Death Taxes (Estate Taxes)
* Gasoline Taxes
* Turnpike, Bridge, and Tunnel Tolls
* Motor Vehicle Registration and License Fees
* Beer, Wine, and Liquor Taxes
* Cigarette Taxes
* Cable TV Taxes
* Electricity Taxes
* Internet Taxes
* Long-distance Telephone Taxes
* Water and Sewer Assessments
* Professional Licensure Fees
* Fishing, Hunting, and Gun License Fees
* Hotel Occupancy Taxes
* State Gambling Profits
* User Fees (e.g., court costs, parks, freedom of information, etc.)

But wait, there's more.

Massachusetts state government will continue to rake in money from
other taxpayer-funded sources:

* Tax Bond Proceeds
* Lawsuit Settlements (e.g., from cigarette manufacturers)
* Investment Earnings (on over $30 billion in government financial
assets)
* Federal Grants and Subsidies (paid out of your Federal Taxes)

$17 billion dollars for the Massachusetts state government this year
alone - in other taxes.

But there's even more.

That $17 billion in state government taxes is on top of your local
taxes.

That $17 billion doesn't include your property taxes on your home,
subsidized housing tax, auto excise taxes, room taxes, rental car
taxes, building permits, dog licenses, and more.

Even after we END the Income Tax, the Massachusetts state government
will still rake in $17 billion a year in other taxes.

$17 billion: the same amount as our 1995 state government budget.

$17 billion from other taxes: more than enough money for the state
government to fulfill its duties.

Beware of desperate cockroaches

Getting rid of income taxes, both State and Federal, is certainly a worthy goal. But remember that the real level of taxes on any society is not the official tax rate, but the level of government spending. Cutting off the money from income taxes will not convince the government cockroaches to stop spending other people's money, it will mostly force them to look at other means of extracting it. Fines, property taxes, utility rates and all kinds of special assessments -- every extortive tool that remains in the hands of government -- will crank up to the max. If you want to keep both your money and your liberty, then you need to find a way to limit the spending power of government, as well as the taxing power. Just a thought: how about an initiative to hold state lawmakers personally responsible for any spending in excess of revenues?

Only the Feds can print money

Eliminating the State income tax will quickly lead to lower spending because, unlike the Federal government, the States can not print money to cover their overspending. Sure, they can borrow, but the marketplace will limit how much they can borrow when they have no revenue to cover their debts.

This is why getting rid of the Fed is of such paramount importance on the national level.

That is about the best idea I have read in a long time. Let's get it on the ballots!!!!!!

...

YES! and while we're at it ...

Considering Congress has at least as low an approval rating as the President, let's make them as accountable as the state legislatures.

I Pledge my Vote!

I pledge my vote for the abolishment of the Massachusetts State income tax. Only one problem, if history is any indication, the MA State Government has ignored the vote of the people in the past when it comes to the elimination or reduction of taxes in the state. Yet these guys get reelected year after year. It would be nice to have some republican (Ron Paul types would be nice too) competition in local government to shake things up a bit. The only Republican choices I ever see are for the Governorship and the Presidency—I was very temped to write my own name in the Primary on one of those empty lines. I wonder how many have actually done that? How many write-in votes would be needed in a primary to get your name on the general election ballet? Is one enough if there is one else to contest for the seat on the republican ticket?

I seem to recall looking

I seem to recall looking into this a while back, and I think you have to get 50 write-in votes before any of them count in a MA primary.

50 Votes

That sounds resonable. I figured there was must be some min requirement.

Bump!

Another great example of the r3VOLution in action at all levels. Keep us posted MA!
