The Dollar is a Big Element of U.S. Security
I was delighted to read in Judy Shelton's op-ed, "Security and the Falling Dollar" (Feb. 15/ http://online.wsj.com/article/SB120303537586270097.html?mod=...), that at long last the security implications of the dollar's collapse have made their way into the mainstream media. The dollar's strength (or lack thereof) has been of paramount concern to me, and the subject of many of my statements over the past several years. Decades of manipulation by the Federal Reserve have benefited the government and certain politically-connected firms, while gradually destroying the purchasing power of middle-class Americans. Despite numerous warnings in the past, it is only now at a point of acute crisis that Washington insiders are beginning to awaken to the reality of the end of dollar hegemony.
While I desire reform of our current monetary system, my own proposals have not been as all-encompassing as Ms. Shelton's suggestion to return to a Bretton Woods-style system. Her recommendation, though, that gold backing should make up a component of a future monetary system, is one that we would
all do well to heed. My own legislative proposals focus around eliminating the taxes and laws that dissuade individuals and institutions from using gold as currency or as a backing for currency. By allowing market processes to determine the issuance of currency, we can allow individuals to decide for themselves what currency they wish to use. This would lead to a gradual reintroduction of sound money and avoid the market shocks that occur when monetary decisions are mandated by government fiat.

Like I keep saying,- and I agree, that Ron Paul will become topical in the main stream when folk who are either traders or are in the media start to realise that the paycheck each month is not worth the long term damage to them or their loved-ones if any other candidate is elected to save america and the economy. Ron Paul will be consulted more and more in the msm as we are seeing now.

Everyday I realize more and more that the so-called power people are really just like most of us. They're busy trying to maintain their lives and get along financially.
Ron Paul's revolution has been more of an educational thing than a revolt against dark forces. Make no mistake there are dark forces, but when we come against the masses as if they are the dark side they resist and are repulsed. We then lose our most important allies due to our our impatience. People who knew better were patient with us.
Americans are like a one big adolescent. We have had to learn by trial and error experience that our monetary ideas are not good for us.
Easy credit and abundantly available cash have hurt us in the long run but they sure looked good in the short run.
We're learning.
And when enough of us have learned, we will be an unstoppable force for change in this country.

It is interesting to watch the growing interest in Ron Paul's financial policy among the big investors. If these guys decide he is their man, look for a sudden change in the MSM treatment of Paul. The WSJ is an indicator, along with the "Business News" that Paul is becoming more of a serious contender. The Wall Street folk have a lot of influence upon the media as well as the fat-cat lobbyists. If Paul's voice is being heard by them, we can expect nothing but good news. The Market might wish to become a "Free" market!

... he could figure out a way to communicate this without it sounding to the average person like he's proposing that we barter with gold bars and silver nuggets. Competing currencies sounds like chaos, on the face of it, until you understand what it actually means. It's unfortunate, but to the average person on the street it does make him sound like a bit of a nut.

Daily Paulers are an articulate and educated group. All our rants, prayers, advice, encouragement and observations should be put into brief and easy to understand terms for Joe Sixpack out there to read in the local paper. Don't be condenscending but convey yourself in terms that will awaken and enlighten the public. I just came from a local GOP meeting and it was a McCain lovefest. I had forgotten about these sheep and was appalled how severe the programming has effected them. Tiny steps like these letters are an example shown us by Ron Paul himself.
