A good day in Douglas County Colorado for Ron Paul
Hi all,
I just got back from the Douglas County Colorado GOP Assembly. We've been working this caucus process since Super Tuesday and it looks like we scored a bunch of delegates to the upcoming State Convention and to the 6th Congressional District Assemblies where the national delegates are chosen. Douglas County, CO is the Orange County of Colorado so it is a really Republican county.
The County GOP from a presidential perspective seems to be in a bit of disarray. The only mention of John McCain all day was by Dick Wadhams. Almost all of the candidates stayed away from the "presumptive nominee". In the end, our little band of RP Republicans quietly walked away with a slew of delegate slots to the state convention, combine that with apathy for McPain and we could be headed for an interesting State Assembly here in Colorado.
So, keep the faith, nothing is over until we say it's over.
.

Don't forget to hand out slim jims at the polling places...
You would be amazed at the number of people who like Ron Paul but are on the fence on whether to vote for him or not...push them over to our side.

I have been sayiong this for almost a year and i am so glad people are listening. Please read my post on the delegate process and how we can win the nomination here : http://www.dailypaul.com/node/36650#comment-320073

Please keep delegate numbers confidential
I understand how it's a boost to people's emotions to hear of our successes in the caucuses, but please keep the actual numbers to yourselves for now. The people that are active at the grassroots level have access to this information already and don't need to be asking.
For everyone else, please just trust that we're working hard and we have done well, and that tipping other campaigns off to our actual numbers is not something any true supporter wants. I know you understand.

Hey McCain-----┌П┐(◣_◢)┌П┐
You are 100 percent right!!!
And I'm the number one person asking for numbers - sorry fellow patriots.
I'll give you some other numbers instead -
My district had 84% more Ron Paul votes during super Tuesday than the two nearly identical districts - we canvassed almost all the homes in the district. Canvassing works....
Canvass Canvass Canvass, donate, then become a delegate.
Ditto
Ron Paul was 5th in California, but third in my precinct, and virtually all I did was drop off a couple of slim jims. (Most people weren't even home.)

Send me an email at yahoo (same username) and I'll fill you in. I attended the Denver county convention yesterday. Don't want to share news on here.
Colorado Delegate
Join the RP Delegate Meet-Up Group and get with your county coordinator. Every county is different in terms of how the assembly and convention works. Knowing how it works is key to moving up to the congressional and state assemblies.

Denver County saw the same
I'm quite confident that many of the Ron Paul faithful in Denver County will walk away with delegate spots too. It was an amazingly disorganized and fractious meeting and support for McCain was LUKEWARM at best. While there were many warmongers and some that even spoke out in favor of the Patriot Act and other abuses of civil liberties, this is a party ripe for change.

It wouldn't surprise me a
It wouldn't surprise me a bit if CO would give Paul a boost. And the fact that few mentioned McCain just proves our point that delegates from other camps are beginning to look at Paul as if they were one of his troops. Keep up the excellent work over there!
I second this...
Become a delegate wherever you are.
I live in Southern Colorado
and we had our Republican Party Assembly last week-end. I'm going to the state convention as a delegate and a friend is coming along as a alternate.

Good job!
It's nice to know Douglas County is on the ball. I used to caucus there before moving away 10 years ago. Fond memories of all the fun.
Thanks to you all
Wish you could give more details...how many delegates did we get? 50%, 20%? Did they try to Louisiana you? How did you handle it? We gotta build on the base of knowledge we have so others can learn from it and either benefit from it or keep from getting Louisianed!
In my district we got 50% of
In my district we got 50% of the congressional delegate seats and 33% of the state delegate seats. I'm sure no one knows how we did overall yet. We had a list of known Paul supporters, and we only casted votes for people we knew supported Ron Paul. So even if you had 10 votes, if only 3 people in your district supported Paul, you only cast 3 votes. Depriving other delegates of votes is very important. I've found that who you don't vote for is almost as important as who you do vote for in a caucus system.
that is one hell of a point
that is one hell of a point Brain Spill. and i plan on passing along your idea here in Indiana. i knew i kept coming back to Daily Paul for a reason

That's a very good point...
Depriving non-Ron Paul supporters of votes..... what is the difference between the congressional delegates and the state delegate seats?
The state convention sends
The state convention sends 20 (I think) delegates to the national convention. Each of the 7 congressional districts in Colorado send 3 delegates to the national convention. Then there are 3 other elected Republicans that automatically go. The state convention is really big, but the congressional conventions are smaller.
I was there, and Ron Paul
I was there, and Ron Paul will indeed be represented well at the state and 6th Congressional District Assemblies by Douglas County. Props to the meetup group for getting everything organized. We all knew who the Paul supporters there were.
We had a different process
We had a different process up here in Larimer .... but non the less, we are by far the most organized group. It's going to be a fun time at State/Congressional! ;)

I believe RP has at least 10 of 38 from way down here. I just joined a statewide MUG for CO delegates. Looking forward to State/Congressional.

Good job!
Thank you to all the Colorado RP supporters. Now is not the time to slow down, but we should all be going "full steam ahead!"

Thanks for encouragement!
Thanks for encouragement! Ohio's turn coming up Tuesday! Praying for miracle on low McCain turnout.
