I Think we have the Delegates...
Greetings Fellow Liberty Republicans!
I just attended my county Republican convention this weekend and I have to say, I was very pleased by what I saw there.
First off, the lawn outside the convention center was carpeted by campaign signs from all of the candidates. I am pleased to say that Ron Paul signs dominated the landscape! I would say that for every sign a candidate had up, we had at least three. Kudos to Carl Bruining for equipping the supporters in this region to get the word out!
As I went into the convention (I am a county and congressional delegate) to be seated, I saw a lot of local politicians had booths. What I did not see was McCain very well represented. Ron Paul’s booth was big and informative (there was always a group standing there). Huckabee also had a booth, but it was not as well attended.
The first person who got up to speak was Marilyn Musgrave, Congresswoman from the 4th Congressional District in Colorado. She really tried to sell everyone there on the idea of John McCain as the nominee. Funny thing is, it did not look like her heart was in it. She was merely towing the party line. People in the audience were actually standing up and denouncing her words (not too rudely, but vocal none the less). Other than Musgrave, there was only one person who got up and spoke for McCain and I think he was the last minute/only choice of speaker for McCain.
This man got up and actually used words and phrases like “Constitution,” and “return to conservative values,” when referring to McCain. He said he was upset that he was the only one who wanted to get up and speak for McCain. Poor, deluded man…
What really lifted my hopes was when Carl Bruining got up and spoke for Dr. Paul. Every time he spoke of Dr. Paul’s platform, the room erupted in applause.
Here is why my hopes are up…
As I sat there, I realized that most of the delegates in that room were Ron Paul supporters. The reason I know this, is because we had a secret sign that we all went and picked up before the convention got under way. It was not obvious to those who were there, but it was to those of us Dr. Paul supporters.
We had pulled off what nobody yet realizes…we had the majority of delegates!
I cannot wait for State and Congressional…and the National convention! If this is an indicator, we are in the calm before the storm. When the convention in Minneapolis happens, the world will be stunned. Why? Because we have quietly infiltrated the party and we are taking it over.
Hang in there folks…the battle seems to have been lost, but the war is far from over. While they think we are in defeat, we are marshaling our forces for the great battle to be fought in Minnesota. The fight that will take back our party and ultimately, our nation.
God Bless Ron Paul
God Bless the Liberty Republicans
And God Bless this Republic!

I think there's a trend
I think there's a trend starting here...
I've read these kinds of messages alot lately...
McCain has 1,191 empty seats with nobody to fill them. His delegates are on paper...they are virtual delegates.
Ron Paul is going to have more delegates in St. Paul, MN than insane John McCain.
Hope is on the way!
Great job!

Would having people that
already attended their county convention attend others help or distract? We need to take advantage of our experience and keep on Louisianing them...
Not Sure
It all depends on the rules at your county, state and Congressional conventions and the need to be vocal or stealth mode.

county executive meeting
Hello citizens,
I'm a new precinct chairman here in El Paso, TX. Recently we had an executive meeting of the county party. Not one of the local party people were for MeCain. We Paulites have joined up and are making ourselves useful and quietly spreading the good news of liberty, prosperity, and peace. It looks like the rest of you guys are busy too.
Wherabouts
in CO are you? I'm from the Springs originally, stuck in NC for the time being, but I plan to help out the CS Meetup by calling delegates this weekend....

never give up, stay involved. We will take back our country peacefully through truth and activism. Those of you who are not delegates should be signing up for your town committee's.
Thank you
Finally a post worth reading!
Keep This On the Front Page
With Romney out why can't we take Colorado, Montana, Alaska, North Dakota, Minnesota, Nevada.
If we all go underground and try to get ourselves unbound making them think we are McCain supporters. I know the rules are difficult but anyone who votes for McCain and does not realize the war in Iraq is making us at more risk, can't be that bright. They are going to be in for a surprise in Sept.
3 RP delegates elected
at my county convention, at least three RP delegates were elected (out of ten). it may not be a majority, but it's progress. the best part is that this is happening EVERYWHERE. keep it up.
what county and state?

I'm pretty sure that
I'm pretty sure that Colorado Delegates aren't bound. So that means I can vote for anyone I please..
They are not...
Colorado delegates are not bound...no one has been able to show me otherwise.

These are the posts we need to see!
I'm a little tired of reading people whining about how the campaign has abandoned us or has failed or given up. What a load of crap. The campaign is still very much underway - they're sitting on a substantial chunk of cash, a growing base of highly motivated supporters on the ground and a presence WITHIN the Republican party that is rapidly but quietly growing in size and influence.
Seriously people - the man is campaigning just as hard as ever, but within the absoutely critical state of Texas. I trust his instincts - I'm not about to second guess a statesman who's been doing this for decades, with a hugely impressive success rate. He's asked his supporters to carry ont the fight across the US while the Congressional race takes place. This one thing he's asked of us - the least we can do is keep the faith and fight for him and for his ideals, and for each other, I might add.
Keep the faith, friends, and keep fighting. We're going to beat these f***ers at their own game. With our raft of delegates (that they have no idea we have), with McCain and Huckabee's lacklustre support and with the half million supporters rallying outside the convention building in St Paul, banners flying overhead ... they won't know what hit them.

That sounds great, but...
...if McCain walks away with enough pledged delegates to win the nomination, does it matter if they're Ron Paul supporters? I mean, if most (if not all) delegates are pledged to vote for the winner of the popular vote in their state, and McCain wins on the first ballot, then what we're really talking about here is changing the party platform, right? That's great, and I'm all for it, but it sounds like some on this thread are saying Paul can still win the nomination if most of the delegates are Paul supporters, regardless of what happens in the popular vote. This can't be right, or am I mistaken?
popular vote means nothing
popular vote means nothing in the primaries! he who has the delegates gets the win!

Look back throughout
Look back throughout history...
Both Lincoln and Herbert Humphrey were considered 'long-shot', 'fringe' candidates and neither had much of a chance of receiving their party's nomination before the National Assembly. Both, however DID receive the nomination AT the convention.
It ain't over yet.
I can think of a few more..
Ronald Reagan, Jimmy Carter, George McGovern... All candidates who were vigorously opposed by their party apparatchiks.

You are mistaken
Don't believe the delegate numbers you see, any of the state do not bind their delegates at all. And in many of the states that do, there is a very real chance they will become unbound at the state conventions.
I must say your words gave me the chills
The good kind!
i wonder if this is
i wonder if this is happeneing in a majority of the states?

I'm sure planning on it happening in other states.
