Newsmax today.

It's a negative article, btw. Here it is...

http://www.newsmax.com/farrell/ron_paul/2008/02/01/69341.html

I took the time to write Mr. Farrell a reply. You all should to if you have time and the need to vent.

Here's my response...

"I love how everyone bashes Ron Paul for wanting to minimize the size of our government.

Our government, between state and federal taxes, takes over 28% of our GDP, just to function. I don’t think that’s what our Founding Fathers had in mind when they designed our Constitution specifically to minimize the size of government. And no matter what you say about our Founders, the Constitution has been called repeatedly, “the best ever written.”

The government takes 20-50% of everyone's income, right off the top. Then they take more when we spend it. And even more when we die and leave our money to someone else.

Over half of our tax dollars go to fund our military. How many countries on earth use half their nation's wealth on war?? A bigger question, if we weren't at war continuously as we've been this entire century, would our nation survive?? Or do we depend on our propensity for killing brown people just to keep our economy going? Hhhmmmm..... Makes you wonder about the real reason we're fighting a "war on terror".

Speaking of the "war on terror", aptly named so it doesn't EVER have to end...

Are you scared of terrorists, Steve?

How many people you know have been killed by terrorists? How many have been killed in a car accident? Which is the bigger worry in your small world? You have to drive to work every day. What are the chances you'll be near one of those terrorists when they blow up?? These campaigns of FEAR perpetuated by the government-subsidized media are ridiculous. (If you don’t think the same people who own weapons manufacturing plants also own the major media companies, you’re living in a fantasy-land.) You could have a 911 every single week for the whole year, and still more people would have died from heart disease, cancer, strokes, and the like. The FEAR (false evidence appearing real) that the media is throwing in our faces, in order to maintain support for the war... well, to be honest with you, it's getting old.

It sickens me how one man running for President has a clue on what this country needs... and he gets labeled a "conspiracy theorist", even though he's stated many times he doesn't accept those theories. They say his changes are "radical", when he's simply advocating for a smaller government... something that's very desperately needed.

Meanwhile, you have other choices. A communist, a socialist, and a war-mongerer. The war-mongerer is following right in the footsteps of our current President... the fascist dictator.

What is wrong with you people???? Do you not see where this country is heading?? And do you not see who's taking it there? The "top-tier" candidates all want to keep the war going, fund more expensive government programs (health care), and I don't hear anyone talking about reversing the egregious violations of our rights and freedoms enacted by the Bush administration. (Except Ron Paul.)

What happened to our country? Where are our rights? Where is this "freedom" everyone speaks of? I can't ride in my car, eat a meal or even take a bath without some sort of government intervention.

And a bigger question is...

How are we going to pay for all this CRAP??

I mean really... none of the other candidates have a clue about economic policy, and that is the biggest issue affecting our nation right now. They want BIGGER government and more wars, and we can't pay for the government we have right now.

Ron Paul is the only candidate talking about monetary policy. He understands that the Federal Reserve is NOT allowed for in our Constitution, and there is a reason for that. INFLATION. (Not to mention the OURAGEOUS profits the fed makes from loaning money to our government. Do you like knowing that your government owes billions and trillions of dollars to a private institution owned by the international banking elite? The same elite who have funded BOTH SIDES of practically every war, in every country, this century and before?) The inflation we’re experiencing now is a bad deal, but especially when you consider it's going to get a LOT worse. And no one else has any solutions… except more war and more government programs. (The 2 things that put us in this situation to begin with.)

In this country, just like every other empire that ever existed... the rich keep getting richer, and the poor keep getting poorer. Who do you think this rampant inflation hurts the worst? Not the corporation owner, I assure you. Maybe his employees?

The reasons that all nations and empires end up crumbling can be seen throughout history...

#1 Military defeat, generally this is NOT the reason, but when it is, it's because the empire grew too fast and spread itself too thin. Like what we’re experiencing now.

#2 Inflation resulting in a debasing of the currency. Like what we’re experiencing now.

#3 Corruption in the government causing the citizens to overthrow said government. Like we should be doing NOW.

Those are the big 3. Hhhhmmmmm....

Seems like Ron Paul is the only candidate addressing these issues, and yet the main stream media can only talk about how "he doesn't have a chance" or "he's a conspiracy kook".

Whatever.

See you in the soup line."

Magnificent Response!

I too never cared about politics or politicians, labeling them all as corrupt, evil and greedy until I heard of Ron Paul.

Now I have the details and specifics to back up my instincts that something really nasty and creepy was going on in "our country."

BTW, I've had to pretty much stop reading any negative articles, because I get pretty upset. I take it so personally when someone says something ugly about Ron Paul. He's so good and kind and smart, why do they have to stab him in the back like that?

When I feel like WHY doesn't everyone love Ron Paul and see how brilliant and RIGHT about everything he is???, I just remind myself that he (and we) are up against something very, very big -- the Federal Reserve, IRS, etc. -- killing us and our country since 1913.

I've written plenty of responses to negative articles but I need a little break. So I'm really glad you read the article because your response letter was brilliant and fantastic!

awesome response. I endorse

awesome response. I endorse it ; )

Great response!

Thanks!

I get fired up talking about Dr. Paul. Are any others out there like me?

ADDICTED???

Ever since I started following his campaign, I spend most of my time reading about Ron Paul, or other libertarian info, like lewrockwell.com and others. Or I go to Yahoo! Answers and click on "Government and Politics" so I can answer other people's questions about the election and what our country should be doing to fix the mess it's in.

I spend as much time thinking, reading and talking about Dr. Paul and libertarian principles as I do on my job.

Crazy. But good, I think. And I never really followed politics that much before!!
