McCain clinches GOP nomination
McCain sweeps Tuesday primaries; Huckabee, Paul drop out of the race.

By Ken Herman
WASHINGTON BUREAU
Wednesday, March 05, 2008

"In all four states, McCain easily defeated his remaining GOP foes, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee and U.S. Rep. Ron Paul, R-Lake Jackson."

"Paul also conceded by issuing a victory statement noting his renomination for his House seat.

"I have no Democrat opponent in November and will serve another term in Congress, where I will continue my battle on behalf of taxpayers," he said. "

But look! You can e-mail the moron who wrote this and tell him about his mistake!!!

we want to be at the convention. We can have a goldwater like impact if we have significant numbers.

You CAN'T Silence Me

......says Ron Paul in so many words! He will continue as the voice of the Revolution in Congress and now is being joined by "Ron Paul Street-Wise" individuals determined to join him in Congress. Unbelievable progress we are making. And, another smear campaign exposed as a bunch of paper tigers (like the useless monetary system) goes up in flames. Truth marches on. Truth wins gradually like the race between the hare and the tortoise.

And, look at the main website picture. There were eleven and now there are TWO!!! Yes, "they" can throw out the McCain delegate situation. And, we can wonder what a difference media exposure might have made....we can lament the mafia-style election procedure and fixed machines plus out and out lies. And, we can await the almost probably Clinton/O'Bama ticket they have now set up. Many people will say....whaaaat? It is March and already our choices are McCain or Hillary or O'bama/or McCain/? vs Hillary/O'bama.
Never before has an election been decided and this early. Never before has the obvious corruption been so in your face. This emperor truly has no clothes.

The only thing that stands between Ron Paul and McCain at this point is McCain's continuing good health and he doesn't look that healthy to me. Does anyone know what would happen if McCain croaked?? I don't. Does anyone think that like the little boy with his finger in the dam "they" can patch the economy, sway the masses and convince everyone that there is not a huge monster in the front yard? I don't. The dollar will continue to fall...there may be a run on banks which would reveal something equal to the shock sometime back of there is no gold in Ft. Knox.

We do not know what is going to happen...or how fast. The most important thing right now (and I believe Ron Paul knows this) is the message. The message may well become the medium....real soon.

This article above was not out of "ignorance".....we will see more and more undermining not of Ron Paul folks, but of OUR message. Bernake et al can't keep their finger in the dam much longer. Just my opinion.

I sent an email... send the emails!

i was pretty snippy in mine, kinda like a mad yenta

Yeah, and it did a lot of good, right?

Just like the other thousands or tens of thousands of rude, irate, often semi-literate "snippy" e-mails fired off by Ron Paul "supporters" over the past several months to media types with whom they disagree on some point or another... When are you people going to grow up and actually help the cause?

salt-of-the-earth

What About

....all the well-thought out, considerate and extremely literate letters that WERE published and read? In this battle there is plenty of room for a multi-pronged approach...each doing what they can do. According to Ron Paul, this revolution is all about exercising your freedom of speech and expression. Many express themselves better than others. Many understand you can attract more bees with honey and the folly of throwing rocks in a hornets' nest. Some have even learned those things from participating in this revolution at a lot of different levels.

Some of the news from positive activists at the precinct level last night were amazing. There are a lot of ways to help the cause. We aren't just finding our *voice*...we are finding our *voices* the American way. And we are learning from our mistakes. History is full of quotes by patriots that include a lot of venting...patriots who have made a difference. That this loosely organized group of people are bound by not our differences...but our likenesses is the real strength. If you feel like writing a letter. Go for it. If it is a kooky letter that brings a negative response, the Revolution can absorb that....just learn what is effective. Grow in your ability to express the reasons for our constitution.

C'mon let's be fair!

If I were a newsbody reading Ron Paul's statement, I'd consider it a concession of defeat in the Presidential race, too. WE"RE the ones who are splitting semantic hairs by insisting that he's still running for President while simultaneously firmly stating that he WILL serve his next term in Congress. Maybe Dr. Paul is still OFFICIALLY in the Presidential race, but he sure as heck is not running in any real sense of the word. So call me a troll--after my max donations to the official campaign, to Jeremiah Black, to the blimp, to Boots on the Ground in IA and NH, etc., etc. after my canvassing both in Iowa and my home state, after serving both as a Precinct Leader and County Coordinator, and I'm still rounding up folks to stand for election as delegates to the Republican convention, though I'm increasingly questioning the value of it all. Can anyone explain to me please the value of going to Minneapolis to listen to McCain's acceptance speech, or to try to massage the Republican platform to make McCain more electable?
In any case, strongly suggest you screambodies stop firing irate e-mails off to newsbodies that just antagonize them and really gain Ron Paul virtually nothing--or less.

salt-of-the-earth

Well...if

you want to look at this with logic...regardless of what he said...he did not state that he was conceding the race and also his website says "And then there were two..."

If he had dropped, would they have even bothered with the, 'and then there were two?"

Just asking.

And after all the support we've given, I would hope that he would have emailed those of us on the email list and told us before he announced. But that could just be wishful thinking.

You're not a troll. This is

You're not a troll. This is not a dream. Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.

agreed; RP himself needs to set the tone

Our frustration is understandable, but so is the behavior of the media on this. RP opened the door for this with his own statement. It would help a lot for him to go on the offensive right now and act like he is eager and intent to take this nomination away from McCain. Sure it's a long shot, but the only way to make a long shot is to take it. ;-)

Keep pushing, all! Just remember the Golden Rule as you do.

One can be a Congressman and President of USA simultaneously

Yes, DR. Paul can serve as a congressman and be the president simulateneously. So this reply saying that it is "declarative" that RP has dropped just shows Ken Herman's ignorance and/or his inability to think beyond the conventional norm.

Hate povery, not the poor - Gandhi

I just asked that question

on another thread, and the answer was he would appoint someone else to his seat in Congress, if he were to win President.

Well, "apparently, according to statesman.com"

THEY ARE WRONG!

"In the beginning of a change, the Patriot is a scarce man, brave, hated and scorned. When his cause succeeds, however, the timid join him, for then it costs nothing to be a Patriot." -Mark Twain

Ron Paul's silence is deafening

Again we are struck by tone. The article was fair, IMO. If/when Ron Paul wins the nomination none may be more surprised than him. This is part of our fight, and the hardest.

Now there are TWO!

I hear him not dropping out LOUD and CLEAR

I emaied him

and received a reply... within minutes:

I understand your point and am checking with the Paul campaign.

Dr. Paul issued a statement last night flatly saying he "will serve another term in Congress." It is declarative. It does not say "if I don't win the presidency." The Statesman headline said "Huckabee and Paul concede." It still sounds to me that Dr. Paul was conceding that he will not win the presidency.

We will report what the Paul campaign tells us today about the state of his campaign. I will concede that it is possible for someone to continue to run for president while harboring no expectation of winning the job. I am checking to see if that is the current state of the Paul presidential campaign.

Thanks for contacting me.

I wouldn't get too bogged down in this, for you know he's havin a good laugh as he hits the delete button and it won't accomplish anything but a waste of your time... and that is what they want!

So it's not a waste of time.

I don't like it anymore than you do.

I was encouraged

by the fact that he even took the time to reply. I sent a follow-up email letting him know why RP has such a passionate following. He immediately sent a response to the effect of he totally understands and likes people who are passionate about their candidate. We try to gain converts wherever we can, eh? Maybe (if we are all polite) he will look into the issue further, become intrigued and propose a feature article to his editor. Maybe he will even become a supporter himself. But not if we treat him poorly. Be nice in response to his willingness to listen.

reply from author

I emailed him to politly inform him of his error & received this responce

Thanks to each of you for contacting me.

Here's the background. The passage in the story was based on release from Dr. Paul last night concerning his renomination victory in his Texas district. The release included this quote from Dr. Paul: "I have no Democrat opponent in November and will serve another term in Congress where I will continue my battle in behalf of taxpayers."

One cannot serve in Congress and be president. This sure sounded - and still sounds - like a guy who no longer plans on becoming president.

But I guess it is possible to continue running for president even if you don't think you have any chance of winning. With that in mind, I've asked Jesse Benton at the Paul campaign to clarify the situation. We will be happy to report what we find out.

Thanks again for your input.
