A renewal of hope...
For what it's worth, I am a Ron Paul delegate in Maine, and I read DP for many, many hours - every day.
I am also an old, broken USMC vet who still loves the concept of Liberty, and have been following the Dr. for many years.
In reading the last couple days of posts, I have been getting a feeling that things are not all doom and gloom - that there's been a renewal of hope, purpose, and energy! As has been said before, "...and then there were two...".
I couldn't be more pleased...
I can see the economic/civil rights collapse coming, and we couldn't have timed our message of freedom any better...
I am proud to be associated with you folks, and hope that a few of you out there are feeling it too...
Yours in Liberty,
Shovel

We've come this far
Now is certainly not the time to let down. Let's finish this and then see what we have. This has been very unreal and no one knows what is going to happen next. If the soldier's letter about McCain was not a hoax, alzheimers will start manifesting itself very rapidly. Why are they sending McCain out of the country on several trips. To keep him out of our sight? People like you and many others on here just keep me pumped. I'll face an unhappy result when it happens, but it hasn't happened yet. I am not going to usher it in with thoughts that are self fulfilling. Love you guys.
loved your post, shovelhead
Great discussion. I'm still happy every day to simply contemplate the fact that there are now such things as "Ron Paul people". The very existence of that phrase causes involuntary smiling.

you remind me
that my Dad would be proud of me. Having wise men like you around makes me feel closer to my late Father also USMC vet. Thank you
I Understand
I'm a brother as well. I've seen a decrease in "Gung Ho" on this site and others. BUT, many of us, including myself, will continue to drag ourselves through the mud of politics to get to the convention and make a difference. I'll see ya there--Look for a guy with both Ron Paul button and Eagle Globe and Anchor showing!!!!
I'm with you Brother!

As a 20-somethinger who has learned A LOT from being a part of the revolution, stories such as yours top the list of the reasons I'm here. Thank you for your service and the support you give to this grand and noble cause!

Hi Shovel
I'm a delegate in Washington.
I remember back in the 50's when I was a kid on a farm in Kansas,we could build a chicken coop without a permit.
Kids drove tractors to help their Dads,we could drink milk strait
out of a cow,catch a catfish out
of the creek and Mom would fry it up for supper. We went to a 2 room school, grade 1-12 with 2 teachers that did a darn good job.Back then we just lived our
lives and nobody bothered us.I
wish the younger people could
know what that was like.They
have missed out on so much!I
know we can't go back in time
but I will spend the rest of my life
trying to get some freedom back
for our kids!
Wolf,
From an old, crusty, broken Marine, you bring tears to my eyes as well...
My wife's gonna start calling me bad names...
Here in Maine, we can still do much of that, but there is always the (small) risk of being "caught" doing those "illegal" things...
...longing for the times where we could just "live our lives"...
...longing for the time where we didn't need to ask "permission" for almost every human activity...

Never lost hope
and for me, that's saying something; I'm usually a realist/pessimist kind of person. This movement has changed me for the better. I too am a delegate in MN. Glad you're still here, Shovel, fighting for liberty. Though all of us are different, have varying opinions, and hell, might not even like each other if we met, we are all connected by a common thread. We are all patriots who want freedom and liberty, and I'll proudly tell God and everybody that I'm glad to be a part of this.

Actually Shovel,
I was just talking about that with a friend. I've never shot a real gun, just BB and pellet guns as a kid. (Pathetic, I know). I've always wanted to get a gun, but being a single mom most of my adult life, (then married and divorced), there was always something more important to buy. Like food. ;)
An indoor shooting range just opened up where I live, and I hear they rent even semi automatics. I do believe I'll check that out...

make sure you get someone
make sure you get someone who knows how to shoot to show you! REMEMBER... FRONT SIGHT!

Hey McCain-----┌П┐(◣_◢)┌П┐
"semi automatics" aren't machine guns
A semi-auto is just a regular gun. A fully-auto is a machine gun.
Just in case there was any confusion. ;-)

God Bless you sir
Old but young enough to know how to use a computer lol. Its great to know there are older people taking advantage of the internet. I wish a lot more would. I'm sure we wouldn't be in the delegate deficit that we are in if more older people got their news and info from the internet.
Ron Paul has change my view of the world and it's politics forever and I'm proud to be a part of this great movement that will make a difference.
Hopeful I will see everyone at that great Ron Paul Rally in Washington DC!
Great Job with your
Great Job with your commitment, sir! My dad served in Vietnam and guess what he's also a staunch supporter. Did you serve in any war? Anyways, there's nobody that knows their country better than those that have defended it. Send my best to all the other delegates in Maine, we know it must be cold up there but we appreciate every effort all of you delegates make!
You folks...
...literally, bring tears to my old eyes....
Someday we will be left alone - unless we are
1)damaging another's property, or
2)violating another's rights
That, to me, is freedom - and I yearn for it...
I'm thinking of an old quote: "when you've got nothing, you've got nothing to lose..."

Can you point me to the smoking section?

I'll join you in the smoking section... They're getting hard to find.

Awesome
When it gets bad we can communicate with smoke signals. Yes smoking sections are real hard to find... In AZ my freedom to smoke is 25 feet from the building when it's 120+ degrees outside. Who needs a match!

When you have to stand
25 ft.away from a building to
smoke, that puts you in the middle of the street. Then you either get hit by a car or get a ticket for J walking!!Lifes a b**ch!
I believe
Fortune Favors the Bold
Those who have the spirit of liberty and hope alive in themselves retain that exuberance for life that is sometimes called "youthful innocence." How much more meaningful is that spirit when it is no longer born of innocence, but by experience, and tempered with wisdom. When a man can hold his idealism up, like a flag, and proclaim, this is what i believe, and while I live, no one can take it from my heart or mind.
