Rand Paul: Is the Revolution Over or Just Beginning?

by Rand Paul MD | March 8, 2008

Reports that Ron Paul has quit the Presidential Race remind me of Mark Twain's famous quote, "Reports of my death are greatly exaggerated." The Ron Paul Presidential campaign continues, albeit at a different pace.

What does that mean?

Ron Paul will continue to contest the remaining primaries. Ron Paul's name will be on all the remaining state ballots. Ron Paul volunteers are encouraged to become precinct captains, delegates to state and national conventions, and to try pass Constitutional proposals to each state's Republican platform.

For example, volunteers in each state should try to attach amendments such as the following: Republicans believe that war should only be fought after a proper Declaration of War by Congress. Another possible platform idea is that: Republican Congressmen are expected to vote against any federal budget, Republican or Democrat, that is not balanced.

Want to have some fun? Just imagine the fun when the debate begins on these ideas.

Is Ron Paul still campaigning for president? Yes. Ron Paul has tentative plans to campaign in Pennsylvania and Kentucky. Ron Paul will also likely appear in other states that have remaining primaries.

The press is reporting that Ron Paul has quit the race. This is not true. Ron Paul's video simply acknowledges that the campaign will continue but will also transform into additional activities such as education and supporting other candidates. In Kentucky we just held precinct conventions and Ron Paul Republicans won hundreds of precinct captains. In Kyle Texas, Craig Young upset the establishment choice for Republican County Chairman.

The Ron Paul Revolution lives on! Victory comes in many forms. Help shape what the Ron Paul revolution becomes.

Response to your idea..

It just depends on how much money you want to put into your project. There's nothing wrong, per se, with your idea, but you do realize that Dr. Paul won't be our RNC nomination, right? McCain, unfortunately, will or does by now have enough "bound" delegates to get the nomination. So, I don't know. Just think about it...many hardline Republicans won't change their mind, until they are forced to by the events occurring around them, sad, but true...BTW, it would have been a GREAT idea, if we were headed into a brokered convention. I don't mean to throw water on your idea. It's always good to educate our friends, and our future friends. If you get involved in local politics, make friends, then talk & convert, if possible. There are many ways we can educate. Good luck.

New Stratagy

Personally I think the best thing we can do at this point is to identify all the of delegates nationwide and bombard them with enough information that they will finally be convinced Dr Paul is the only way to go. In my area I am going to try to identify all the state delegates, (there aren't that many, only 114 I believe) and start sending them DVD's and other literature like Aaron Russo's film American Freedom to Fascism, Alex Jones' Endgame, and the Hacking Democracy documentary. I think lots of these delegates have just been misled and brainwashed by the MSM and because there are so few of them we could effectively de-program them with a concentrated effort. Any opinions?

Is there a way to find out who the delegates are? The campaign DVD 3.1 is really awesome.

To: wolfangel and ALL supporters

FOR STARTERS, what we can all do is combine the Huckabee camps with the Paul camps and unite online. Together we can accomplish more and deciminate more information through online notifications and websites. The Huckabee group is at:

The presidential campaign is over for Dr. Paul, barring something miraculous, which I don't think (and neither does he) will happen. I believe he is staying on the ballot for those people who are unbounded delegates who are planning to go to the National Convention, so that they can vote for him. It will be their *verbal* protest vote, even though he will not win.

Our bubble has burst, my friends, and so, now, we must come down to reality once again.

If we could *replace* all these corrupt politicians, we'd do it yesterday, but running for office is expensive and time-consuming. Being a State Senator requires a break in your normal work obligations, and most full-time workers will not be able to do this. Many baby boomers who are retiring will be able to pick up the ball. Granted, it will be hard to wrench them off their golf course, but, this will be a "numbers game". The more boomers who wake up, the more boomers we will be able to tap into who will decide to make that gauntlet run. Running for Congress or Senate is monumental, but we *can* support those who are able to do so.

Regarding our own personal finances, I sense it was, as a group, all we could do financially to get Paul back in Congress. Dr. Paul also has made it pretty clear he will need more money to go to other states, but he needs to be public about where he is financially. Perhaps he'll post something on his website about that later. As an alternative, he and his associates could stay with "reputable" (and verifiable) local supporters' homes to save motel & food & transportation costs. This would be for the remaining states who want him to come to their primaries.

There is.... still.... HOPE.... for our country's future, albeit a slim one. If we can impale Congress to represent the American people and our boys in the military, somehow, someway....we may prevail in the end!

However, for the time being, we will all have to face our own reality about what has happened and what we will want to do, given this turn of events. We will always be able to write or communicate with Dr. Paul, and perhaps, may I suggest that he shall put out.... YouTube Video clips... regularly.... to alert everyone what is going on in D.C. and which congressional bills we need to support.... and which bills we need to make sure don't get off the dime, so to speak.

I believe Ron Paul CAN be VISIBLE. I also believe this will have a unifying effect across the country.

Just do what you can....within your means...both financially & mentally & time-wise. Don't feel pressured. Try not to feel sad. As soon as their is some STRUCTURE formulated for communicating group-wise, we will all feel better...jmho. I'm anticipating this all to come together after the National Convention in September, as a arealistic goal date.

Remember this:

The rich elitists who have control of our government cannot control the masses, and the masses, I think, are just NOW beginning to yawn and wake up and smell the coffee...

Even so, it will take more activism from the masses, before we will see significant change, jmho...but...it ...IS... possible...

Could Ron Paul’s video be

Could Ron Paul’s video be a strategic attack on the MSM?

As a running candidate for the US presidential election 2008, Ron Paul has been ignored by the MSM and now with this video they all mention that he has dropped out of the race.

Hasn’t his video made more people aware of his participation?

His campaign will continue and will make the MSM more ridiculous and awake more people with his message.

I think Ron Paul is downplaying his chances of receiving the Republican nomination for one reason. If McCain and the GOP establishment had any idea about how many thousands of RP supporters are working their way through the process towards becoming delegates, the opposition would increase its efforts significantly to prevent that from happening. The result would be fewer delegates for RP at the national convention.

I admit that I was ticked off about what Jesse Benton told CNN last Thursday. However, I now realize that Dr. Paul is not only the champion of the Constitution and liberty, but he's also a brilliant strategist. He truly is the general leading our revolution. If every RP supporter stays focused on the objective of winning delegates for him, he will win!

Steve Gresh

You're overestimating the

You're overestimating the "resistance" to Ron Paul, and underestimating the GOP's desire to win against Hillary or Barack. A unified GOP is strategically more competitive than a disorganized DNC. Think about it from the GOP's point of view.

"The main thing that I learned about conspiracy theory is that conspiracy theorists actually believe in a conspiracy because that is more comforting. The truth of the world is that it is chaotic..." —Alan Moore

That was awesome

Finally, excellent coverage.

Agreed it is up to us now.

See you on 6/21.

Just stay focused!

Ron Paul is leaving it up to us folks! So put your energy behind the Revolution. We talk about not wanting government in charge, well Ron Paul is giving us a chance to demonstrate how this is done. Don't look to Ron Paul to do all the work, and just throwing money at the problem isn't going to work either!

Be in Washington on the 21st of June as requested by Ron Paul.

If you can't be a delegate, then volunteer at the convention, you will be able to influence undecided voters.

The CHOICE is ours now...

This video clip just confirmed what I thought. He has admitted he will not win. There will be no brokered convention--Huckabee couldn't get enough wins to do that. And, so....

It falls back on us. Many are tired and broke and spent. Some have the energy to go forward and actually be involved in local politics. Some will run for office, and that's great. And, many will fall back into their previous world of muddling along. We should not be angry at those who choose to have limited involvement, because thousands of them invested unlimited time and money to help this Ron Paul's endeavor towards the Presidency. Some are plain worn out. I know I am.

However, it is no longer about trying to get Ron Paul in office. He and his son are now asking us to "get involved" in our local politics and to finish out the delegate process, if we so choose to do so. And, you have to understand some people didn't sign up for that journey. And, some think the only difference that would have helped this country would have been a Ron Paul presidency, and now, the country is on such a rapid decline, they wonder if it's just too late to go bottoms up from local to state to congressional. Dr. Paul said he knew of about 6 Congressmen who were his friends and were quitting, because they had "had it".

That's my doubt. Is it too late...

I'm going to have to think hard and long about further involvement. Others will, too, because it takes more committment, more personal money, driving to conventions, going to meetings, etc. etc. All for what? A message sent to the Republican GOP. I think they know how we feel, but they are hardened in their own beliefs. We cannot change them. Time will force change upon them, but it may very well be impossible to stem the tide, by the time they wake up!

It is unfortunate that the wealthy banking elitists have succeeded in brainwashing the Republican party into thinking that neverending occupations and wars are a good thing. It is too bad that many Republican Americans have fallen for the same "terrorist" crap, but they have. And, without the help of the Media in re-educating them, what hope is there?? I know people who've been fighting for this for years, all to no avail. And, Dr. Paul is one of them. Americans are too fat and happy, and if we can't even get them to investigate the facts on the Internet, how are they going to know the truth?

I WISH the other side was right, but I know, and you know they are not. The fruits of their beliefs are destructive. They continue to destroy the American culture, the American dollar, and all that we held dear. Dr. Paul found that fighting the MEDIA where there is so much private control over the airwaves by warmongers like Rupert Murdoch of FoxNews and GE who has military interests and owns NBC; fighting the GOP was akin to fighting a pit bull, and finally, fighting the BANKERS and the Federal Reserve (which is so entrenched with groups who benefit from them), and fighting the CFR which is SO powerful and unbelievably strong, well, it all makes me dizzy to think about, but that's exactly what we were all fighting!

I wish good luck to those who go on from here, but I do have my own doubts about how we can change this mess, especially when I see these sick ideologies at local and state levels. As for myself, I don't know what I'm going to do from now on. Regardless, I certainly wouldn't feel like I was a quitter, after all the work and money I gave.

I just don't know...

While I personally have no confidence in Sen. MCcain, I thought it best not to put that resolution forward because of fear that it might of prejudiced some of the folks at my precinct convention against the other 14 resolutions. Ultimately, a state resolution of no confidence in MCcain would be unlikely to change much, whereas I feel it is imperative that the GOP embrace statements against the NAU and NAFTA, the Kelo decision, and the Federal government stealing states rights in Roe V. Wade. I was able to pass all of my resolutions even though 3 of the 6 people were staunch MCcain supporters. I'm not telling anyone how to approach there precinct conventions, but I do think it behooves us to tread lightly when it comes to MCcain . . . at least until we are at the National Convention. God willing, we will have a majority Monday morning in Minneapolis, and we can make a motion to unbind all delegates. Then we can get down to ole' school politics.

Rand is correct, the

Rand is correct, the Revolution is just begining!!
Fasten your seat belts and get ready for your county and state conventions. I think you will be surprised at the RP support. I know I was.
Be prepared to CHANGE your platform and your resolutions. This is a good place to start.
For example, amend your resolutions to include
1] No confidence in John in McCain
2] A resolution on World Government Organizations
3] A resolution to protect the bill of rights etc...
This is the start. Next step, sucession.

Finally cleared up

Thank you Rand for clearing this up. My goodness people we ready to give up on a whim. I say we need a major money bomb to let Dr. Paul know we're 100% behind him, no matter how the media exaggerates and twists the facts.

Mark Bednarczyk

me too

I just donated the other day and I plan to do it at least once a week until I hit my limit. I just want to keep the ticker moving and let Dr. Paul know that we will continue to fight.

"Endless money forms the sinews of war." - Cicero, www.freedomshift.blogspot.com

IF McCain were to drop out...

If McCain were to drop out for whatever reason, would a former candidate be allowed to re-enter the race??

Or would Dr. Paul be the nominee by default?

Or would the GOP be allowed to insert another puppet candidate at the last minute and give McCains delegates to him/her?

Just curious.

we must not forget...

Willard (Mitt) Romney only suspended his campaign in early February. Only a month passes and we assume he's dropped out. The suspension did not remove his name from ballots, he just no longer went out and campaigned. There was no formal concession speech.

What really amazes me...

is that I am MORE FIRED UP then ever. Ron Paul opened my eyes. I am involved now...now stopping me.

agreed .. bump this ...

agreed .. bump this ... strong morale boost!

All paper money eventually returns to its real intrinsic value, zero. - Voltaire

Bump this...we need a morale boost and a strong

statement from RON Paul when he is on CNN tomorrow that he is still in this and fighting for every delegate at the convention in ST. PAUL. Much will change between now and then, he must stay in this! Surrender is not an option...the future of our country is at stake, and the whole world is counting on us to get this done.

I think Ron Paul's message

in the video was not ambiquous, it was more carefully formulated in the light of the realities. The statement that victory in the conventional sense was not possible anymore, refers to the delegate status currently, as perceived by the media, who has already crowned McCain the presumptive nominee. The description "in the conventional sense" is very important. If he would not have said or mentioned anything like this, the media would have described him as a kook and crazy, to think he can still win. We saw already what they have done with Huckabee before the second Super Tuesday victory. This all does NOT mean Dr. Paul cannot get the nomination in the "unconventional" sense of the word, like with McCain making a big mistake that cost him the nomination, something happen to his health, a big backlash by conservatives against McCain, some delegates changing their support during the convention to not support McCain anymore, the possibility of stealth Ron paul delegates among the others, the possibility that something drastic can happen, like Bush/Cheney getting impeached, the situation in Iraq drastically changed, shocking revelations about McCain etc. There possibilities do exist, but Dr. paul cannot elaborate or name them strongly in a public statement and frankly do not need to also. But also if
McCain does get the nomination, it is very good to get the maximum of delegates and we have a historic chance in the remaining primaries get achieve great results, as all this will show power and a stronger "bargaining power" at the conference and beyond. Public support and resulutions from their members is what is going to change the GOP establishment's minds about adopting a non-interventionist foreign policy. And Dr. Paul cannot do all this alone. He needs not only the support of all in specific ways, but also need many more congress representatives and senators and well as governors support to muscle power, apart from those that he already has in congress. If there is such a strong movement, many existing congressmen may also fall in line with us...

Bump "conventional sense"

We will win unconventionally

Excellent formulation

Rand. It is very clear and inspiring to all Ron Paul supporters, as well as potential one's.
I just heard on CNN (international version) some interviews with people on the street about who they think will win the election etc. and the last guy - young, perhaps a student - said clearly Ron paul. The reporter was very surprised and asked him how is that going to be possible. The guy had a great answer, and smiling and with confidence said, he (Ron Paul) is like a ninja and will "sneak" in. The news announcer did repeat the catching Ron Paul as ninja then. SOmeone can get a recording of this and post it on youtube??

It would be a good idea if Rand Paul can run for a congress seat in Kentucky? I think/read before he is interested, but he had to persuade his wife. I also read his brother - who is in Texas, same district as his father I think - Robert is also considering. This would also be a good idea, if there is a position in Texas where he has a good chance. Otherwise, - in case Ron Paul does not get the nomination, Ron Paul can ran for senator or governor somewhere and Robert Paul can take over his father's district?

CNN video

the video is actually of me right here! exciting huh? you can find it on CNN videos and search for Voice of the Voters. It took me a few days to find it but, this morning was a success and there it is. If you can find a way to get it on youtube that would be awesome, definitely let me know.
