Montana Governor Tells The Feds What They Can Do With Their "Real ID"

I think it’s safe to say that Governor Brian Schweitzer of Montana doesn’t like Real ID, a backdoor way for the government to impose and create a national ID card (with RFID chip which an unauthorized, knowledgeable techie can read) by requiring extensive documentation before you can get a drivers license. Here’s an interesting site devoted to the anti-side of the issue. And here’s what security expert Bruce Schneier thinks of the idea.

LISTEN to the governor explain why he thinks the Feds can shove their Real ID where… Well, you know where. I like this guy’s style!

Homeland Security, on the other hand, considers Real ID to be “pro-consumer.”

The DP is proof that the grassroots support for Ron Paul and his peaceful message of individual liberty is large, real, and not going away!

Dat's Amadin!

It would seem Ron Paul is not the only politician with integrity! That's promising news! Thanks!

I emailed this to my governor

and wondering if I'll get a positive response...:-) Perhaps we should all email the link to our governors...

I've read Bruce Schneier before. He's pretty blunt about

the genuine objectives of these so-called security measures. When analyzed in the light of reality, the measures have nothing to do with security; only control.

Well, since California...

...pays way more to the Federal Gov'mint than we get back, maybe we just won't have any money go either way. CA could survive fairly comfortably without the rest of the Union.

Montana

Is just one of several states who are rejecting the Federal Real ID.

It's being called the States Rebellion to Real ID.

Write your elected officials. More states need to join.

Here is a list of other states leading the rebellion against tyranny.
As of this writing, the list consists of Arizona, Georgia, Hawaii, Missouri, Montana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Utah, Vermont, Washington State, and Wyoming.

i sure wish

Oregon was on that list :(

I did write to several officials, but.....

Freedom Fighters Rule!

Texas too!

My God, Texas of all states should oppose this REAL ID (I've already emailed my state senators and congressman), and oppose vehemently the Trans-Texas Corridor which will open the door to the North American Union.

After all, Texas should remember blood was shed at the Alamo for freedom. It was a full independent republic before it became one of the United States. Some think we should go back to being the Republic of Texas.

Gotta love Montana

Thank God for someone to finally challenge the insanity of the Federal government. Call their bluff. If things get really bad then Montana is the state to live in. If the airports do NOT let someone from Montana on a plane after May then you will see court cases coming out of the woodwork.

The Federal government has crossed the line this time and can NOT force anyone to get this ID. This is fascism at its best and I can't see any Federal court in this country deciding that your freedom to fly as an American citizen can be taken away because of some bureaucrats.

Kudo's to Montana for having the backbone to stand up for what's right. I finally have hope again and now realize that there is at least one state in this country that is sane and "gets it". What a great state to base the Revolution in. If things get bad enough with pressure from the Feds then maybe Montana can secede from the Union.

Montana is awesome! Just as

Montana is awesome!

Just as RP says, freedom is popular! Let's hope it grows even stronger in Montana and spreads from there!

From that interview

Fortune Favors the Bold

The Department of Homeland Security issued a statement saying "Showing up to the airport with a Montana State Drivers liscence will be as good as showing up to the airport with nothing."

I wonder how the folks in Montana are going to react to that plithy comment?

Fortune Favors the Bold

We are all talking about not

We are all talking about not flying and putting pressure on the airlines as well as other ideas. If they aren't going to let us board planes, then we will not welcome their business here. We also have the option of sueing the airlines that don't let us board cuz of the National ID card issue. Our problem is tho, that we depend heavily on tourism....don't forget that we are the 4th largest state but our total population is less than one finds in a New York neighborhood. If it comes down to our economy vs our constitutional rights, everybody I know will fight first for our rights. Everybody I talk to feels like Schweitzer and Johnson are doing great in sticking up for we the people. They are sticking up for us on the gun issue too by saying that our right to bear arms is guaranteed in our contract for statehood. If they take away our right to bear arms, they render our contract for statehood null and void. We will choose secession over giving up our 2nd amendment rights. Our state has a secession clause in its constitution.

Thanks for the post, I like

Thanks for the post, I like what I see coming out of Montana, I lived there for a year earlier in my life, I liked it. I may move back.

WOW, 150 Legislators ALL voted with a BIG FAT unanimous, NO!!!

Now, that's what I'm talking about. Imagine that! And Montana's Governor Brian Schweitzer is a Democrat! A Dem telling DC to GO SHOVE it!!!

Must admit, he had me cracking up, when he said "blah, blah, blah" to the NPR host!

At this point it should come as no surprise that what is supposed to be the genteel, elevator music tone NPR, has since 2001, become the de facto National Pentagon Radio. They have been the biggest warmongers and police state propagandists, right alongside FakeNewsCh. NPR just sounds less abrasive. Hear the feigned concern of the host, for the sheeple: Oh my god, what about all those Montanans, they're NOT going to be safe without trackable RFID, from the terrorists! Only if Montanans voted to waste their tax dollars for something that won't be implemented for 7yrs, Alibaba and his evil henchmen won't be out to get them! Oh no!

What a joke.

Now, for those still unfamiliar with the nature of this Real ID beast, the big con is that States MUST pay for a program the Feds mandated, but DC won't pay for it. Then, after the States paid into the system for SEVEN years, will they finally decide on a national standard for the Real ID. So they want the program NOW, but won't pay for it. They scream bloody murder about the need for security, yet are willing to wait 7 years for it? Wow that's some security!

So, say we're stupid enough to go along with this policestate CON, IF the program works, which it NEVER will, for instance, according to the latest stats, in 2006 alone, some estimated 2200~3000 illegals passed through Arizona's borders alone, PER DAY! At that rate, in 7 yrs, the Feds would have allowed in 7.665 MILLION illegal aliens through Arizona, alone, while they have their thumbs up their collective areses, waiting to settle on a unified stadard! Wonder what Texas and California, and New Mexico's numbers would be when added up.

IT WILL NEVER WORK!

Besides, their real agenda behind the Real-ID is cashless society, one currency, one world govt, first starting with the North American Union.

Think electronic Money (e$$), and imagine Ben "the Helicoptor" Bernake, instead of throwing down dollar bills like confetti from a chopper, as per his nickname, with e$$ on RFID chips, all he has to do is sit like the devious douchebag that he is, with a simple keypad. At that point, he'll gladly press the "0" button, over and over, and over, again. There would be no need to physically run the printing presses at the Crane Paper mills, anymore. Speaking of which, I'd still hate to see that company go out of business. Hate fiat currency, hate the new colors, but we do have the most resilient paper currency in the world. We have cotton-demin stock in every one of our dollars, dang it! It's one tough piece of worthless fiat sh*t.

Of course, as many of you know by now, Real-ID has nothing to do with security nor liberty. It's sole purpose is a power grab, by a central entity, to control every step of our daily lives, our thoughts, and our actions. 'Cause, you know, I could have sworn I saw Osama bin Forgotten pose as an aide to a Congressman writing up the Patriot Act, the Military Commissions Act, the John Warner Defense Authorization Act, and Presidential Directive 51. That sneaky bastard. What, NO? Oh you mean, the terrorists didn't legislate our RIGHTS away? No, you don't say!!

So who are they protecting, again? When are they gonna get the "REAL" culprits, who financed the 9/11 attacks?

Just like gun laws, these unCONSTITUTIONal legislations only target US, the law abiding citizens.

When is the last time you've ever seen a criminal or a terrorist have problem faking ID's, or getting illegal guns, drugs, or whatever? And if memory serves, within the last 7yrs since 9/11, we've had over 130 million Americans' credit card info stolen! Now just imagine what an enterprising group of pimple faced 5th grader computer hackers can do, once all the candies are in one gigantic jar for them to feast on: all our DNA, medical history, blood type, insurance, banking, credit card, DMV info, our shopping habits, dating habits, eating habits, etc. IF some moron can hack a creditcard co's info, what the hell makes them think they can't steal something that can readoff ALL that data, WIRELESSLY?

Common sense and Statists, utter perpetual oxymoron. I'd stress the "moron," part of the word!

Good job MONTANA!!! I may have to move there. Hey, the Republic of Lakotah extends out to much of it. There may be REAL freedom in our time yet. But with Ron Paul at the helm, we can ALL enjoy genuine FREEDOM, in EVERY State, for the first time in our history, along with some much satisfying grassroots groundwork, of course!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Because the genie is out of the bottle, and I WANT MY FREEDOM, I WANT IT BACK! I WANT MY REPUBLIC BACK!, more than I WANT SEX!! So say we all!

I AM RON PAUL!! We ARE ALL RON PAUL!!!!!

I'm confused....

Wasn't it the original intent for any blanket laws that cover all states had to be an amendment ratified by the states? Why would an amendment be needed about flag burning but not about national id? If they can just pass laws willy-nilly forcing states to do things they don't want, what's the purpose of amendments anyway??

Exactly. Amendment 9 & 10 -

Exactly. Amendment 9 & 10 - any powers not specifically granted to the federal government are reserved to the States or the people.

...

But why..

does one law "require" an amendment and not another? What keeps them from just passing a law banning flag burning or same sex marriage? There must be some reason that amendments are necessary for those and not others. Or is the use of these two trivial matters just a facade to make us believe they still respect the Constitution?
