revolutionaries want change .....they dont care what the world thinks...do you actually think the msm would go out of the way to say the ron paul supporters did a great job not donating on the 5th and changed to the 11th......please....the dr paul doesnt care for what the msm thinks or else he would have left a long time ago...and if the ideological aspect is so great that it is killing you then take it as an antiestablishment day.....now go subscribe and donate....tell america we want change......

I have a respectful comment to make.
Now that there are at least 15000 people planning on donating on Nov. 5th there is little to no chance of stopping this day from being a massive money bomb worth the media's notice. That was the idea, after all. At this point the only thing that could be done to distance the campaign from the V movie has been done: all references have been removed from the 5th's site. One cannot do anything else to stop the media from making a fuss over this. What one CAN do is contribute to the POSITIVE side of the media coverage. They will cover the negative with or without us. Even if only $1000 was contributed, I'd wager a fair sum that they'd make a fuss anyway.
The way I see it, no more harm can be done by donating on the 5th, only good. If you cannot bring yourself to do so because of personal objections to what you perceive the symbolism of the event to be I can't tell you any differently. IF, however, you are objecting because you believe this will bring negative press, then I urge you to consider my argument and donate anyway. We can outweigh the bad with the good here!
The November 11 "Veterans
The November 11 "Veterans Day" theme is a fantastic idea! (Though I appreciate the symbolism in the Nov. 5 date too)
Who could fail to support a day like that, commemorating heroes, including present day hero Dr. Ron Paul (who is also veteran, remember). :-)

For those of you who are hesitant to donate this November 5th for whatever reason - I give you this reason. One year from November 5th you will be celebrating the results & victory of Dr. Paul in the election on November 4, 2008!!! Sounds like a logical day to donate to me! : - )
November 4th, 2008 my wedding anniversary!
November 4th, 2008, election day, will the 24th anniversary of my wedding day. For that to be the day Ron Paul is elected president will be an extraordinarily heartwarming thing for me personally. I'm sure it will feel the same for my ex.

I've been asked by my wife to explain that was a joke. I was only kidding, okay? (Okay, honey, now put down the knife). You think she'd be pleased that I remember the date of our anniversary.
It just occurred to me that I only have 3 days to buy her a present and pick out a restaurant: apparently, 11/4/07 is also our anniversary (how can we have two of them?).
Election Day
That was hilarious ~ so Venus and Mars! Happy Anniversary, ant. I will think of you and your wife next year on Election Day, as I cast my vote for Ron Paul. It will be a great day for a hearty chuckle!

My wife tells everybody that a day doesn't go by when I don't make her laugh. But enough about our sex life. If you are thinking of me and my wife next election day, I'll be really impressed.
Personally, we'll both be thinking about the positive direction in which America has turned. And that will be true on election day regardless of the outcome. The trend is unstoppable, even if the date of success is in doubt: the college students Paul is inspiring will never forget about libertarian ideas, and we will have more and more candidates run at all levels on these ideals as a result of Dr. Paul (and all that went on before this year to place all the wood in the pile for him to ignite). As a libertarian, I've labored for an obscure and seemingly hopeless principle for nearly 30 years, and I still pinch myself from time to time these days.

"anti-Catholic"? Guy Fawkes, the man whose symbolism (but NOT ideology) the V character drew on so strongly was Catholic, and the Gunpowder Plot was an attempt to end oppression of Catholics in England (albeit to replace it with oppression of Protestants). Maybe you're confused about the perverted religion portrayed in the movie- which was Anglicanism, not Catholicism. The Church of England. Besides, portraying hypocritical and dishonest religious figures is not "anti-religion" any more than portraying hypocritical and dishonest politicians is "anti-politics".
As for the violence, keep in mind that it's just a movie. It's not "advocating" violence, and the violence portrayed in the movie was all justified (though in the comics V was much more morally ambiguous and wantonly violent). Using the symbolism of V's justified violence to promote a non-violent revolution is no different from using the symbolism of the justified violence of the American Revolution to do the same, except that V for Vendetta was obviously fictional.
V for Vendetta was a very popular and well-received movie. I don't think there's any serious threat of people misunderstanding the symbolism of November 5, particularly here in the US where a lot more people know about V than they do the real Guy Fawkes.

Don't Discount Objections to Nov 5th
Let me start by saying I support thisnovember5th.com. I think it's a great idea and a creative testimony to the brilliant Americans supporting Ron Paul. I've seen V, and I understand its significance in relation to Guy Fawkes, George Bush, Ron Paul, and even Neo (Wachowsky bros are awesome). I am on the list and will donate $200.
Having said that I can also understand the hesitance of some supporters to embrace the Nov. 5th concept. Considering that Dr. Paul's campaign has moved into the "violent opposition" phase Ghandi spoke of, we should anticipate the negative spin that will be attached to news of the Nov. 5th fundraiser.
Yes, those that have seen V will "get it" and love it and that's great. However, those that have NOT seen the movie will have to rely on the MSM to "explain" what the movie V, Nov. 5th, and Ron Paul all have in common. Can you not see how simply this can be used against Dr. Paul? Can't you see FOX News splicing shots of masked people marching against police? Government buildings being destroyed? It's too easy.
The MSM is not "biased", it is controlled wholly and completely. They are the most skilled propagandists the world has ever seen. If Goebbels had Hannity and Colmes we'd all be speaking German right now. However, once you understand the game they're playing it is easier to steal their playbook and frankly the Veteran's Day Money bomb is a more effective counter to their dirty tricks. Think about it, which will be harder for them to spin negatively?
Propaganda 101 states that in order to make people believe a lie it has to be reduced to a simple soundbite and then repeated over and over. What's interesting about FOX News is that it's SOO extreme it is easier to discern what the MSM wants you to think and believe. For example, the last debate clearly showed us two things.
First, Giuliani is the candidate the establishment wants to run for president. Secondly, Ron Paul and his supporters will be labeled "insane" and "fringe" and "conspiracy nuts". They will try to link his campaign to Neo-Natzis, Truthers, and any other anti-government group they can think of. Therefore, we shouldn't give them any ammunition by glorifying a pop culture terrorist.
Again, I'm not disagreeing with the spirit of V, Nov. 5th, or their message. It's how the MSM will use it against us that causes me concern.
Anti-Catholic?
V is not about Catholicism at all. There is some reference to religion in it but its just this overall general concept there. As far as Guy Fawkes being anti-catholic, its totally the opposite. He was Catholic, and was doing something against those oppressing Catholics.
Basically the movie is about casting off the bonds of an oppressive government. The only people who kill anyone are the government, and V. And V isn't so much a person as an idea, if you've seen the movie that is. V is only a symbol for the idea of freedom.
So does the movie in the end even represent violence? Not really, because if you listen to what V says, he tells you its about ideas and symbols. It turns out its a battle of ideas and symbols that represent ideas, made into a movie form. One set of ideas destroys another. And really that is what the Ron Paul movement is, ideas fighting ideas. V is just a symbol.
Now those who are unwilling or incapable of examining the philosophical meaning of movies, are going to see it as some action movie with a bunch of shooting and explosions. But then they are probably forgetting its a Wachowski movie which means none of it can be taken literally anyway.

Donate on the 5th or the 11th or whenever as long as we get people to do it!
I think that between the second money bomb, 5th and 11th of Nov, the campaign will rake in like 2.5 million!!!
The Problem with the 5th
Is that certain not so reputable organizations have latched on to it, and some Anti-Paul Media will say that all the money raised on the 5th come from these organizations.
I liked the V for vendetta movie, and intended to donate on Nov 5. Now I am considering Nov 11, for the above reason.

Have these people actually SEEN the movie? Which is more to the point I think, as for the reason, of this being replicated - than the historic day. Those who are pretty much ignorant imo, research the day - see the historical context about trying to blow up parliament... So they THEN go wet their pants. Totally missing the symbology etc. My opinion, screw you guys - and go ahead with it.

I'm not a fan of the masks etc, of Guy Fawkes etc everywhere. Say at Halloween, as this issue is tied into it a bit. Would prefer RP gear, sure. But like he said, "Have Fun with it!". If anyone can offer some alternate perspectives, I'd love to hear them. I am always open to persuasion. But if you have NOT seen the movie, your opinion remains invalid on this topic, until you do.

Well, I saw the movie V just recently....and to be honest...I was directed towards it during a political discussion. The person I was talking to knew that I was a Ron Paul supporter and said I would like it. Which I did.
I think that certain Hollywood directors ect... are trying to tell us something without having to come right out and say it....

But my comment here goes to the movie V....as for the movie itself...NO...it doesn't support what Dr. Paul supports..BUT..it does show where we will be WITHOUT him.
And as a Catholic girl who has made all her sacraments (save for the last rites) I don't think the movie is linked to any religion...it just so happens that V wants to remember Fawkes...you could substitute that with any anti government martyr you'd like...and as for the violence...well, it's hard to escape anything today without some violence in it.
What I'm more amazed at is that in all my years of CCD I've never heard of Fawkes before now. You would think someone that devoted to his faith would be talked about...and don't say it's cause he was violent....lots of supporters of our Lord were forced to kill. Moses, David, Samson...just off the top of my head. And I'm NOT slamming them either. They had to do what they had to do....

November 5th
The reason why the idea of November 5th came about was not originally intended to be a focus on Guy Fawkes or V for Vendetta. It was more a reason to get public awareness so we could all unite as one entity and donate on one particular day. If I were to say to anyone of you lets donate on Nov 1st for Ron Paul would you? It would probably cross your mind but lets face the facts there is no meaning behind that day.
The November 5th idea of V for Vendetta is this, for those who have not seen it. There is a repressive military type government like the Nazis that manipulate their people through television. The main character V inspires people by using the day the 5th of November much like were doing for Ron Paul. It's not about the man, a man can be forgotten and die. Ahh but the message it can live on for 1000's of years.
