Except for the people in the House session. Closed secret session of the house started at 10:30 PM eastern time and will go on for an expected hour.

So, the objections came BEFORE they shut the door.
Bush must really be worried and knows something is coming down the pike and wants immunity.
Don't worry, he/they will get what is coming to them - this is, after all, the short life. It's eternity that should really concern them!
Ask youself. What is the stumbling block with FISA? and why the
secret session? Bush says that he will VETO any FISA bill that comes out of Congress that does not include immunity for the telecom companies that agreed to cooperate with the federal government in spying on U.S. citizens. It's all for U.S. corporations that Roy Blunt is taking the unprecedented step of dragging the congress into secret session. Like Obey said "this is all B.S."...

but those examples don't sound too Earth shattering. I thought it may be something more dramatic, like "what the hell is on the list to sell the public on the economy is just doing fine ".
that's the problem...
We don't know what in the hell they are talking about. The other ones could have been about just about anything but we'll never know. Every time our government becomes less transparent, it usually means the American people get screwed in the end.
So they they are just saying
in public that is has to do with revisions to surveillance blah,blah issues, and is about something else entirely.
I don't know about that...
I'm sure it's about all the success stories that have come about because of FISA. All the plots disrupted...all the terrorists caught. My only point is that if this legislation has done such good, why not let the American people know about all its success? They could certainly do that without jeopardizing national security I would think. After all, aren't "we the people" the entities that this bill is designed to protect?
Meeting in secret undermines the faith of the American people in their government (if they ever took time to notice) and only serves to set the precedent for more future secret meetings.
