Huckabee supporter here

As a former supporter for Huckabee, I am trying to decide who to vote for. Right now, I am leaning towards no one, but I am giving the McCain camp and the Paul camp a chance to sway me. I am very open minded and I agree with issues from both candidates. I have a major question for the Paul supporters that I cant seem to get answered: What legislation has Ron Paul EVER penned in his congressional career that would lead you to believe he is cut out for the job....hell any piece of worthy legislation period would be nice. I have found nothing. Any other additions to why I should vote for him would be greatly appreciated.

Ex-Huckabee Supporter...
Glad to see you checking the only honest, Constitutional abiding candidate there is. I will tell you why I personally support Ron Paul. These are the following reasons:
He stands for WE THE PEOPLE, AND OUR CONSTITUTION.
He stands for Civil Liberties, and Freedom.
He stands for Limited Government, with no or low taxes.
He stands for Securing Our Borders.
He knows that America and it's military should NOT be the policemen of the world.
He stands for a sound monetary system.
He stands for Free trade, and transactions with other nations, but not at the expense of selling out jobs, or our nation.
But more importantly he stands for what our Founding Fathers wanted for this nation, which was Peace, Prosperity, and the pursuit of Happiness.
This man, Ron Paul cannot be bought by any of the lobbyists, media tycoons, or big corporations, and that is why they are so against him.
Ron Paul stands for the People of this great nation.
Please research him, listen to him, go to Youtube, or read any of his writings. This man is the most honest, and Patriotic American I will ever see in my day. I will tell you I am a Christian, my beliefs, and faith brought me to Ron Paul. I will not speak too badly of McCain, but I will tell you, McCain has absolutely no idea of how our economy works, granted I do not believe our government should dictate how the economy should work, that has been our problem all along, just ask Bernanke. McCain will say, and do anything to be elected. My biggest gripe with McCain is how he chose to leave so many POW's behind, and close all the files, including his so we could not have true closure on our missing POW's in Vietnam. If we allow all free markets to work, and the American people to run businesses without so much government we would have less taxation, and less government intrusion. Sound companies that make the right choices, and conduct their businesses with good work ethics are the ones who prosper, along with their employees, and I truly believe that is the path that I as a Ron Paul supporter would like to see. Such companies prosper, and the economy thrives when this happens. We have way too much government intrusion, and intervention which has led us down this path of destruction, and we must change. Ron Paul has given supporters the tools and the knowledge to do this, and as a former United States Air Force Officer, and American citizen, I will continue to do my part, and keep the American dream alive for the future generations with my vote for Ron Paul. I hope I have covered everything, if not email me at tessieslace@aol.com
Thank you,
Tess
I'm curious...
It seems from your comment that you think that the ability to draft legislation in congress is the test of a viable leader for our nation? Don't you know that any mere ambulance chasing attorney can do that?
Allow me to add some perspective. What we need is a leader, and a candidate worthy of that title must, at the minimum, have:
1. Vision-a view of the future that makes sense for the greater good, and the ability to express that vision in a compelling and believable way so that people can understand and buy into it
2. Character-He or she has an exemplary record of consistency, morality, faithfulness, integrity—acting in line with what they claim to believe, for example, not admitting publicly that they would set aside the constitution "in a heartbeat" as Huckabee did...also, having no taint on their record, no allegations about past acts that cannot be disproved
3. Competence-Higher education in any field the disciplines of which indicate that they can think constructively, solve problems, learn, adapt, communicate, make decisions, negotiate and otherwise function in ways consistent with high responsibility
4. Experience-Having many years of responsibility, preferably at the federal level to be equipped to play the game those snakes play in Washington, but ideally (as a kicker) a career outside government with a proven track-record of achievement; Dr. Paul has delivered 4,000 babies in his medical career
By those four tests there is now, and has always been, only one candidate who qualifies to lead the nation (if anyone truly can) at this critical time, and that's Dr. Ron Paul.
It is a shame and a condemnation to the people of this nation that they are not incensed and insulted by the lineup of frauds, quacks and posers that have been presented as candidates for president (other than Dr. Paul).
And in case you're one of those who was enamored of Huck because of his "preacher" status, Dr. Paul is a truer Christian on his worst day than Huckabeen ever thought of being... no offense intended. It's not what they say, but what they do that counts.

"I am giving the McCain camp and the Paul camp a chance to sway me."
What, are you shopping for a washing machine? Instead of letting salesmen tell you what to do, how about taking some responsibility for your own decision?
Do your research and make up your own mind. And decide based on what you think is best for the country, rather than "picking the winner" or trying to figure out who is "electable."
As John Quincy Adams said, "Always vote for principle, though you may vote alone, and you may cherish the sweetest reflection that your vote is never lost."
Win or lose...Don't blame me! I voted for Ron Paul!

Well there you have it Huckelbuck. Bills sponsored in one Legislative session. Let me know when you have finished reading the Bills from the 2007/2008 session and I will provide you with a list of other Bills from the 2006/2007 - 2005/2006 - 2004/2005 - 2003/2004 - 2002/2003 - 2001/2002 - 2000/2001 - 1999/2000 - 1998/1999 - 1997/1998 - 1996-1997 Legislative sessions. If you like we can go back to the 1976 to 1884 sessions.
Enjoy the read. Also check out http://ronpaullibrary... with over 1000 articles and speeches by Dr. Paul, some with video.

Well, good luck to you all ,this campaign was a lot of fun and I actually had some hope for our country for first time ever but it's now too late, people are too ignorant, the media is too corrupt, most of our representatives have been compromised through blackmail etc.,the American people have turned into brainwashed , docile cowards who will believe the economy's still o.k. even after their child has starved to death right before their very eyes ,so good luck ,your gonna need it . Maybe one day that wall your screaming at will finally respond .

Vote for him because it's the intelligent thing to do. Get government off our asses. Break the trend. Let's not keep the same old stale people in there doing the same old stale things.
That should be enough. But just in case it's not...
He's a man of his word. He's squeeky clean. He's not part of the status quo that has their boot on our collective necks.

"GINO" = Government In Name Only
Legislation doesn't have to pass...
Legislation doesn't have to pass to be good legislation. In fact, if you look at the track record of our Congress, if it doesn't pass, it probably IS good legislation.
Have you not noticed that our federal government is bought and sold many times over? Lobbyists, campaign contributors, huge international corporations shoving money in all their pockets.
The reason Ron Paul is the only choice is because of his INTEGRITY. He's never accepted any of their gifts and bribes.
If you'll notice on his website...
He has never voted to raise taxes.
He has never voted for an unbalanced budget.
He has never voted for a federal restriction on gun ownership.
He has never voted to raise congressional pay.
He has never taken a government-paid junket.
He has never voted to increase the power of the executive branch.
He voted against the Patriot Act.
He voted against regulating the Internet.
He voted against the Iraq war.
He does not participate in the lucrative congressional pension program.
He returns a portion of his annual congressional office budget to the U.S. treasury every year.
Congressman Paul introduces numerous pieces of substantive legislation each year, probably more than any single member of Congress.
Notice that at the end it talks about the legislation that he introduces. The reason he can't get his bills passed, is because the majority of his bills are dealing with getting rid of corruption in our government. And they really just can't have that. That's the honest truth.
He puts forth legislation like declaring war, instead of going in under a U.N. resolution. Or eliminating the income tax.
He also introduced legislation to protect our freedom to choose natural supplements in therapeutic dosages for prevention of disease, our rights to choose untainted foods over GMO, our rights to choose alternative health care. Why won't the others answer the questions? Because they are in bed with big pharma, chemical companies, etc. Do the research. Why do you think this issue is NEVER talked about? Billions of people choose natural supplements for prevention of disease, and are also choosing alternative health care. If this issue was discussed, it would be a lose/lose situation for them no matter which stance they took. Check out http://www.mercola.com . It's another doctor's website. Put Ron Paul in the search bar on his site and you can read more about this.
Also put in "flouride" and you'll learn about how flouridaion of our water is a scam they sold us to get rid of flouride pollution back in the 1940's. Our federal government is not all that honest about anything.
Big government, big corruption, and the Federal Reserve printing "phoney money" has to end. That's what Dr. Paul's all about.
He's been telling everyone since we went off the gold standard in 1971 that our paper currency would never last. And now, he's being proven right. He's been schooling Bernanke on the evils of inflation and the absurdity of having a central bank issue our money. The Fed is tanking our economy right now, and they it doesn't look like they are going to do anything to save the dollar crash... they just keep printing more and devaluing it even further.
Ron Paul vs. Ben Bernanke of the Federal Reserve
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xTBrJNipytg
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gldETRlhiXk
Ron Paul has address all the major issues facing this country right on the money...
The fact that we aren't on the gold standard, so the Fed can debase our currency.
The fact that the Fed has virtually NO congressional oversight.
The war in Iraq has to end. We can't afford it.
Strong on immigration reform.
Strongly against the upcoming North American Union that some have proposed.
Stongly against violations of our rights in the name of "security" like the Patriot Act. Are you really scared of terrorists? Enough to give up all your individual rights and freedoms?
I'm more scared of our own government.
If you think the government is headed in the wrong direction... Ron Paul is the man.
RP Addressing the House in 1984
"...I am, however, the first to admit the limited impact I've had on the legislative process. By conventional wisdom, I am "ineffective," unable to trade votes, and champion anyone's special privilege – even my own district's. It places me in a lonely category here in Washington. If the political career is not the goal sought, possibly the measuring of "effectiveness" should be done by using a different standard.
The most I can hope for is that someday a suggestion I've made is remembered: that the debate would shift to a different plane. Instead of asking which form of intervention and planning government should impose, perhaps someday Congress will debate intervention versus nonintervention, government versus voluntary planning, U.S. sovereignty versus internationalism – the pros and cons of true liberty. Today the debate basically is only that of deciding who will be the victims and who the beneficiaries. I hope the hours of debate over the mechanisms of the political system orchestrated by the special interests will give way to this more important debate on freedom. The lack of this debate was my greatest disappointment. Only rarely did I see small fragments of this discussion, and then merely as a tactic for short-term gain rather than because of a sincere belief in the principles of liberty and the Constitution..." Passing legislation is not the measure of a good congressperson. Protecting liberty and the American way of life is far more important.
I would encourage you to read the legislation he has penned rather than what has passed. http://www.ronpaullibrary.org/ is a good source for more information. That will give you an indication of the kind of man he is. And if you were a Huckabee supporter, I imagine a person's character is of vital importance to you.

At least, when I've checked periodically today, he logged out and hasn't reappeared since his post way at the bottom of this list. Has he?
I really love the huge list I can bookmark of Dr. Paul's legislation and all the rationales presented. But I'm not sure we'll hear from the guy again.
Lets not bad mouth McCain... Answer the man's question.
Personally, seeing as how the President's sole legislative responsibility is to veto bills, I think that Paul's voting record is far more important than the legislation he has sponsored. You can find that information out at http://votesmart.org/
OK, back to answering your question.
Your question is merited, and you can find some information on recent legislation the good doctor has sponsored here: http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery
Basically the majority of the legislation Paul sponsors has to do with amending Tax laws, altering the mandate of the government in regards to social programs, making our foreign policy less aggressive and putative, and protecting our civil liberties.
Some pieces of legislation I find noteworthy are:
1) Ron Paul's proposed declaration of war against Iraq.
(It was shot down in committee... neither Democrats, nor Republicans wanted to go through the motions of actually declaring the war. They preferred to cede their constitutional responsibility to the executive branch.)
2) His proposal to require that the Federal Government invest all Social Security funds in American business and financial institutions.
(As opposed to simply using the funds for other programs and discretionary spending)
3) His proposal to eliminate income tax on Social Security benefits on the grounds that such taxation was essentially taxing an individual's income twice.
(That one is kinda self explanatory...)
4) His proposal to to repeal the Military Selective Service Act.
(I'm a 21 year old man, and I find it insulting that they A. believe I need to be coerced into serving and B. believe that they have the authority to force a private citizen into the armed forces. If this country ever found itself involved in a just war I think you'd be hard pressed to find a man (or woman) that would not do everything within their power in order to ensure our victory. )
Just to name a few...
If your looking for legislation that was actually passed, that might be harder to find. As far as I can tell quite a lot of Dr. No's proposals are struck down in committee... most congressmen, and women, would rather not debate the merits of the premises they use to justify our foreign policy, federal programs, and the erosion of the rights guaranteed by the first ten amendments.
Feel free to request additional information or clarification. I'd be happy to help. I hope this helps you make a more informed decision on who to support.

Look at the Reasons not to vote for McGungrabber
McAmnesty is rated F- by Gun Owners of America. How could a Huckabee supporter who supports gun rights vote for McCain?
All the other Republicans who endorsed McCain sold out their base. Romney got Tancrato's endorsement then he flushed the immigration issue down the toilet by endorsing the idiot who wrote the amnesty. Now he is hanging around to collect the matching funds? That is not conservative.
Huchabee wants to end the IRS..... McCain?? No. He is a big government tax and spend war monger.
further reasons why McCain would be the worst Pres. EVER
For the low-down on McCain, read two articles:

If you're interested in Dr. Paul's positions, check out his archive of articles at http://www.wcltam.com/news/special/articledetail.cfm?article....
His pieces on economic and monetary issues are particularly worth reading. Dr. Paul has written more books on economics than McCain has even READ. America is facing perhaps the worst economic crisis in its history (including the crash of '29 and the Great Depression), and Ron Paul is the only candidate with ideas to improve the situation, rather than exacerbating it.
