anyone else pissed that stephen colbert is running for president? i mean i like colbert but come on. i know for a fact hes going to take ron paul voters from the internet and young people.

Harmless but not original
Comedian Pat Paulsen did the same thing in 1968. He got a few votes and a few laughs.
The non-harmless part:
The real contenders were Nixon running as the anti-war candidate with a "secret plan" to exit VietNam "with honor", against Democrat "Happy Warrior" Hubert Humphrey who promised to further expand the welfare state that had already started the US on the road to inflation and bankruptcy. Sound familiar? Segregationist George Wallace ran as an independent and got a sizable vote.
By the way, two years later winner Nixon imposed wage and price controls and abandoned Gold backing of US currency.

Its Colbert. The whole things a joke, its a satire. INCLUDING him running for President. IT's ALL a beat up for his show, think of all the material that he can do. Plus it's a way, he can easily justify talking about it.

Ok..so I'm being a tad bit hypocritical...if it was any other year...any other candidates...fine. I'd probably think it was hysterical and vote for him myself. But I do know for a fact that he is going to take voters...my 21yr old step-son was all for Dr. Paul. Handing out stuff and everything but he says if he can he will vote Colbert. I could have died. Hopefully this will all just fade away on it's own. ::fingers crossed::

I'm pretty sure that he is in violation of election laws since Comedy Central is keeping his show on the air. USA cant show Law & Order reruns w/ Freddy, so comedy central must remove Colbert. Even if this is a joke, he has DECLARED and since he has declared his intention to run, he is running, which means the election laws apply to him.
