WE CAN WIN : Keep this up extremely important : How we are winning with the delegate process explained in depth.
UPDATED : March 13th 2008
I was an administrator for the Democratic party for over 6 years and am well educated in the nomination process. I left the party to support Dr. Ron Paul, and assure you that I know what I am talking about.
The founders set the system up as it is to assure that there would be no false or fraudulent support for a candidate, thus forcing THE PEOPLE to become involved in the election process and to show actual support for their candidate.
They wanted to make sure they would protect us from VOTE FRAUD and to make sure that a candidate did not win a “beauty contest” but instead win an election based upon merit.
Any candidate and their supporters can do exactly what we are doing if they choose to do so.
I am sure from the reports we have received that McCain does not have real support or he would have the delegates he needs, registered as delegates, to vote for him in the upcoming conventions.
PLEASE, if you doubt my post, research it yourself here : http://www.gop.com/images/2008_Call_FINAL.pdf
Most of you have heard me say this many times but i am adding this to satisfy the few people out there that have claimed i am LYING to people so let me make this clear for any new readers.
You must obtain a copy of your bylaws in your county and your state to understand all you can do and can't do.
PLEASE, EVERYONE, COPY AND SEND THIS TO THEIR EMAIL LISTS AND MEETUP HEADS AND ANY OTHER RON PAUL FORUMS.
Now that Romney and Huckabee are out of the race our job becomes harder as we must continue to obtain every delegate we can to have a shot at this convention in September so call your friends and your old meetup people and get them involved for the brokered convention is become slimmer unless we can control some states and unbind our delegates at the state conventions.
This is an extremely needed read for anyone going to a convention for it will explain the language needed when passing resolutions, objecting and over all how the game is played by the current RNC rules : http://www.robertsrules.org/
If you can’t be a delegate because it is too late to register, you can still help us at the convention.
Use these two links and help us win:
http://www.gopconvention.com/volunteer/general.aspx & http://msp2008.com/volunteer.php
I know many of you are new to the election process but don't worry, as I am going to go into how this all works. So read and then read again, if you need to.
Did you know that the delegates can actually vote to unbind their delegates that are bound by state rules?
Did you know that delegates can actually overturn any previous vote?
Did you know the delegates have control of the entire process?
Mass media (MSM) is not reporting how to become the nominee in a situation like this so I suggest that you stop getting your info from the MSM.
I know many of you are bummed about Dr. Paul not getting more votes in the states popular vote BUT THAT IS BECAUSE YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW THE ELECTION SYSTEM WORKS : Let me explain to you the reality of how this functions to become the nominee.
First, stop looking at who wins each state’s popular vote. For most of the states, the vote by the people is really nothing but a straw poll and has no real bearing on who will become the nominee. The only way this matters is if one person receives 1191 delegates that are bound by state rules to be committed to a candidate. So if a candidate like McCain now has 586 HARD DELEGATES but if he doesn't reach 1191, WHICH HE MAY NOT, most of the delegates the state “awarded” him mean nothing. Keep in mind that in most of the states most of the people that represent the 1200 for McCain are actually Ron Paul supporters, Romney and Huck people.
Normally, Convention Delegates do not matter because the convention is not brokered and we would have a clear winner if someone has 1191 delegates. BUT THIS YEAR IS DIFFERENT. This we will try to force a brokered convention – there is no way around it. Do you see how the Ron Paul campaign strategy will work if we all get involved?
When a candidate wins delegates by winning a primary, that does not mean there are actual people that are appointed a delegate, acting as delegates – these are virtual delegates.
What do I mean by virtual delegates: A virtual delegate is just a number – there are no actual people YET that will go and vote for the candidate who won the particular state at the national convention. We call these people convention delegates.
The actual delegates are voted on (in most states) at a statewide delegate caucus after the Primary (which is just a giant preference poll) Who can be delegates? Anyone. In closed Primary states they must be registered Republicans, in Open Primary states they can be Republicans, Democrats, or Independents. Obtain a copy of your bylaws to see what you must and can change so you can obtain the advantage when you enter your convention.
View the hard count of actual pledged delegates here : http://www.thegreenpapers.com/P08/R.phtml
And we have lots of delegates...
Out of the 2,380 delegates sent to Minneapolis St. Paul in September- - -
- 463 delegates are bound all the way through the convention. Some of those 463 are Ron Paul’s people.
- 565 delegates will be bound through one ballot. That is, they have to follow the results of the state election on the first ballot. After that, if no candidate has a majority of delegates, they are free to vote as they please, and McCain will not receive over 50% on the first ballot.
- 383 will be bound through two ballots, then they are free to vote for whom they wish.
- 318 will be bound through three ballots, then they are free to vote for whom they wish.
I am not going to list every state and what the breakdowns are, just do the math from these numbers or look them up for yourself here :
http://www.gop.com/Images...
The bottom line is, less than 1/2 of the delegates are bound by state party rules at this point considering Huck and Romney are suspended for their delegates will either be released or will vote for them until they become released or our people at some of these state convention vote and succesfully unbind thier delegates.
Now do you see how we can win this thing?
So what happens now, you ask? Look at the number of delegates that Dr. Paul has that are uncommitted to the other candidates and will support him These delegates are not decided by the popular vote (straw poll) of the people. Since no one will probably have enough delegates to skate them through to the nomination we now must look at how many delegates, NOT VOTES, but delegates Dr. Paul has that are 100% uncommitted to the other candidates and will be 100% for Dr. Paul since they are free to vote for whom they wish.
This race will go all the way to the national convention, as there is no other way for someone to receive the nomination until then NOT EVEN MCCAIN.
The Republican National Convention will convene its annual Winter Meeting - and voters will continue to cast their ballots in the nation's primaries and caucuses. Candidates for delegate and alternate delegate to the convention will be elected - and thousands of convention participants and guests will begin planning their trips to Minneapolis-Saint Paul The first week in September, 2008.
SO WHAT DOES ALL THIS MEAN?
This means that all of the people that registered to become a delegate for Dr. Paul can go to the convention and cast their vote for Dr. Paul. Now think about what I just said. Do you think for one second that all the people that voted for Dr. Paul and filed to become a delegate will not show up at the convention to vote for the good doctor? Of course they will, just like they battled the rain and the sleet and the 15 below zero winter weather to knock on doors and wave signs spreading our message.
Now I assure you that even though we didn't win the popular vote in many states, WE WILL PICK UP THE MAJORITY OF DELEGATES OVER ALL THE OTHER CANDIDATES IN MOST STATES. So yes, they won the straw poll, and we won what counts – which is delegates.
Q: Doesn't Dr. Paul need to WIN 5 states to be on the ballot at the convention for the nomination?
A: NO, THIS IS NOT TRUE for people were just confused on how the process actually works.
We only need the majority of delegates from 5 states to be put on the ballot, NOT THE POPULAR VOTE OF 5 STATES, and I assure you we have picked up the majority of uncommitted delegates for Dr. Paul in more than 5 states!
Do any of you remember seeing posts by myself and many others that said BECOME A DELEGATE? There is still time in most states to become a delegate for the convention and we are picking up more of them every day.
So please STOP! ...worrying so much because you did not understand how the election system works and you might have thought we lost, didn't you? I assure you we have not!
The fact is Dr. Paul is a genius in his strategy and we are further ahead in delegates than you think and we can win the nomination.
I hope this gives you a better understanding of how we have been winning, even though most of you thought we were not.
NOW LET'S KEEP WORKING. FILE TODAY AND BECOME A DELEGATE BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE!

Today is the day of the March on Washington, D.C. July 12th.
I am listening to the broadcast on RevolutionBroadcasting as I write this.
I notice that there are over 79,000 signed up to the GiveMeLiberty.org/revolution site in support of the We The People Foundation which recently served every Congressman and Senator with the seven petitions.
That takes courage because the government has intimidated Bob Schulz by asking for the names and addresses of each signer in the past.
Also over 68,000 are signed up at Ron Paul's www.campaignforliberty.com
If only everyone would donate literally a couple of bucks to the project to give every Republican delegate to the nominating convention at www.dvds4delegates.com to keep that effort alive.
It is the only viable feasible way that we can stop McCain and have Ron Paul chosen to be the nominee.
Two bucks a piece if not as much as you can afford.

do you have a link or a source for this?? I have been telling people this, but since the media does nothing but F***ing lie to people all day every day on this issue...most people are brainwashed to believe it is hopeless. Why is this bumped from MARCH???
I hate to break it to ya, but all of the primaries are OVER. And there aren't too many state conventions left to elect delegates, if any. The date is July 11th 2008. Wake up Van Winkle!!
While I generally agree this plan might have worked, we needed to know all of this from the start last fall. So many of us weren't able to participate because we missed deadlines from November of '07 and before.
Look, if you still have a chance to be a delegate from your state, I highly encourage it. And there may be an outside possibility that McCain will not have over 50% on the first ballot, but not really likely. Most people who are GOP delegates are go with the lemming herd, "I have to defeat the anti-christ by supporting his spawn" sort of people. They only think in terms of who the media tells them they have to vote for. Republicans who are in the inside of the party and go to convention are not know for their independent streak or their ability to think for themselves. Most of them are likely upset that we haven't nuked Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Syria or Palestine yet and are probably a little miffed we didn't take the opportunity to nuke the USSR. I don't think you're going to find many friends in St. Paul.
While it is true the delegates will control the whole process, the big question is do you have enough delegates to do that? You'd need in some cases a 2/3 majority to change party rules and provisions of their by-laws. That's kinda hard to muster with maybe a hundred or so delegates out of over 2000.
You said you didn't have time for the math, but the math is what counts. Can ANYONE here find out EXACTLY what the count of delegates pledged to and supporting or leaning to all the candidates is, what states they come from, how long they are pledged and what states are still open for delegate selection?
I keep seeing people spout the possibilities, but no one seems interested in crunching the numbers and giving us facts.
If you want people to keep fighting, how about telling us WHICH states still have the process not yet completed and where it stands. Without knowing this concrete information, people are either less likely to get involved, or may not even think about it if they don't see that there is still an opening to go to the RNC from their state.
If you don't have the hard, concrete numbers of who Ron Paul delegates are and where they come from, how are you to know if it is even possible to prevent McCain from taking the first ballot? Or changing any rules? Or getting Paul on the ballot at all?
This type of fight requires lots of specifics, not fly by the seat of your pants, go with the flow, non-organization. People need to know deadlines, dates, whens, wheres, and how-tos. It needs to be spelled out in black and white like a recipe or assembly instructions. Without that, all this pep talk is just that, pep - it will produce little in the way of real action.
We know the possibilities. Pep talks have a short fuse these days.
WE NEED FACTS, not possibilities.
thanks for your post...

I will find the post where the numbers were crunched...until then know this...,
they have been crunched and people will realize shortly that mccain cant wont win...and that people will most likely vote for RON Paul when the convention goes brokered....
Jdayh, me and a few others have made several attempts to find
out the EXACT count, but have not had much success. We know a few states but could really use the help in learning the numbers from the rest of them. Jdayh has started a thread that we have been trying to keep up to gather numbers, but so far it has been pretty much a failure since no one has stepped up to the plate to volunteer their state's numbers. In fact, if you are from a state not listed in the following thread, we would love to hear your numbers so we can do the calculations and get the solid facts everyone is seeking! Your help would be greatly appreciated! :-)

if those Ron Paul Republicans facing GOP incumbents in NV and WA can win their primaries, it would be a good boost.
Also: we need to have at least 100 000, but preferably 250 000 names signed up for the "Campaign for Liberty", also to demonstrate to the GOP not only our base support, but also ability to raise say 85-100 m USD or more within a very short time. If Dr. Paul would get the nomination, he has to compete with Obama, who would by that time already have raised millions more and McCain could also raise a few million already so far. Also: Dr. Paul received not a lot of exposure on media, while especially Obama already so much and McCain also some.
Speculor
You hit on a couple of good points. 1 The media...we need to somehow infiltrate the media. If any of you have contacts, do what you can please. We might also make a media friends list...and make sure that they stay well within the loop, while reaching out to the antagonists and if they have blogs, get involved there. 2. Obama. According to WorldNet Daily, he is not the choice of all Democrats, see:
http://www.worldnetdaily.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=6...
"2 million angry Democrats reject Obama?
Raise $10 million for Clinton campaign debt, urge her return"
So they are claiming 2 million - we need to reach out more to the angry Republicans and swell out numbers. So there is opposition to Obama and McCain, well, why not, they both have the potential to ruin us if they get the presidency. So, maybe getting both Conventions, the RNC and the DNC, into real discussions of the candidates and the issues and overturning the wishes of the two parties' leadership, might be the direction this is all headed. No wonder there is a huge budget for "science fiction" type weapons to use against dissidents at the conventions...? The latest polls show that Bush is very unpopular, the Congress is also unpopular...it's time, Dr. Paul is so right...we have to take our country back and on the Convention Floor would be the way to do it. We can win...oh, it won't be a walk in the park and we have to want it very badly, but we can.

McCain's current delegate count?
I think I saw on CNN today a bottom-screen banner that showed McCain now has over 1400 delegates (I forget the exact number). Can anyone please confirm that? Is that actual delegates or predicted? I've been named an alternate to my state convention but I'm hesitating as to whether to go or not. I'd still like to go if my Meetup can reach its ChipIn goals.

Go if you Can
State Conventions are important opportunities to network, get platforms approved, make yourself seen and heard. I realize that depending on your state, you may have significant costs associated with the trip, but if you can make it you should go!!! McCain's "1400" consist of projected delegates and solid delegates alike, and some of those delegates are not bound. Is it likely Dr. Paul will win? No. Is it possible? Yes. More importantly, it's likely that Dr. Paul and his supporters will be able to influence the platforms in various states, and if we stay loud get a real chance to address the RNC.

I did.....thanks Steve. Dear Mr. Pearce:
I was wondering if you knew that the GOP had the Peppermill's Tuscany BallRoom for two days, Saturday and Sunday. I contacted several employees and they confirmed the Republican National Convention was happening for two days. Paperwork went out confirming the same thing.
I was wondering if you had been curious as to why the rumor of paying a person $70,000 to organize this event and why Senator Bob Beers did not choose to reconvene on Sunday?
I have noticed that in Texas, Montana, Missouri, and other states they have their state convention set up for two and three days.
Would it not cost a lot more money to reschedule such an event? Does this cost us the taxpayers? Senator Bob Beers has stated that it would have cost a lot more money to keep the stage hands, videographers, etc. What about the cost to the delegates that are representing the people of our state, is this not an enormous burden on them as well? However, I feel that it would cost a lot more for a do-over event. Why were the preceedings not finished?
I thought as a journalist you would be interested to finding some of these things out and reporting them to the public. We the People would like to know.
Thank you for all your forthright reporting for all these years.
Sincerely,
An a American.
