Red State Learns From Fox News
Submitted by ronpaulrox on Wed, 10/24/2007 - 12:06It seems that Red State has taken a tactic straight from the Fox News playbook. Remove the possibility of alternative viewpoints (Luntz's hilariously biased "focus group") and let the bashing begin:

"How to spot Ron Paul supporters in your hometown."
As the 2008 Presidential Campaign rolls on, it is becoming increasingly clear that a handy, easy-to-utilize "cheat sheet" to aid in the identification of Ron Paul supporters might be a desirable tool. It has been my experience that - despite their assertions that they are sweeping the country - Ron Paul supporters can generally be found in a relatively small number of set locations and that they often display similar characteristics:
Sightings:
Comic book shops; on the curb outside big-box chain bookstores; mom's basement; the corner booth at Denny's (after midnight only); Star Trek conventions; 4th period AP English; Renaissance fairs.
Physical Characteristics:
Pasty white skin; split ends; long, dyed black hair (male and female); optional black eyeliner (male and female); black trenchcoat; either exceedingly skinny or exceedingly not.
Paraphernalia:
a battered and dog-eared paperback copy of The Fountainhead; clove cigarettes; thirty-sided dice; an i-Pod (containing only music by Nine Inch Nails and Korn); graphic novels; an (unsigned) petition calling for the legalization of absinthe.
Daily activities:
Dragon-slaying; refusing to dress out for P.E.; brooding; writing "Charmed" fan fiction; complaining about the commercialization of "All Hallows Eve"
How to avoid them:
Attend any sporting event.
Hope this helps. Be careful out there.

Gun owners for Ron Paul
Last time I got together with my Meet-up group we had a booth outside a gun show. Almost all the people at the show were familiar Ron Paul and approved of him. Ron received the GUN RIGHTS award in Kentucky.
Are they kidding???
Who can slay dragons daily?
There's a "Paulite Bashing" frenzy sweeping the nation. Its because they don't know how to deal with it and they are still in the "us versus them" game mode where they think its a game, like we are rooting for two sports teams or still playing the Repubs vs Dems game. Trash talking and discrediting the other team is par for the course. There is a belief that we support Ron Paul just to be different. We all know that is far from the truth and the things we care about are far from being "a game". I'm sure a psychologist would anaylze their behavior as some sort of defense mechanism to deal with something they don't understand.
We are seriously looking at real problems facing this country and trying to prevent lives from being lost in needless wars, while they are cracking jokes and playing games. I support Ron Paul because I believe we need what he would bring.
I just laugh them off and continue introducing Ron Paul to those that care. We don't have to get everyone to listen, and we shouldn't be surprised when some refuse to.
I Agree. They fail to see
I Agree.
They fail to see that we are just like they are.. They need to make it "us vs them" because they can't deal with 1/3rd the Republican party walking out on them.
soo..
They think we are gothic nerds?
Way off the mark, I have short hair and I've never owned a leather trench coat in my life .. (I do listen to metal though) for sports I like boxing, hockey, and various motor sports.
If they want to call names I'm sure we can dig up some hillbilly jokes.

how to spot a real RP supporter
- 29yo research scientist in Orlando, FL
- married with one kid, one on the way!
- employed by a company that does applied research *for the military*
- Republican since birth, though I voted for Badnarik in '04
- addicted to RPR ever since the first debate I saw back in May.
- been slowly hammering away at my father (a Bush supporter) for months. Starting to make headway!
... Red State an their ilk can make their jokes and hold their heads in the sand for as long as they like. The revolution is here!
I think Redstate is just scared of us.
A caricature was much easier to fight. They clearly miss fighting that caricature, and weren't able to manage it intellectually against real Ron Paul supporters. IMO this entire thread makes it clear we're totally "mainstream" in too-many-cases for their arguments to make much sense (or for their jokes to be funny -- I mean, I haven't seen or smelled clove cigarettes for years, and despite seeing ads in Reason I've never tried "absinthe" and I don't know anyone who has!).
They're also scared of http://dailypaul.com/node/4293 our photogenic supporters like that little girl pictured with Dr. Paul in the URL. Brevard just got donated an entire billboard, and I wish we could just blow up that pic to "enormous"! :) What a cutie she is with him. But it looks like we'll do what we're good-at (well, some of us...) which is paint.
Oh, and last night I learned that Dr. Paul has a few supporters in a very conservative Republican Congressman's office, which surprised me because he's a Bush-supporter. On the internet, people will always be nasty, but locally most people are being really-nice, and I believe we're slowly winning them over to our side simply by being nice right back. They're quite ready to admit that we're the only campaign with any young supporters around here, so that part of the caricature is partly true as long as you also apply a counter-caricature of a dying party to the other campaigns. Except in my case -- I'm an old-enough geezer to have voted for Dr. Paul as a Libertarian in 1988, "back when it wasn't cool." ;^} This time is SO much more fun than we had in 1988, and we have a correspondingly-better chance of winning.

Redstate=Sad and Clueless
I'm enjoying reading the comments about who we are-
Me- 30 something SAHM to twin 13 mo. old boys- graduate degree- husband converted to RP- working on the rest of my family. Fantasy Football player (having a bad year though!)- former college athlete.
Babies keep me busy- but spend as much time supporting RP as possible. Totally addicted!
Keep spreading the word people!

It would be great to spam them with a collection of photos of 50 meetup groups. I haven't seen anyone like that in my meetup.

just go to the dentist's office
Funny how pinkstate...
..bans all discussion of Dr. Paul, then has a new diary posting every few hours w/ Dr. Paul in the title.
sounds just like the Bush administration...

I think their descriptions are a little off.
I'll be the 50 year old semi-retired guy, Army vet, kids raised (all 3 thru college), still married, 2 dogs, 1 cat, a squirrel problem in my garden, drives a (paid for, w/ RP bumper sticker) '03 Dodge pick-up, '73 Corvette for the car shows, sitting at the Patriots vs Colts game in my Ron Paul shirt on Nov 4th in Indianapolis.
I did read The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand though, he got one right.
Laughing my ass off
All the same but; 94 GMC 2500, 4 kids and 92 Mustang, saw the Fountain Head, read Atlas Shrugged, damn them squirrels. The kids aren't close near college age yet...thank god.
RP supporter descriptions
LOL...
That's the beauty of this campaign. Our meetup group has folks from all ages and all kinds of backgrounds. Funny, that not ONE of them fits his description. We would love 'em just the same though!
I have converted my 2 of my daughters to Paulies, my only son is stuck on Obama..grrrrrr
Me
40, Indian American, been a citizen for a year, IT Consultant, thought Gandhi was the only role model human being on this earth, now I found another one in Ron Paul.
Me
25 year old, just a girlfriend - not married yet, work in business valuation, drive a 2003 Toyota Matrix, coach high school football, have three younger brothers, run a blog on financial and political topics, play in five fantasy football leagues, have read Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged, went to UC Davis and majored in Communication and Organizational Studies with a minor in Econ, really dislike people who would try to stereotype a mass movement of individuals in such a disturbing and ridiculous way.
This shows the level of simple mindedness, idiocy and ridiculousness of that portion of the debate. Fools!

I even mentioned Dr. Paul in one of my articles....I snuck it in at the end.

To anyone who likes those Gandhi quotes, I guess we're still in the "making fun of" stage? ;)
"- How to avoid?
Attend any sporting event."
LOL. Ron Paul's a cyclist, and theres a clip where he admits his addiction. - Fitness. LMAO
Besides the fact, that - there's whole military football teams, supporting him. Nascar fans. Need I go.
Maybe we should step it up a bit? :p
Avoid us at sporting events? LOL
funny, somebody did a Paul airplane banner over Notre Dame-Michigan and another at a NASCAR event. Booths at tailgates at the Air Force Academy, the MLB playoffs, and some NFL games....excellent mass marketing locations IMO.
This description describes a bunch of teenage Goth sci-fi fantasy gamers planning the next Columbine. Sheesh!
Ron Paul's HR
I think Ron Paul is the only Congressman to ever hit a home run in the Congressional all star baseball game.
There is a video of it somewhere. He is in one of those old Astro's uniforms from the 70's
Watch his swing. He looks like a Pro.

that's what it sounds like to me. Let them keep fooling themselves about us while we keep spreading the freedom gospel. By the time they wake up it will be too late for them.
