What Causes People to Press the Walk Button Over and Over?

I think it's a form of gambling behavior, the way people press the button for the walk signal at stop lights, not realizing this is not a slot machine that sometimes pays off, but a simple switch.

They keep hoping one more press of the button will do the trick, and sometimes it seems to.

Not sure about voting machines.

I personally think this

I personally think this article comes up and people talk about a disease because of the Internet is all envy. They know they can't control it so they come up with these weird scenarios. It's all to scare us. I wouldn't be surprised if the MSM is behind these articles. They want us to leave the Internet so they can hog it and use it as a propaganda tool for their ideas. Unregulated Internet forever, baby (even with its flaws and all, it should be up to the individual to decide what he or she does on a computer)!

Haha!

I am an internet addict. So what?
The pale skin, programmer's physique, and strained eyes are worth it.

The internet is the best thing in the world next to Man-bear-pig.

Fluroidated Water Question

On March 18th, 2008 rawlady says:
3 months ago they put it in CA for the first time.

Woah, woah -- is that why the water coming out of my taps has appeared "milkier" in the past several months?? I was thinking something was up with our house pipes...does fluoridated water look a little whitish, and then as the just-poured water settles a bit, the water returns to (mostly) clear?

No

Fluoride is added to water in the form of a water soluble salt (IE, Sodium fluoride, NaF). The salt dissociates in water to form Na+ and F- (like nearly any other salt). The ions are colorless. What you are seeing in your water *might* be some calcium precipitate. Calcium fluoride (CaF2) is insoluble in water and has a white color, but it's another harmless salt. What you are seeing also might be legions of microscopic air bubbles.

Fluoride ions are harmless in the concentrations that you find in drinking water. The purpose of doing this is a public health issue: It kills bacteria that feed off of sugars in your mouth.

The bacteria produce acidic compounds as a byproduct of their metabolism, and it's that acid that causes tooth decay. NOT the sugar itself.

Fluoride is perfectly safe. It is basically the same stuff that the dentist has you swill and spit, but in a *much* less concentrated form. Sodium fluoride is a poison if you eat too much of it, but so is sodium chloride (table salt). If the state didn't put fluoride in my water, I would have more cavities (that's a promise), and I would be compelled to fluoridate my own water.

I tell you what. Send me a sample of your water (1L will be plenty), and I will tell you exactly what is in it. Email me for a mailing address.

My Shelfari page

Fluoride is so safe

that it is linked to bone cancer, and known to interfere with thyroid function hence a huge increase in many diseases directly related to malfunctioning thyroid.

well, how safe is that ay.

There is plenty of information out there to debunk all your safety waffle.

Please people, do your homework before accepting the crap about fluoride being safe. It's a poison!!

In the spirit of the thread - hypochondria

I am, as we speak, cutting back on black tea because of the high fluoride content.

Turns out fluoride has a downside. This is why it should not be added to water. What does the government know about where I get other sources of fluoride and whether I need it?

Are you kidding??????

Fluoride is perfectly safe?????

I dunno, but if you read The Fluoride Deception

you will REALLY be p.o.ed!!!!
Sigh....it is really sad. The fluoride actually destroys the part of the brain that has to do with will power. I have struggled with that all my life (having been a fluoride drinker, toothpaste, etc.) Doing chlorella helps: it's a green sea veggie that is a metal magnet.
Watch out for TEA---most of it has fluoride too, since the tea plant absorbs this from the earth & air.
Fluoride also DESTROYS THE THYROID, so you gain weight!
It causes OSTEOPOROSIS too!
It ACTUALLY WORSENS THE TEETH.
Google it. Bad stuff!!! You say these folks aren't crazy? They are spraying us like insects.

One thing Internet addiction has caused is that notion that you can win a political campaign by sitting behind your computer and typing

or derail a campaign

.

It also seems to bring out

It also seems to bring out the disinformation agents and trolls such as yourself, you despicable sack of shit!

yes

Your right so go out and tell everyone about Dr. Paul.

The voices in my head say BULL!

We are not addicted to the Internet. We prefer our mental illnesses the old-fashioned way--by repeated exposure to Democratic and non-Paul Republican politics!

My wife calls it my

RON PAUL 2012

Haha, I do have liberty obsession disorder...

Thank you for posting this. The internet does have an addictive quality, but I don't want to start paying for the government to give "crazy checks" to everyone who can't be their own adult and say NO to themselves once in a while. (The article does not suggest gov subsidies, I'm just thinking of where it could lead). Surprise, they mentioned we might need to be on medication for it in the future. I've had people debate this topic with me only recently, and even if I become convinced that internet is truly an "addiction," I think a lot of it comes from people being unsatisfied with reality. At least we live in exciting times...

Yay for Drugs!

They'll say just about anything is a mental illness as long as pharma companies can make a dozen different worthless drugs for it that they can sell at rediculous prices to foolsih people too weak to realize that they're just fine.

~I will never again accept the lesser of two evils.~

~I will never again accept the lesser of two evils.~

slight correction, or addendum

Do not forget that sometimes they invent the drugs first, then make up the disease to treat. Once that patents on antidepressants were running out, big Pharma dreamt this up:
http://www.aafp.org/afp/20021001/1239.html
They put the prozac in a pretty pill, put a new name on it, and got the FDA to say they have the ONLY drug to treat this horrible, new disorder.
I will say it over and over and over - there is NOT a pill for everything. Especially true of life's bumps - pills do NOT smooth over the road, they smooth over YOUR ability to notice the bumps. Is that really what you are after?

Truth exists, and it deserves to be cherished.
