Delegate Revolt
This is so obvious that I had to post it.
Everyone, pls read the post from Jerry, below.
We have had very well-organized grassroots letter writing and phone calling efforts in the past for primaries and caucuses. Now we can target these same techniques once again on a slightly different group of people: the delegates to the national GOP convention to start a delegate revolt.
What I think we need is the names and contact info of every delegate to the national convention. Let's begin a concerted and powerful phone/email/letter campaign and, as the delegates are known, begin contacting every single one of them, including alternates, and pose our case for liberty, the Constitution, and Dr. Paul to them.
They are people. They have their own minds. They will feel 'bound' to do what is right.
Let's discuss. Here, or at the Ron Paul Forums thread.
Jerry writes:
"Several group members have discusssed the question of what it means when we say that delegates are "bound" to vote for a given candidate on the first round.
There is no legal requirement to vote for the candidate to whom they are pledged. Under all but extreme circumstances, they are bound by morality, ethics, and virtue. Otherwise, they cause harm to the candidate who has earned their votes; they undermine any trust that other people should have in them; and they discredit the dignity, unity, and strength of the Republican Party.
Are the circumstances this year extreme enough to violate their pledge? Let's look at each point.
Has McCain earned the nomination, or was he fraudulently given the nod? If he has earned the nomination, it would be an act of immorality toward McCain not to grant it to him.
Were the primaries fairly and honestly conducted? If so, the process was ethical, and a sense of ethics would demand that the delegates respect the results of that process.
Are the circumstances such that the Republican Party and the American Republic would be strengthened by honoring party rules in this instance? If so, voting against McCain would display a lack of virtue.
If the answer to these questions is "no," then morality, ethics, and virtue demand a delegate revolt. To do otherwise would be to abet evil. Not to revolt would be an affront to the dignity of the Republican Party and the security of the American Republic; a stain on the honor of the delegates to the convention; and a betrayal of the man who rightfully earned the nomination.

that could be sticky
could almost be seen as a sort of "witness tampering" thing. The difference between them doing it and us doing it - is that they stand NO chance in swaying the vote of a Ron Paul delegate- before any cold calls are made there should be a clear understanding by any who would undertake such an endeavour. Certainly it happens EVERY year- do people get in trouble for trying to sway a delegate? Are there legal precedents for offering "bribes" etal- is it legal to have a little chat about why you are voting RP ? We certainly should know the legalities or the MSM would be orgasmic having the opportunity to say: "RP mafia calls McCain delegates with an offer they cant refuse"
Remember what Cheney said...
When told that 70% of americans are against the war, he replied "So?".
So? He is betraying the people he represents.....hmmmm If the Vice-President says it, it must be ok to do.....
Agree, but it has to be done
Agree, but it has to be done "**extremely**" carefully. I mean If for some reason I didn't know about a candidate or I had some pre-implanted image/thought from the MSM about a candidate in my mind -- I potentially could find it contrary to the media based view imposed on me (and therefore uncomfortable) if 100,000 people kept hounding/bothering me everyday. (but the opposite could also be true)
- eh well, maybe not said the best -> but it is important to always be "out of the way" curteous and respectful of anyone that we approach, and always remember they are very attached to their MSM driven views on life (it's very very tough/scary/etc for some people to look beyond the TV)
Moral hazard (by wikipedia) is the prospect that a party insulated from risk may behave differently than it would if it were fully exposed to the risk.
I wonder if a revolt
at the national convention has
ever happened in our history?
Anyone know how to find out?
This could be useful information.
Also,are we worried about the
super delegates?They do not
sound like the kind of people
that would be on our side.
only Democrats
have SUPERDELEGATES
One caution
I think it was the Iowa Caucuses where it sounded like people had literally been harassed with phone calls and sounded resentful (I know I would be!)
If each delegate suddenly gets 8000 e-mails or letters, they will *not* be happy!
find out who they are,divvy
find out who they are, divvy up the lists and have elected people do the calling and e-mailing so it wont seem like harrasment...

I think a list would be great
so we could also see who is going to support Ron Paul, and see if they have enough money to travel to the convention. If they don't we could do a chip in for them. Keep up the great work.
