Highway Trooper ramming a man running down a street
More trouble for the South Carolina Highway Patrol after more videotapes were released which show officers behaving badly.
3 weeks ago, Governor Mark Sanford accepted the resignations of both the public safety director James Schweitzer and the Highway Patrol commander Russell Roark.
This, after he viewed tapes, including one from 2004, showing a trooper using a racial slur and threatening to kill a man during a foot chase.

Civic leaders and some lawmakers now want an investigation into the patrol. Those same leaders brought videos showing a patrolman ramming a man running down a side street, and flipping him into a ditch. The trooper later brags he was trying to hit the man.

When asked on the tape you can hear the trooper say, "Yeah, I was trying to hit him. I hit the **** out of him."

You bunch of losers

Great idea, lets alienate the law enforcement community. How stupid are you, tools? Yes, there are some bad cops. We get it. Now, grow up or leave the Ron Paul Revolution and join your local anti-authority gang. Not everybody is a hard core Libertarian. They are a small minority here.

Laws, law enforcement, and participation

Law enforcement is not synonymous with justice.

There are many immoral, unjust, and demonstrably pernicious laws. The drug laws are an excellent modern example.

As a libertarian, it would my preference to solve the underlying problem of backwards, coercive, intrusive, and dangerous laws often passed in the name of "safety", "security", "morality", and "fairness" by repealing them outright. Most of these laws impose the will and fraudulent religious / moral judgments of one individual or group upon others, taking their liberty, life, and property with the power of the State.

Until I see the drug laws repealed, euthanasia laws repealed, gun restrictions repealed, gambling laws repealed, a counterfeit monetary system repealed, blanket government searches and surveillance repealed, etc. I'm going to criticize both the laws and those that voluntarily choose to participate in a system that enforces them.

Considering Paul only got 5%

Considering Paul only got 5% of the vote, they account for at least half of RP supporters. I cant believe your response to abuse of authority is 'yep it happens, its bad, move on.' What a douche.

Notice all Dave Mac can do is insult

... and copy and paste outdated stories to prove a point. He has to seek refuge in the language of the schoolyard because he can't make his points intelligently. As a matter of fact, Dave and I are not THAT far apart on this issue. The difference is that I don't need to demean and collectivise people to try and make a point. I feel sorry for him.

"half"

You're joking. Not even close. You are a tiny minority. You will be gone soon. Off to form your own small movement when you figure out Ron Paul is a Republican and will stay that way for the rest of his life. So will his supporters.

Newsflash

Im a Republican, jackass. Im just not a neocon authority worshipper. We didnt leave the Republican Party, the Bible thumpin fundies took it over like a cancer. We are here to get it back.

Don't worry Dave

As you've said in far too many posts we simply have more supporters than we need !!

Hey, are you guys arguing?

Everyone gather round! TROLL FIGHT!!!

"troll fight"

I'm no troll, sister. I simply will not take any shit from insects like yourself and the other punks in this thread. This revolution is not driven by anarchists, hard core Libertarians, etc. Ron Paul is a Republican. The LE community has our deepest respect and support. Your gang is a tiny minority that will soon be gone. Thank God.

again

Fortune Favors the Bold

keep in mind, there are many punks who actively support Ron Paul.

Fortune Favors the Bold

I agree

Maybe we can get our support down to 2 or 3 percent if we really really try !!

I think that there are

I think that there are likely more libertarians (notice the small "l") than party Republicans among Ron Paul's supporters. But why obsess over labels? All believers and defenders of liberty are welcome here.

Many Libertarians are moving away from Ron Paul

RP is a Republican and that is not OK with many Libertarians. They will try to create their own Revolution and they will fail.

We don't need cancer

these tools are cancer. They will destroy this movement with their stupidity.

DaveMac is at it again

Seriously. He must be the gay lover of a number of Popos.

"at it again"

Suggesting you and your tool friends stop alienating the law enforcement community from Ron Paul. Yep, I'm at it again.

If criticizing cops who

If criticizing cops who break the law is 'alienating the law enforcement community', then Im guilty as charged.

You really should invest in some powder blue kneepads and perhaps some chapstick shaped like a billy club as an accessory.

Nice...

LOL... nice!

Go ahead

just do it on another website, asshole. This website represents Ron Paul not some punk brothel. Have some respect for Dr. Paul and take this crap somewhere else. Immature punks.

For those of you...

...who would like to bring up the harm cops suffer, I present you this. A cop who loses a leg to a bear trap trying to clear out someone's private pot crop deserves it. He was tresspassing with the intent to rob, by force if necessary, in an attempt to enforce an unjust law. You take your chances doing that kinda crap.

A cop who pulls you over for, say, buying some drugs on a corner, with the intent to steal your drugs and put you in jail, deserves to get shot. He is kidnapping and robbing you, and will be willing to risk your life in doing so, all under the auspice of an unjust law.

By no means do I encourage you to attack cops. They are too powerful to resist without organization. Just because an action is just doesn't mean its the right action or the smart action at the time. Choose your battles. But in terms of sympathy for cops? Forget it.

If cops who just do as they're supposed to are unjust thugs of the tyrannical state, what do we call crooked ones who abuse their power more than they're already given leeway to?

This is the result of the war on drugs.

Overload the police with victimless crimes and other minutiae and eventually only creeps and bullies remain cops." -- Rick Gaber

"The more corrupt the state, the more numerous the laws." -- Tacitus, Roman senator and historian (A.D. c.56-c.115)

"The more prohibitions there are, the poorer the people will be. The more laws are promulgated, the more thieves and bandits there will be." -- Lao-tzu, The Tao Te Ching

=
"The State is the coldest of all cold monsters, and coldly it tells lies, and this lie drones on from its mouth: 'I, the State, am the people'." -- Friedrich Nietzsche, Thus spoke Zarathustra, 1883

The so-called "War on Drugs"

The so-called "War on Drugs" was never really about drugs, but was and is first and foremost a war on US and our rights. Remember, always remember, "War is the health of the State". That includes ANYTHING that the state chooses to call a "war" ("War on Terror", anyone?), and it ALWAYS leads to consolidation of state power, and a corresponding loss of personal liberty. Always.

Good quotes...

=)

Its not just the cops but

Its not just the cops but the whole legal system, my brother was released from prison today. After getting off the bus he was arrested for a paper error. Since the Bob Barker owned prison didnt file the correct papers my brother may have to serve his time twice.

Im in the process of hiring a lawyer but this puts the launch of my website on hold. The money will be used for this instead of that and debt.
Now I know the Military Industrial complex needs to make money by locking people up for no reason. But this is crazy, why parole him in Va and transfer it to Ct. to arrest him when he arrives.

For what put him in Va. in the first place? Did they not want to pay for the D.O.C transportation?
Let him pay out his own pocket for a prison transfer and tease him with a bus ride of freedom?

I cant help but think this is in response to my blogging and opening a website. This doesnt stop me one bit just motivates me.

I lost in court before for in a case where they Violated my rights in a search and seizure. They detain personal property that wasnt on the search warrant (Electronics,100s of Dvds,100s of Videos games,Gold jewerly & coins,)

My case was dismissed from court even though the police captain was quoted by The Day newspaper as saying "He had hundreds of Games and dvds" They alleged I bought them with drugs. Headline was "New London Man Trades Games for Drugs" the police inventory has none of the items listed. I still have a copy.

I called the newspaper and said they falsely incrimanated me and I wont receive a fair trial. The reporter Chuck Potter told me that average people would be happy they arrested and me and wouldnt care that my rights were violated. I told him I was in civil litagation with both of them and you unfairly portrayed me. He said good luck and goodbye.

Friends

No use to sit here and argue back and forth over some nonsense.

I think we can all agree that people in positions of power/authority (including police officers) who abuse their power and default on any sense of high moral standing are a scourge and VERY bad for any population. Face it, there are some bad cops and they deserve to be roundly criticized.

On the other hand, there are absolutely some great police officers out there who truly believe in protecting you and your property. We need to respect and honor these folks and not lump all cops together under a bad label.

That all being said, I think unjust laws and policies, most clearly such as those relating to the War on Drugs which creates urban war zones, are what really turn the cops and people against each other.

We need to focus on achieving more just and rational laws and do away with the BS so we can live in peace and have officers who are dedicated to serving justly for the protection of life, liberty and property.

You feel me?

Again, you clowns do not

represent the RP Revolution. You fools thinks it's wise to alienate some of the communities we need the most?? That is just stupid. Pack your shit and get out. You have done enough damage.

Oh look...

.. it's Dave "Strawman" Mac... the punk who makes up "beliefs" and then pretends the other person believes them and then criticizes them for the fake belief that Dave just created out of thin air.

WEAK troll! It is exceedingly rare for Dave to offer anything other than strawmen and ad hominem (name-calling).

Dave is baaaaaack!

=)

"The Straw Man fallacy is committed when a person simply ignores a person's actual position and substitutes a distorted, exaggerated or misrepresented version of that position. This sort of "reasoning" has the following pattern:

1. Person A has position X.
2. Person B presents position Y (which is a distorted version of X).
3. Person B attacks position Y.
4. Therefore X is false/incorrect/flawed."

In this case:

X = "more and more cops are emboldened to do bad things"
Y = "all cops are evil" (dave's distorted lie version of X)

Keep in mind this is ALL Dave ever does. Strawman and ad hominem (childish name-calling instead of addressing the topic-at-hand intellectually)

And you are not a spokeman for Ron Paul

or all of his supporters. I will say this one last time: The GOOD officers on this force are DEEPLY WORRIED about how corrupt this department has become. Ron Paul does not blindly support any group, he supports the rule of LAW, which "pigs" do not uphold.

Truth exists, and it deserves to be cherished.

Give me a break

you use the word pig to describe a cop, etc. You're a punk and bad for this Revolution. Do you use the "N" word to describe some "bad" black folks. Get lost.
