Tax Rebate

President Bush said each one of us would get a $600.00 tax rebate. It was previously slated to be $800.00, but they dropped it to a $600.00 tax rebate because of various budget problems.
Now, if we spend that money at Wal-Mart, all the money will go to China, if we spend it on computers, most of the money will go to Korea or India.
If we spend it on gasoline it will all go to the Arabs .. .and none of these scenarios will help the American economy. We need to keep that money here in America .....so the only way to keep that money here at home is to drink beer, gamble, or spend it on prostitution. Currently it seems that these are the only businesses still left in the U.S.

i think spitzer was using his for the pros! buy silver folks.. all you can get

“A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself: but the simple pass on, and are punished.” (Prov. 22:3; 27:12 KJV)
Hey McCain-----┌П┐(◣_◢)┌П┐
three good things
....to use the money for:
- pay down personal debt
- buy gold and silver
- buy dry food goods
people underestimate the power of the people. imagine if more folks simply did these five things:
- did not use a credit card
- paid off their mortgage
- did not use a bank, except for extreme sytemic necessity
- used alternative fuels
- horded gold and silver
everyone work towards these goals and bring the MAN to his knees.
i turned the issue around in my head
for a long time, do i accept rebate check,,,,from our stellar government which furthers the collapse of the dollar??? or do i take it and use it for a better purpose??? still not entirely set on my decision but i do think, donating to campaign, buying seed, putting up small chicken coop, etc etc.,fortifying my own life as best i can to make it through this oncoming depression,,,,no easy choices anymore are there?
Anyone know....
Did they ever decide if illegal aliens were going to get the "rebate"? I recall they were considering that option. If approved, how will they pass the cost of the "rebates" that go to non-tax payers back onto the backs of tax-payers?
A bribe to find out who doesn't file
The IRS even has a form for those who are *not* required to file a tax return, so that they can get the "rebate".
Will those people, including the tax protesters who refuse to file/pay, then be audited?
Or is that form for the illegal aliens and others with fraudulent SSNs?
Does this "rebate" act as an unofficial "census" with bank account numbers and/or addresses?
Given the likelihood of severe economic problems, is there a reason that our federal government wants to get that trackable information about *everyone*?
Hmm. Will that "rebate" be income taxable by the states for 2008, so they have enough revenue to pay their employees?
i am forwarding my tax return
to the ron paul campaign! since i am at poverty level, i paid in less than i get back so.... this is my way of feeling good about this whole mess!!

Worse
It's the money from a LOAN that USA inc. had to take. We'll pay the money they give us back, plus interest.
So How Does That Make Us Idiots? By The Way //

You've got that reference to us spelled wrong. All those other words were right -- don't blame it on being a foreigner and that's how you spell it. We know, we understand that any $$ we get from the government in the form of a tax rebate means them giving us some of our own $$ back -- the same $$ we are forced (illegally, some have good reason to believe) forced to give them each year. Kinda like a snake eating its own tail, I suppose. But how does that make us idiots? Perhaps you know some secret means of avoiding tax and jail and death? Do tell.

Actually...
.. it's an advance on a tax credit for next year for a retroactive tax break for this year that couldn't be put in the IRS computers fast enough...

NOW, consider yourself the 5% ....... and PASS THE WISDOM ON... also BUY SILVER WITH IT!!!!!!!!!!!!

For those blood-thirsty we now have in control, you know who I mean, just in case they should come looking for 'new blood' to help fight their unjust wars. Maybe I've been watching too many movies // That said -- think I'd still have a couple of those SILVER BULLETS laying around just in case if I were you ;-)

Me too...
I plan on buying as much ammo as I can, or maybe a nice little shotgun for duck hunting.
I think
All of our rebates should go so straight to Ron Paul that no one would wonder if we want out of this stupid government.
i got my tax returns done
i got my tax returns done already. no additional rebates here. but then again im just a single young male getting taxed at over 30% of his income, what on earth would i need a rebate for?
I Remember The Rebate Right After GWB First Became POTUS

_____________
As I seem to recall it varied based upon one's income.
I was listening to this guy on the radio speak about it at the time saying that some rich people really made a bundle of cash, in fact some made enough to go out and buy a brand new car and pay cash for it in total. He said that with what he got, all he could afford to do was put a new muffler on his old beat up '86 Ford.
(Today) Things are far from fair around here, and now they try and buy us off with giving us some of our own $$ back (a rebate). This money this time around is supposed to help offset the mortgage crisis in this country of ours -- now how in the hell is $300 or $600 going to offset anything. It might make a month or two gasoline purchase a bit easier to handle but that's about it. The mortgage crisis continues. Damn that was a depressing thought to share with everybody now wasn't it -- sorry.
-- I'll take the cash, no complaints.

Don't spend it on Budweiser
I remember a post on here about Budweiser screwing us over in our efforts, spend it with Miller or save it to travel to the march. Keep up the great work.

Miller
Miller is owned by a south african company. I prefer to stay with local microbrews. And my all time fav Straub. It is all natural, zero preservatives, no sugar or salt added. www.straubbeer.com
Mine's already spent.
Brass and lead for the win :D
Silver
Silver is going to be the new gold. Get on board while you still can.
rebate checks, what a joke...
and an insult. elected officials spend the country into utter bankruptcy and think that borrowing billions more from china so they can give us all "rebate checks" is going to make everything better (as if $600 is really going to make a difference in people's lives). as far as I'm concerned they can take their rebate checks and file them in a location that's physically challenging (same place they have their heads)....
The amount is $300 per
The amount is $300 per person. I saw my son's IRS letter today.
I got my letter yesterday
it said $600 per adult if filing jointly & $300 per child. It also stated it drops drastically for individuals over $75K per year $150 if filing joint returns.
Mathew 5:9 Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
If it were only $1Billion to buy controlling shares in the FED
would you buy them? I don't really know if it would be $1Billion but that's $100 from 10million people. $1000 from 10million 401k funds is $10Billion. How many $1000s have you lost this year? How many do you expect to lose over the next two years? How many have you contributed to RP's campaign this year without regard to tax deductability? How much have you paid in taxes over the years that aren't supposed to be constitutional? How many more to you intend to pay the rest of your life? Does anyone know if there is a stock or ETF symbol that has control of shares in the FED? To fend off a hostile takeover, what would the foreign bankers do to their own stock?
No tax on "rebate"
http://usgovinfo.about.com/b/2008/02/27/will-i-have-to-pay-t...
I've checked a few sites and there will be no tax on the "rebate" checks and it doesn't go against next years tax refunds.
Wrong, it does go against next years rebate:
US Government Targets Its Own Citizens In Massive Tax Rebate Fraud
No. And here's why.
Your rebate is a one-time tax cut - an advance on a credit you'll receive on your 2008 return.
It's based on your 2007 income initially. If it turns out that your 2008 income and number of children would have qualified you for a larger rebate than the one you received, you'll be sent the difference. If it turns out your 2008 income was lower than in 2007 and you should have gotten a lower rebate, you get to keep the difference.
"If you were supposed to receive a larger payment than you did, you will get the extra money," said Treasury spokesman Andrew DeSouza. "If you received more than what you should have gotten, you will not be penalized."

The "Revolution" Meme? Angry Tax Payers
And so it begins. The predictive linguistics which have been going to the idea of "revolution" and the "calls for early elections" later on (by late summer) are not just looking for how 'government blows response to natural disaster' (weeks off yet), but we are now finding out that the much touted 'tax rebate" (which implies an unencumbered return of some portion of tax paid) is nothing more than a bait and switch - an advance 'credit' on your 2008 taxes.
So, to put it more simply: If you were going to get a refund a year from now when you do this year's taxes you'll instead be acknowledging that you already got part of it.
The idea that this didn't cost corpgov anything - nor did it impose additional restraints on spending - verges on fraud, as I see it.
Not like I'm the only one who sees it, either.
You could have read it here: http://www.godlikeproductions.com/forum1/message502081/pg1
Or here: http://money.cnn.com/2008/02/08/pf/taxes/rebates_what_you_ne...
Or here: http://newsbusters.org/blogs/noel-sheppard/2008/02/08/cnn-de...
But honestly, what amazed me was the arrogance of the politicos in the District of Corruption who think they can use a term like "rebate" (*which might mean they would rein in some of their pork projects to make ends meet) versus a "cash advance" on 2008 taxes paid.
The hell of it is, that their arrogance is likely well-placed. Besides calling my CONgressperson Monday and Texas' two sinators to express my disapproval of such hi-jinx, there's not much I can do except maybe point out that all the front-running presidential wannabes had a hand in this (or a vote) and I don't hear any of them 'telling it like it is'.
When we finally do get around to selecting which of the corpgov put-ups will start (or continue) their own corptocracy, it's clear enough to me that scamming rich folks are not what we need more of. Especially lawyers. Especially if they say one thing and vote another. Especially if they use qualifiers (*depends what you mean by and such weasel-words).
More of the same. Guess we deserve it for being stupid, huh? As the year goes on, the sleaziness comes more into the open as "secrets revealed" meme opens up more to daylight/inspection/review. But for now, like the old Beatles song comes, "You say you want a revolution?" Remember what started with an unjust tea tax....
At some point (*maybe around a protest of a veterans group in a few months) the meme will coalesce and become widely visible in the MSM....
Mathew 5:9 Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
Not true
I checked the cnn site you referenced and it says the same as all the others I checked including the irs site. It will not go against your 2008 return. If you are owed more then you will receive the differance. If you recieved "to much" you do not have to pay it back.
This same subject came up on the last so called "rebate" a few years back and the same held true then. It didn't effect my next years return.
They are just messing with
They are just messing with your head!!
Congress passed newer retroactive lower tax brackets (retroactive for 2007). They couldn't get the brackets into the computers for 2007 so they are giving you an ADVANCE on a deduction you would have been able to take next year!
It's all the SAME shell game they played with us last time. Instead, next year you won't be able to get the deduction for the lowered 2007 tax brackets. Think about it carefully. Squint your brow. This is the same as giving you a "rebate" and taking it off the next year's refund like they did last time!
It's still the SAME shell game! They are giving you nothing and next year you will have to pay more. It's an advance loan on what is already yours!
