Do you have a credit card ?

Personally I have never had a credit card!
I never could see a reason to have one, given to use it, I would buy things I can´t afford, to a higher price, than to which I could not afford!
I did buy a computer when I was young based on payments (credit), I ended up paying much more then of course. So no more crappy deals like that for me.
If one absolutely would like to buy something one could not afford, it would seem much better to take out a loan on your real estate, given that the interest would be much lower than on a credit card.
So I have 2 questions for you.
1. Do you have a credit card ?
2. What interest rate and fees, do you pay on it ?

I got none...
no matter how the CC companies tried, the applications goes straight to the shredder. I'm done with them. I just used them to establish my credit just like the way they used my money. I had 4 CC's before and cancelled all of them once I got my home. The long-term obligation I have is my home and nothing else. My car is 4 years old and is fully paid. My account is direct deposit with overdraft protection up to $4,000. Less monthly expenses, everything goes to money market and CD equally every 6 months. I have a joint mutual fund portfolio for me and my fiancee which is about roughly $79,000. My 401k is about the same. I am a regular working Joe and I don't make a lot of money. I think it is sensible for me to do this rather than store a lot of credit cards. It prevents me from spending compulsively.

I have 1 credit card
It is a Upromise Citi card.
I dont have a clue what the interest rate is, as I pay it in full in time every month.
I get 1% (or more) put into a savings account for my children's college fund.
Weird ....
I was just going to ask you guys your opinions: I've had it with Citibank Visa. Talk about trying to scam their customers.
I want to find another credit card. My credit is excellent. Is American Express the best?
They pay me to use it
I have only one credit card. I have no idea what the interest rate is because I have always paid the full balance for 6 years so far.
It's a dividend card, so I get cash credit for every purchase. The maximum is $300 a year, so around December every year I hit the maximum and they send me a check for $300 just for using their stupid card!
If it wasn't for that, I would never use a credit card.
my dog has 4 in his name
with a credit line of over $40K - He also get numerous junk mail & credit offers - etc. Even though credit is suppose to be tightening he still gets credit card offers weekly. I always wanted to take the over 1 million dollars of credit card offers & cash advances open up all the accounts run them up to the max & then say sorry can't pay I went to Vegas & now I am broke. - Mean while stick all the money off shore.
I understand a lot of people did that very thing - before the bankruptcy laws where changed - to those who stuck it to the man - I say Bravo!

Yes I have two
credit cards at 7.9%. I pay any balance each month so I avoid the interest. And I have zero personal debt and a credit score of 820. Everything I own is payed for and unless they change the law in my state I don't have to pay property tax either. Yea it's nice. But nothing was given to me. I have been money responsible since I was 18. Knowing when to say NO!!! is the key.
Which state?
Texas?
No Louisiana
No tax on homestead up to 75,000. I think they are trying to up it to 100,000. I just moved here from Texas.
For a long time:
I have had credit cards and have used them at times of either not having any other choice in an emergency, or in order to expedite a matter. But in 30 years have never used them if I couldn't pay them off before within the next few days or weeks so I didn't have to pay interest. You just have to exercise some common sense about it.

I love my country
I am appalled by my government
Of Course I Have a Credit Card!
You can live without a credit card, but frankly, it'd be a pain in the ass.
Of course I have a credit card. Its a heck of a lot more convenient than carrying around wads of cash and a pocketful of coins. Not to mention that you can't even buy some goods and services without a credit card (or, if you can, its a royal pain in the butt).
Its no big deal. A credit card is a tool and not dangerous if you use it correctly. Use a hammer wrong, and you smash your thumb. Use it right, and its a useful tool. Use a credit card wrong, you end up in financial trouble. Use it right, and its just a useful tool
In 23 years of credit card use, I have paid a grand total of $0.00 in interest and fees? Its been years since I've even paid the cost of a stamp to pay my bill. With "cash back", they actually pay me to use the card. Whats not to like?
What is my interest rate? I don't know and I don't care- its only relevant for people who pay interest.
If I have $50 cash in my pocket, it takes me MONTHS to spend it. I really don't use cash except for the smallest of purchases-if it's less than $2, maybe, I won't use the card.

Yes I do
I do own a credit card. But I have not used it since 2002 so I am not sure what the interest rate is. I had got it so that I could build credit when I was 23. Since then I have taken a vow to not owe anyone any money. My family and friends think that I am crazy. That shows me how jacked this nation has become.
I
I have 8...top interest rate is 8% also have $100,000 line of credit, great for investing
As usual, you can count
on onevoice for un-sound advice. He always sets a trap for people who have their brains turned off.
Use for investing? That's a joke! Gambling is not sound financial advice, and if you are not lieing abut using it that way, you are a fool!
Either way - is spells "looser".
People with money pay people to monitor their credit and credit scores. None of them would ever recommend anything over 3 major credit cards - and not for gambling purposes. Now. that info is for people with money and only for convenience.
There is no rule book on obtaining good credit scores. I personally have one credit card for convenience, and pay it off every month. Those who monitor credit and credit scores, learn by trial and error to come up with what appears to be their method of madness.
Paying your bills on time is the biggest portion of the score. Get behind three months in a row will have a huge impact.
I
I didn't give anyone any advice.....if you don't know how to use credit wisely and work on someone else's dollar you shouldn't have a credit card.or a loan....people make their own problems and then blame the system
I have to agree
with you on that. If you are in finacial crisis because you didn't use your credit properly then you only have yourself to blame. People need to learn to live within their means.
"Thou shall not covet" is not just a good idea, it's the law.
8 credit cards?
You are the biggest braggard I have ever had to listen to their trash.
I suppose you must have 8 just so you can view your "name" in print as many times as possible or you have uncontrollabe urges to respond to all you trash mail just because it has your name on it. Seesh...what vanity. No other "reason" to have 8 credit cards except to show off or brag so it's pointless to responsd with some long spill about your business ventures etc. and how 8 credit cards are necessary.
no
it simply helps my credit score...and all the places I deal with don't take all credit cards.....I have two more on the way from airlines so I can get free miles...you see free is a very good price
Bull
What a crock...you are so full of yourself...
Apparently you are as big a pain in the a** everywhere else as you are on DP.
YOU
You think free is to much to pay ?...and I can't carry $20,000 in cash on me every time I take a trip
I have one credit
card. I use it for convenience and pay it off every month. I used the 5% earned on my GM card towards my last two new vehicles.
This is the only reason I have ONE. My credit score it 795. Husband who has never had a credit card - credit score 783.
"They" say you need one - three major credit cards to establish good credit and only charge up to 30% of max on a card. I guess I just crushed that theory!
We all know who the "they" are now!
Recently I've been considering launching "Revolution Banking"
Banks, credit unions, credit cards that set a new standard of integrity and economy for and by the people.
I believe that part of restoring our republic would be to restore banking to a tool that helps people.
This would be a self-supporting educational and economic development center for future generations to take back ownership.
In my years of financing I saw where many immigrant groups here in America set up funds. For example Korean American business owners would all chip in $10,000 into an account. When a new immigrant from Korea arrived here in the states, they could borrow from the fund and start or buy a new business. They would then become a contributor to this fund.
"PunJab! Bring me my checkbook!"
"GINO" = Government In Name Only
Did you know,
that many forms of VISA (the immigration stamp) like H1-B, etc, will allow for one to apply for a social security number, even though they are not technically US citizens. Why?
So the can get credit. Until then, they are "unbanked"
No,
I do have a PayPal card, because I sell on eBay.
But, I don't have a bank account, or a credit card.
Being self employed, this can be challenging this day and
age, but I get around it. Paid cash for my vehicles.
Rent. Have a VA loan, but never used it. Figure land will
be cheap, if not free soon.
