It has now been 12 months since gun owners in Australia were forced by new law to surrender 640,381 personal firearms to be destroyed by their own government, a program costing  Australia taxpayers more than $500 million dollars. The first year results are now in:

Australia-wide, homicides are up 3.2 percent

Australia-wide, assaults are up 8.6 percent

Australia-wide, armed robberies are up 44 percent (yes, 44 percent)!

In the state of Victoria alone, homicides with firearms are now up 300 percent. Note that while  the law-abiding citizens turned them in, the criminals did not, and criminals still possess their guns!

It will never happen here? I bet the Aussies said that, too!

While figures over the previous 25 years showed a steady decrease in armed robbery with firearms, this has changed drastically upward in the past 12 months, since criminals now are guaranteed that their prey is unarmed.
There has also been a dramatic increase in break-ins and assaults of the ELDERLY. Australian politicians are at a loss to explain how public safety has decreased, after such monumental effort and expense was expended in successfully ridding Australian society of guns. The Australian experience and the other historical facts above prove it.

You won't see this data on the US evening news, or hear politicians disseminating this information.

Guns in the hands of honest citizens save lives and property and, yes, gun-control laws adversely affect only the law-abiding citizens.

Take note my fellow Americans, before it's too late!

The next time someone talks in favor of gun control, please remind him of this history lesson.
With Guns........ ...We Are "Citizens".
Without Them........ We Are "Subjects".

During W.W.II the Japanese decided not to invade America because they knew most Americans were ARMED!

Note: Admiral Yamamoto who crafted the attack on Peal Harbor had attended Harvard U 1919-1921 & wasNaval Attach to the U. S. 1925-28.  Most of our Navy was destroyed at Pearl Harbor & our Army had been deprived of funding & was ill prepared to defend the country.

It was reported that when asked why Japan did not follow up the Pearl Harbor attack with an invasion of the U. S. Mainland, his reply was that he had lived in the U. S. & knew that almost all households had guns.
If you value your freedom, Please spread this anti-gun control message to all your friends!

...a thought-provoking email I received...even if one is not pro-gun, it is worth a read.

More info on the NRA's history please...

As an NRA member I'm becoming increasingly inquisitive about their fidelity to the second amendment and becoming more concerned about claims such as yours. I'd like to get a resource list for some of your assertions about their history and in particular their involvement in the recent DC case.

I'm moving in the direction of the GOA, but I'd like to do more homework first on the claims made by you and others.

another departed dailypauler...

unfortunately. What you read was posted late March.

She also frequented ronpaulwarroom.

I loved Bluecream's posts, but it appears she is gone. Who knows...maybe the agitating trolls and Barr supporters drove her away.

Which is why

we need to contact our Representatives about H.R. 6257 - the Public Safety and Recreational Firearms Use Protection Act (also known as ‘Assault Weapons Ban Reauthorization Act of 2008’). http://www.govtrack.us/congress/billtext.xpd?bill=h110-6257

Read the list of the firearms involved. My Mossberg 500 pump-action 20 ga. shotgun is on the list!

Although I agree with the gist of your post

the facts regarding the situation in Australia as you recounted is not quite up to date.
Even way back when that report started to appear on line the facts were disputed.

Here is a website which gives an overview of gun control in Australia

but, again, I agree,
with guns 'we are citizens'
without 'we are subjects'.

I passed this along to my pro gun-control sister. People forget that the right to own guns is not for hunting or even protecting against thieves. It's to protect against tyranny.

It boggles my mind when liberals say that tyranny can't happen in the U.S. HELLO?! HAVE YOU EVERY HEARD OF GEORGE BUSH???

The Second Amendment: To Bear Arms or Not to Bear Arms

by Joel Barnecut
San Leandro High School

In order to understand the Second Amendment, one must know the background from which the amendment was written. For example, Right to Keep and Bear Arms.com notes that "The principle that armed free men could and should legally rise against a government that violated the social contract was at least 561 years old when Jefferson penned the Constitution." In addition, it must not be forgotten that the United States was formed from 13 colonies -- British colonies -- and that many laws and rights pertaining to the United States and its citizens were, and to a certain extent still are, based on British law and tradition. As stated in the book, The Constitution of the United States, "The model for defining liberty as written law was the Magna Carta. Although the barons who were responsible for the signing of the Magna Carta acted only for themselves, the nobility, the document became a part of English law, and over time its freedoms were given to all English citizens."

Historically. the right to bear arms stems from the fact that British residents had to be ready and able to defend themselves from both foreign and domestic threats. In fact, the book, History of the Second Amendment, indicates that "The right to bear arms was recognized by English courts before the invasion of William the Conqueror in 1066." It should be remembered that English citizens had as much reason to fear the British Army, as France did. Tyranny was a constant problem in England, and it is probably safe to say that the English Civil War, which finally dissolved the supreme authority of the King, would not would not have been possible had the revolutionaries not owned and known how to use, weapons.....

Washington DC is trying to get a jump on

the supreme court ruling by searching homes for guns..

NEVER EVER give up your

NEVER EVER give up your firearms for any reason! NEVER EVER!

as for me and my home, we shall worship the LORD

And never register

And never register them.

Talk to people that have moved here from other countries. They'll tell you that first their government made people register their guns.....Then they knew exactly where to look when they decide to confiscate them.

Not sure if you read the Supreme Court decision

that came out today, but the darkest part is that it reaffirms government authority to license, register and regulate all types of firearms. One more step toward disarmament.

And never SELL them. It's

And never SELL them. It's like selling your gold coin collection.

The first gun control laws

The first gun control laws in this country were designed to keep the black populace unarmed. He who will not fight for liberty has nothing.

Right on!!!

The famous Michigan black doctor's case come to mind. Yup, the true origins of gun control, dates back to post Civil War era, where the Southerners feared a slave revolt. Absolutely correct TodaysTomSawyer.

Look for an awesome documentary called "In Search of Second Amendment." Very informative. Tracks back gun rights back to merry old England to English Bill of Rights and BlackStone's Law. TO think that back in the Founders' days, the most widely read book, second only to the Bible was BlackStone's law. Now we have self-proclaimed experts who are nothing more than the State indoctrinated double-speak professionals who take advantage of AmericanIdol watching sheeple and milk them out of their hard earned FedResNotes for their services. That is the very cost of our ignorance: liberty, rights, freedoms, and our money.

And as many of you know by now, the NRA was actually created by the Feds as an organ of the State to push for gun control. Just look act recent DC vs. Heller. The Simian's Admin actually sided with the District of Columbia's tyrannical ban. Not to be outdone, the NRA pulled their own shenanigans to have their lawyer added to the defense team, while delaying the hearing for months.

I've listened to the oral arguments LIVE on C-Span radio that day. And at every turn, Heller's own lawyer called for "reasonable regulation." And called polymer guns like Glocks, as "plastic guns" that don't show up on X-ray machines. This is the oldest lie the likes of Brady Center has used time and time again. This is perhaps one of the most well known gun-control fallacies known to NRA members themselves. Yet, the NRA backed lawyer for Mr. Heller called it just that. I wonder if these people realize the barrels, the striker/hammer, springs are ALL made of METAL!!!

They'll spin it like a win. While I do feel that by June when the SCOTUS finally decide, they will determine, once and for all, that 2nd amnd is an individual right. But they'll spin it with a heavy regulatory caveat. Though, to determine the limits of what the govt can do to limit will be determined by other 2nd amnd lawsuits. Stay vigilant of traditionally hostile States to the 2nd amnd, like NY and NJ. They'll go for broke.

Now if I can only learn to CUT my verbiage to about a third of the length and still communicate pertinent points... I stick one URL, and commentary, it becomes an essay. Good thing I type relatively fast.

I realize that not everyone will read through it all, but I just hope someone, even while speed reading or skimming through comes across one info, or link that may spark a bit of curiosity enough to have a conversation. If I contributed in that way, 'tis all milk and honey to me!

It Ain't about Hunting

It is to secure a free state. And of course, in this context, a "free state" means a condition of liberty. If the 2nd Amendment were about the privilege of States to organize armed forces, then "state" would have been capitalized, and the passage would have read "the right of the States" rather than the "right of the people...shall not be infringed."

I hope this shameless bump for this supremely important post is not too transparently obvious.
