TX Conventions: Update HERE
Don't Mess With Texas!
Those involved with or closely monitoring the situation in today's Texas conventions, please post updates here, so we can be kept up-to-date on how things are going.
Here's a little something from today's edition of MarshallNewsMessenger.com (Texas-based news website):
Headline included: "support for Ron Paul may surface at Travis GOP meeting"
But today's GOP conventions in Travis County might test support for U.S. Rep. Ron Paul, R-Lake Jackson, whose presidential candidacy ignited local excitement.
"There's some drama afoot," said Joe Pojman, temporary chairman for the state Senate District 14 Travis County convention. Paul backers "think they're the Vandals and they can storm Rome."
Austin CPA Robert McDonald, a Paul supporter headed to the county's GOP Senate District 25 convention, said "people favorable to the freedom movement" could control that meeting. If Paul-leaning delegates get chosen for the state convention, McDonald said, they could hold elected officials accountable to elements of the party platform emphasizing less intrusive government.
Texans, keep us updated here!

The most important Resolution we needed to pass was UN-BINDING the delegates. I was able to get it to the committee as a minority report, but when it came to the floor vote it was voted down. LISTEN: We have a chance to re-introduce resolutions at the state.. My Problem? I was elected as a delegate in my precinct and probably wont be able to go. I will not post the plan I have, but am willing to disclose it to you. I can be contacted either by phone 512.919.9772 or at honorgod at pacbell . net.. this is up to us to unbind the delegates if you want to get RP elected.

Honorgod, you are right on the money. Is there anything that can be done to make it so you are able to attend the state convention?
And, man, do we need a secure site for discussions of plans...

I'm in
I'll be going to state. I was agreed into submission pretty much.
It was basically just me in there as far as I knew. I submitted probably more than a quarter of the total resolutions, and I was the only delegate from my precinct. Main gripe was how long it was going to take, felt like all eyes on me.
Even the resolution expressing no confidence in McCain, they Agreeed with me! And then said he's the guy anyway.
So, I learned, I should have been talking directly with the leadership for these past few months. One of them even mentioned Alan Keyes. I learned more about the process.
It's not a takeover in any sense. It seems it's already been taken over somehow. McCain's record and Republican Principals, at least as stated in my county (they went by the 2006 Platform), are directly at odds and no manner of "read my lips" rhetoric should cover that up. This is a correction long, Long overdue.
One big consolation is there will probably be more supporters at the state convention, and there will have been more time for McCain to mess up.
It's like being in a boat full of people paniced about drowning. Or being on a plane that's on fire, headed for a mountain, and watching people hang themselves by their parachute cords before the plane hits.
Or like I said in a local paper blog, it's like saying "I hate chocolate, so give me the fudge".
NAU resolution passed. It's so odd being agreed with into the ground.

Approximately 10 RP delegates (of 80 alloted) and ? number of alternates (of 80 alloted) were selected to go to State. The RP resolutions all passed, but so did the Christian Dominion resolution to make "The Church" sovereign. This must be voted down at the State Convention as it is in direct opposition to Texas State Constitution Article I Sec. 6 http://tlo2.tlc.state.tx.us/txconst/sections/cn000100-000600...
"Article 1 - BILL OF RIGHTS
Section 6 - FREEDOM OF WORSHIP
All men have a natural and indefeasible right to worship Almighty God according to the dictates of their own consciences. No man shall be compelled to attend, erect or support any place of worship, or to maintain any ministry against his consent. No human authority ought, in any case whatever, to control or interfere with the rights of conscience in matters of religion, and no preference shall ever be given by law to any religious society or mode of worship. But it shall be the duty of the Legislature to pass such laws as may be necessary to protect equally every religious denomination in the peaceable enjoyment of its own mode of public worship."
Note that granting sovereignty to "The Church" is to give preference by law to a religious society.

Here's what Austin Radio Station KLBJ (590am) had to say re: SD 14 in their article, "GOP Delegates Have To Deal With The Surge of Ron Paul Supporters":
Another delegate, Peter Lowrie, says it seems they [RP supporters] were trying to bend the rules to favor Ron Paul supporters.
Meanwhile, the Marshall News Messenger has this in their story, entitled, "Paul Supporters Win One, Lose One in Travis County":
Rosemary Edwards, chairman-elect of the Travis County Republicans, said: “There are some new legs in the game. That’s grass-roots democracy at its best… It’s actually moving along fairly smoothly.”

GOP Chairman thwarts takeover
By Denise Malan
Sunday, March 30, 2008
CORPUS CHRISTI — Nueces County Republican Chairman Mike Bertuzzi survived a potential convention takeover.
At the group's county convention Saturday, a man began causing a scene while committees were making reports. Republican county conventions nominate delegates for the state convention based upon the ratio decided in the March 4 primaries.
"We were able to stop that and take care of business," Bertuzzi said. "I don't know what their purpose was. They claim they were Ron Paul supporters. I can't imagine Ron Paul would put people up to this."
Paul, a U.S. representative from Texas and presidential candidate, is far behind presumptive nominee Sen. John McCain. The scene at the Nueces County convention appeared to be part of a larger effort by Paul supporters to gain delegates to the Republican National Convention. The Kansas City Star reported his supporters took over a county convention there March 17 and elected 170 of 187 delegates.
Bertuzzi, who chaired the meeting, said he did not recognize the group to speak and some members were escorted out by the sergeant at arms. Then about 40 members of the faction convened in another room in what's known as a "rump convention."
Rump conventions are a separate meeting conducted by a group that feels it has been disenfranchised. Participants can form their own committees and elect their own delegates, then send a report to the state party, which then decides which convention to recognize from that county.
Bertuzzi said he knew about the potential takeover attempt and how to handle it. A successful takeover of a Nueces County convention in 1988 split the party for years, he said.
"There was no way when I'm chairman that I'm going to let that happen," he said.
About 200 people stayed in the original convention, and 184 were elected to state. Bertuzzi said he expects the other faction to challenge his delegate status at the state convention.
Drusilla Knight-Villarreal, who organized this convention, was county chairwoman during the 1988 takeover. She described the scene Saturday as chaotic.
"I've never seen anything like it," she said. "And I've been involved my entire life."

Santimonious Self Righteous Hypocrites.
I was disgusted after reading the theocratic judgemental language at the top of the 2006 platform and from what I can tell in 2008 the religious wacko's are twisting G-ds word even more to push their Nazi agenda.
If G-d called something good Gen 1:29 then how can you put someone in Jail or prosecute them for using it and be a follower of G-d?
I couln't go because I was very ill with a ear infection. Still am and am about to go to the emergency room. But, I did work on something that could make a huge difference in ending the unjust parts of the war on one of G-ds plants for those using it for spiritual healing or physical healing caused by spiritual disharmony. (cancer, glaucoma, migrains, depression, alzheimers, ect)
I have a case comming up and have retained one of the best criminal defence lawyers in Texas and am talking to one of the best constitutional lawyers in the US who has argued before the supreme court many times. Luckily they are both long time family friends. But, should this go to trial it will be costly.
I'm sick of self righteous hypocrites trying to run and ruin other peoples lives in their g-d ordained third riech. They are nothing more than modern day witch burners doing evil in G-d's name.
News Alert ~ Cannabis is LEGAL for millions of Americans now and has been since 1993 confirmed in 2006 by a unanimouse Supreme Court Ruling.
Do you believe Cannabis was created by G-d for a good purpose?
Cannabis is in the bible over 5 times and in every major religion as a sacrament. Islam, Hindu, Zorastrian, and yes Christian.
If so you are acting within your rights under the law to possess Kanesh “cannabis” under the Religious Freedom Restoration Act of 1993 and 2006 unanimous Supreme Court Ruling, GONZALES, ATTORNEY GENERAL, ET AL. v. O CENTRO ESPIRITA BENEFICENTE UNIAO DO VEGETAL ET AL.
No. 04–1084. Argued November 1, 2005—Decided February 21, 2006
The Court was presented with the question: Whether the Religious Freedom Restoration Act of 1993, 42 U.S.C. 2000bb et seq., requires the government to permit the importation, distribution, possession, and use of a Schedule I hallucinogenic controlled substance, where Congress has found that the substance has a high potential for abuse, it is unsafe for use even under medical supervision, and its importation and distribution would violate an international treaty.
In 2006 in a unanimous decision (8-0), the Supreme Court ruled that religious freedom is more important than the drug laws. Gonzales v. O Centro Espirita Beneficente Uniao do Vegetal, 546 U.S. 418 (2006), the United States Supreme Court recognized the drug laws must provide exceptions for religious use under the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA), 42 U.S.C. § 2000bb et seq.
In United States v. Bauer, 84 F.3d 1549, 1559 (9th Cir. 1996), the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit held that under the RFRA the marijuana laws must give way to religious freedom. This was confirmed again in 2002 in the case of Guam v. Guerrero, 290 F.3d 1210 (9th Cir. 2002).
A lot has happened since United States v. Bauer was decided in 1996. In 2000, Congress expanded the protection of the RFRA by enacting the Religious Land Use and Institutionalized Persons Act, 42 U.S.C. § 2000cc et seq., expanding the meaning of "religious exercise."
42 U.S.C. 2000cc-5(7)(A) states, "The term 'religious exercise' includes any exercise of religion, whether or not compelled by, or central to, a system of religious belief." The U.S. Supreme Court has interpreted this amendment to the RFRA in Cutter v. Wilkinson, 544 U.S. 709, 725 (2005), to mean the standard in United States v. Seeger, 380 U.S. 163, 185 (1965) ("courts in this sense are not free to reject beliefs because they consider them 'incomprehensible.' Their task is to decide whether the beliefs professed by a registrant are sincerely held and whether they are, in his own scheme of things, religious.")
Several United States District Court rulings have recognized a fundamental right to use marijuana under the Religious Freedom Restoration Act: United States v. Valrey, No. CR96-549Z (W.D. Wash. February 22, 2000), finding a fundamental right of a criminal defendant to use marijuana while on supervised release; United States v. Forchion, No. 04-949-ALL (E.D. Pa. July 22, 2005), finding the defendant's rights under the RFRA had been violated because the magistrate did not consider the impact of six of the conditions of release on the defendant's right to use marijuana; Multi Denominational Ministry of Cannabis and Rastafari v. Gonzales, No. C-06-4264 (N.D. Cal. February 2, 2007), recognizing the plaintiffs could make out a prima facie case under the RFRA for the religious use of marijuana.
I have been a long time activist and published several newspaper articles dating back to 1992 of cannabis revered as a sacrament in the scriptures and this has been my faith for over 14 years. Set aside for holy use for priests to concentrate on the 3rd eye and raising of consciousness or a sacrament to those suffering from spiritual affliction that may manifest in body or mental dis-ease. It is not for recreational use but something revered for holy contemplation by priests and a spiritual sacrament for the sick of body or mind.
It is “Self-Evident” that cannabis was created by G-d and called good. “Behold I give you every seed bearing plant upon the face of the earth.” I unequivocally believe that Cannabis is the “Tree of Life” referenced in the books of Genesis and Revelation and is a Holy Sacrament described in the Torah. It is a indisputable fact that Cannabis is a specifically mentioned in all scriptures of the world including the dead sea scrolls and nag hamadi library. Cannabis is “seed bearing plant” that g-d called good and gave to man for sustenance and a tool. .
According to the current law if you have such a faith based reason you have the right to posses’ cannabis for your private personal religious use in the free exercise of faith. The State does not have a “compelling interest” in the scope the UDL and cannot show actual harm for for use of cannabis per the 2006 Supreme Court Decision “Gonzales vs O Centro Espirita Beneficiente Uniao do Vegetal. If you are not distributing for recreational users and only using it for religeous purposes then it is legal for you to posses cannabis. The state is violating your rights and can be sued in court for monetary damages should they choose to ignore FEDERAL LAW. The LA police are now being sued for 30 million dollars for this now by www.temple420.org
I have a case comming up and hope to build a coalition and legal defense fund to defend this and any new cases for those who join the cause. I think this could be big. Their are so many groups that would pitch in for the fight and celebrities. This could be on the news and go on all the news shows. But more importantly could lead to a rational marijuana policy, the end of suffering for many sick who would benefit from G-ds miracle plant and use the very weapon the religious right is using to do evil to do good.
The invocation of Religion. This is the ultimate Tai Chi legal move.
I'll post a link later for my specific case in Texas and how you can help. I'll need help with lawyers, media ~ getting the word out, publication, promotion, and informing law enforcement of the LAW of the land.
Some may need to willingly get arrested with misdemeanor amounts to get court cases going to drive the point home once we get the legal team set and defence fund setup.
Here are a few links with more info.

I set up a yahoo group for those who want to be a part of this.
It is indisputable that Cannabis is a part of the early christian Church, the Essenes, Zorastrianism, Hinduism, Sifuism, Shoto, Santera, Wicca, and many others. This essentially means cannabis is legal for millions of Americans Now. We must just get an injunction and or inform the law enforecment / legal community through court action.

west fort worth...
where the west "literally" begins.
we went in with a majority, and this was guessed at from the shear numbers of delegates who could possibly attend yesterday. we didn't know. nobody did. not the party regulars, not us. last convention, 195 showed. this time up to 1120 could have. about 530 did.
we ended 16 hours of convention with about half of the state slate.
my wife and i walked in the door of our house at 11:30pm.
my wife was made a fixture on the permanent nominations committee, and this was the most crucial part of us becoming part of the process and not being left out. committee members are important as all get out.
by the end of the night we had lost the majority, then regained it at the last minute! we lost a no confidence vote on mcinsane, but kept the steam going til the end. we left the chair in place, and, like two ships passing in the night, let republican officials and party regulars that we are here and not going away any time soon. the election does not end our present task. yesterday was a great day in history. it was incredible what took place as there is hardly a serious coordination between people of similar mind, only vague notions of the consequences to come for no action taken.
i have a most difficult time in pitying no one. as don juan would endeavor to suggest, i cannot be hindered by a republican party, reluctant to fully separate from a strategy including religious props. for one to believe that morality is arrived at by traveling some holy route is to miss the point entirely.
we did good, and look forward to working with the texas GOP in the future.
if nothing else, i'd like to impart one thing to the people of the texas GOP.
to the chairs and all people of senate district 12, you should feel the most proud of the slate that has been delivered to the june state convention. it is filled with people employing craft, intelligence, patience, and, above all, a true love of life. their names are unknown to you, but they will no less fight for the principles found within your republican platform. they have read it. the difference between us will shrink as it becomes more aware to you, the problems we face as a nation of blind sheeple.
let us not forget that we indeed walk backwards through time, always able to see what lies behind us, never what lies ahead. we need cooperation between groups who understand the value of life and what is at stake.
a promise has been made, that we continue what we mean to.
as has already been said before me, (you) we already are what (you) we will become. it is an honor to be going to state. it is an honor to speak out.
Why didn;t you guys vote the
Why didn;t you guys vote the chair and all the officers out while you had the majority?

good question!
remember.....something that i didn't really think of...
it's all well and find to have the idea of TAKING OVER.
but there needs to be a TRANSITION in reality.
we are in the reddest county in the reddest state.
it would not have been wise to take them over without considering the human consequences of doing so. don't you see?
there is a history there. people remember bad things. we want to be remembered as nothing bad. it was a compromise to some extent and very political, but in all actuality it gave us great results and a future we can build upon. THAT IS MOST IMPORTANT. THIS DOES NOT END THIS NOVEMBER!
Well i undertand but if you
Well i undertand but if you would of voted everyone one out you could have controlled everything and you could of also ammended the bylaws to keep your chair until they died and then tabled any debate or resolutions indefintely to re ammend the bylaws.

I was there too and left early. I sat next to three elderly ladies all die hard establishment republicans who were well aware of ron paul supporters entering conventions and thought it as being silly and absurd. They did not see the point as McCain was the obvious candidate.
One lady( my precinct chair) was very nice and had volunteered for the party at voting booths, the Bush library, etc for decades and considered us hardheaded and that these resolutions were pointless since none of them would be passed at the state level. I could feel that a lot of ron paul supporters were there because she said the last convention there were half the amount of people. You could definitely feel an underlying tension. I kept my mouth fairly shut until I was elected as an alternate since the lady next to me seem rather influential and establised.
The convention seemed tedious to me but it was also exciting to see so many ron paul people excited about politics and our country. You were not alone that day. I think others like me wanted to just yell out Ron Paul's name but than how would we become delegates. A "committee" decided who was in or out. We definitely need a hand signal or something.
I have no idea how small or large our revolution is, but there is a revolution. Nor does anybody know how much we are able to change the direction of this country this year or ten years from now. Maybe our numbers are smaller than I imagine but look how many people one man was able to awaken. As long as the revolution continues I am optimistic for our country. Ron Paul rEVOLution 2008!!

It seems that Mass is different, that we wont be able to do anything but vote on our people to go to the state. At the state is where we introduce the changes to the republican party. I am going over the rules right now. But I am preparing my delegates just in case. Does anyone know any different for Mass? I will post again after I read the rules
Info for state convention
Is anyone compiling a list of the RP people who will be attending the State convention? This was not done for the county conventions, even though I was told it would be. We need to know who we are!! Maybe we can come up with a subtle ID system? Or should we all just wear our RP badges? Let's get organized, cause you know the neocons are! I emailed state headquarters about this, too. Does anyone know of a training video or anything about going to state? Can we get on committees at this point? Should we attend committee meetings anyway? Which ones? To what end? If anyone has info, please share.
San Antonio MeetUp
I agree, we need to be even more organized this time around. I learned some hard lessons at my convention this past weekend. We at the San Antonio MeetUp had an idea to take the S. Texas delgates under our wing and invite them to meet and greet so that we can get to know each other better and not have to wonder who's who at the convention. We are inviting anyone who's interested to come by during Fiesta week (late April) and have some fun with us while planning for state at the same time. I also thought a centralized location like Austin would be a good place to meet every weekend between now and the state convention. More training would be great! Perhaps a centralized delegate MeetUp??? I'm sure someone is running with this but we only have a few weeks and I would like to secure my seat to the National Convention! Please feel free to contact us at the San Antonio meetup group if you want to share ideas...
Pony Up With Your Reports!
Have all the senate districts reported in? I imagine there are more...let us hear from you!
And thanks for the alert that Mass. is coming up next! Mass. folks, take a look at the TX playbooks and do likewise -- and then some!
