Why do we get it.....(Us few on DP)?

Why are we the minority?
Why are we the small group that sees the truth?
Why is the entire US blind to the truth?
Why does the majority of the populus just sit back?

Am I missing something?

Is it true that the majority of AMERICA just watches American Idol and Fox News?

Does the average guy understand that he is being stripped of all of his potential wealth through inflation, and the devaluation of the dollar?

I just don't get it....it is so clear to me?

What is going on?

You would think that their would be riots in the streets under all of these circumstances that are happening right in front of us?

Where is the break point?

Is their even a break point?

Does the average American just accept what is going on?

Why is Ron Paul the only one that seems (TO ME) to speak the truth?

I would love to sit down with George Bush for 30 minutes and ask him a few questions........

I would ask some good questions....

What the hell is wrong with people today?

Is everyone just playing video games, and not understanding that we have a WAR going on for false reasons.

4000 US soldiers have died...and over 1,000,000 Iraqi people have died.

Does the American populas even get the clue?

You are 1 person...if you are killed...you are dead!

I am 1 person.....if I die...I am dead.

Well, muliply that by 1,000,000..........that is 1 million.

Put that into perspective? All of your family and friends and their family and friends and so an are now dead. Hmmmm.....

Something is seriously wrong.

I just want your thoughts... I am confused?

Why do we all put up with this?

Your answers are appreciated! I just don't get it.

Everyone Believes...

There is a great song by John Mayer called "Belief" that sums it up nicely, it's basically about how everyone believes that they are right (in whatever situation) and no one ever really changes their mind.

I find this to be utterly true when it comes to politics. I have talked to lots of people about Dr. Paul, and they fall into two distinct groups:

1. People that "believe" they know everything
2. People that "believe" they don't know enough

Group 2 are the people who are receptive to Dr. Paul and humble enough to hear/learn about his message. Group 1 are the people (seemingly the majority, sigh) who support McClintonObama and believe they know what is best, based on what they hear in the MSM, etc. These people are completely at ease with their apathy, they feel as if they know what's important because the media tells them so. These people like to think that they're smart, but they don't want to actually have to learn anything.

I have a friend I talk politics with regularly and he's definitely in group 1. I've shown him so many things and he almost always agrees with Ron Paul, but he just can't let go of the fact that he thinks he knows everything. Just when I think he's seeing the light he busts out the 'ol "Yeah, but Ron Paul will never win, he's kooky, isolationist, McCain will be tough on the terrorists, plus I think he's got a good economic plan, I heard on the news the other day..." stuff. It's exhausting really.

In the end, it's tragic, but we are the minority (Group 2) I don't think it will ever change, it's just human nature.

Most American are...

ignorant, uninformed or too self-absorbed to understand or care what's going on around them.

Unfortunately, it'll take a major crisis (e.g. depression, home foreclosure, SUV repossessed, etc) to get sheeple to wake up and understand.

It is not enough to know the country is on the wrong course...

we need to have a clearer understanding than even the Founders had. WIth all due respect to them, mankinds understanding of human nature, philosophy, ethics, economics, psychology and of nature has advanced since our country won its freedom.

But right from the start laws began to be passed which were inconsistent with a free society and the government began to grow and to assume unauthorized powers.

Ron Paul has advocated what he refers to as Austrian Economics. He means the thoughts of certain Austrian academics who lived in the last Century who sought to understand how the marketplace worked when the government was limited to making sure no one initiated force or fraud and that signers of contracts kept their side of the bargains.

The founders of Austrian Economics were Carl Menger and Eugen von Bahm-Bawerk. Their student Ludwig von Mises wrote many books and essays explaining the theory and the laws of economics.
Murray Rothbard taught Austrian Economics for many years as did Hans Sennholz. Many of their books can be found at www.lfb.org

I first encountered book reviews of the works of von Mises in The Objectivist Newsletter written by Ayn Rand and Nathaniel Branden.
Rand wrote Atlas Shrugged which dramatizes the clash of a rational view of man and existence, with a rational code of ethics on the one hand, with the irrational view of man, reality and a moral code which is inappropriate for anyone who wants to live on earth.

Rand's essays include: The Virtue of Selfishness, Capitalism: The Unknown Ideal, The Romantic Manifesto, For the New Intellectual, for those of you who care to assume the responsibility of learning how our country has reached this point, what irrational premises are responsible for it, and the antidote.

www.mises.org is another source of info on economics
But Rand's works provide a source of emotional fuel as well as a rational perspective needed to get at the root of our difficulties as well as the ideas necessary to defeat the prevailing mistaken ideas you will encounter.

"I swear by my life and my love of it that I will never live for the sake of another man, nor ask another man to live for mine" Ayn Rand in Atlas Shrugged p731

"I swear by my life and my love of it that I will never live for the sake of another man, nor ask another man to live for mine" Ayn Rand in Atlas Shrugged p731

The why?

The reason most people don't get it is because they reflect what has been drilled into their head via school, friends, relatives, or over heard in public places, MSM, & local media.
School, home, churches usually teach you to learn what they teach.
Most of them use words like listen, ...listen to me, ...listen to this, ...pay attention, ...sit still and pay attention, ...this is for your own good, ...learn from me ...learn from him, ...learn from her, ...your young we are older and we know what is right, ...what is true, ...what is best, ...read this, ...read that, ...don't read this, ...don't read that, ...believe this ...don't believe that ...etc. etc. etc.
Advertising company's know that to sell via the media they need to put the ad in front of the people at least 9 times regardless of the type of media they are using. Any sale before 9 exposures is like a bonus. For some reason the customer that buys your product before 9 exposures was ready because of other things that have influenced before they sere exposed to your ad.
Advertisers also know that because we are bombarded with ads daily that it takes at least 3 exposures before the average mind registered that it recieved that ad.
Since it takes 9 exposures for a person to consider the product (candidate) a legitimate offer and might be worth trying and it takes 3 exposures to = 1, that means 3x9 =27times to get a person to maybe try your product.
1+1=2 2+2=4 repetition, repetition, repetition, is the key for parents, teachers, churches, advertisers, to make the sell.
The reason "we" get it is because of the other exposures what ever they were, that prepared our mind for Ron Paul's message.
We need to give repeat exposures to people of Ron Paul's message so that (as they say) can have it sink in. Once they get it they will join us in this campaign. This campaign is not over!! Listen to this and share the message. ........................ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SBCKMTo210k

It's a number of things...

Drugs in the water, drugs in our people through Big Pharma.

Complacency and apathy because it's been so good for so long.

Main stream media tells them everything is ok when it's not.

They are too busy trying to keep up with the Joneses and survive that they don't realize they are having to work harder to maintain their lifestyle, when everything should be getting easier because of technology.

And some of it has to do with the fact that we are mainly conservative in America. That means way too many of us watch Fox News which is just a neo-con brain-washing device.

Takeaction--Please Note:

I took the opportunity to CORRECT Meistersinger's SPELLING!! Go down and take a look! You'd a thunk he would have checked his spelling before correcting you!

Where are you in the cycle of your life?

The "tween" generation is taking care of critically ill parents that even with insured medical costs are wiping out their finances, in addition to the severe emotional strains on the entire family.

The "tween" generation is simultaneously trying to get their kids through college.

How many of you in college do not know to what extent your tuition and room/board are rapidly using up your parents' "retirement" savings? I've seen one post where a person is paying $500/month for ***30 years*** to repay student loans! And they're supposed to pay rent and buy a car (with expensive gas), as well?

How many of the "tween" generation are having critical illness issues of their own?

How many people are raising children as single parents? My child was a competitive swimmer for *ten full years*. I picked her up straight from work and we got home at 9:30 every night, with meets on Friday nights and about 6 hours each on Sat/Sun.

Married couples with 2 or more children are spending that kind of time and effort with 2 or more sports/music/whatever activities.

And that was when everyone had "plenty of money".

Now, when people have $10/hour jobs (many without medical insurance coverage included) and it takes 2 gallons of gas each way for their commute, how much of a "net" income decrease has there been?

If both parents are having to work *two* jobs each, who is watching their children, if at all (and for how much)? Do they even see their children by bedtime?

One older commuter I knew worked an office job in the Loop and had a second job as a hairdresser on the weekends!

And these are the people you expect to have time to do research into politics vs. whatever they get on their car *radio* news blurbs while they're driving all over the place?

Even with time to watch, the debates for both parties were an absolute *joke*, so exactly where are people supposed to get "reliable" information at all?

More importantly, even if they get information that was "reliable" at the time, what if the GOP national convention changes everything?

Ironically, who is less stressed out? The "sheeple" or the DP people who *see* all the catastrophes that are developing?

For example, I'm waiting for my Sunday night world financial market updates on DP, just before I go to sleep:(

Did you know most Americans

Did you know most Americans actually think Iraq attacked us on 911?

I took my kids out of Government warehousing (public school). I suggest everyone else do the same. If the courts say I am breaking the law, I say come and try and get me.

Rest assured...they will.

We are fast approaching the stage of the ultimate inversion: the stage where the government is free to do anything it pleases, while the citizens may act only by permission; which is the stage of the darkest periods of human history, the stage of rule by brute force - Ayn Rand

RANT

Who is there to teach kids to value self-responsibility and liberty? We FORCE them to attend government schools for thirteen years, which should prove to any thinking human that freedom is a myth. The schools teach them that the state is the highest social value, and individuals are of value only insofar as they serve the government (Ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country.) Government schools cannot even teach children to read competently, and certainly do not teach them to love reading, let alone learning. Most willl never discover the political and economic knowledge stored in books. Politics does not interest them, except as a personality cult and sometime spectator sport -- which explains Obama's popularity.

We forbid them to work for a living until they are 18 years old (child labor is generally criminalized) and wonder why they believe that the only ways by which human beings can deal with one another are government edict, outright force, or begging. They never learn the value of the free market, BECAUSE IT IS CLOSED TO THEM, until they become "adults" -- by which time it is too late for them to adopt it as a central value in their lives.

In their free time, they watch television which turns them into passive little androids with no capacity for critical thinking. Or they become involved in "sports" which teach them to identify with some nationalistic or geographical group, instead of basing their associations on shared values like love of liberty.

We "get it" because we read, and think about what we have read. We take ideas seriously. Most people don't read, think, or much care what they might be missing.

Well said.

I would rather never send my kids to school and teach them to read, write, and solve basic math (through geometry/algebra) and encourage them to learn a trade. If further education is of interest to them, they can go to jr. college at 18 and then on to the university of their choice. Keeping them out of K-12 is what we need to be doing.

I would be willing to bet big bucks that a kid raised this way will be "brighter" and have a love of learning that a public school kid will never have. I went to public school and I felt like a caged animal. Skipping school and the punishment that followed was worth a few hours of freedom every so often.

Ron Paul "Sign Wave Across the USA" -- November 5th!

Truth in America

The difference between Ron Paul supporters and the average voter is that when we heard Ron Paul for the time, we felt as if we had been hit with a ton of bricks. We recognized that we were hearing the truth. It must be a rare thing in this country that the simple truth - no spin, no voter pandering, no doublespeak- would come as such a shock to us.

But the average voter in America seems to have to wait to hear what the party leaders or the evening news has to say before they make their own decisions.

Yeh, When I heard Dr. P talk...

I felt like I had been hit by a truck. On the other hand, David Walker, ex-Comptroller of the GAO really makes me hot. A high-level government official making really good sense. Yeh, baby!! LOL!!

Proud member of Ron Paul's Revolution

Most People Are Not in Enough Pain--It's that simple

I think it was Maslow who said, "A satisfied need does not motivate." The majority of people in our country have enough food to eat, shelter and plenty of comforts. Humans respond to PAIN. When they are in pain, they do something to get out of the pain. Those of us on DP are in pain, either we have known for a long time that things are bad or we recently became aware. Our awareness is painful and so we are MOTIVATED to do something about it.

Watch the people around you. When gas or food gets too expensive, when the jobs go away, then you will see some action out of the rest of the population.

At that point, we may have a captive audience more receptive to Dr. Paul's message.

Hang in there...And watch.

Proud member of Ron Paul's Revolution

Pain motivates, but does not enlighten

When food and gas get expensive, and when the jobs go away, people will act, all right. They will demand that politicians feed, shelter and clothe them, and give everyone a job. And the politicians will do that, until the food runs out. Then people will act again. They will riot, loot and burn,

Will they listen to anyone who explains that the cause of the economic malaise is the very government that they rely on to protect them and to be their "safety net?" If they knew enough about economics to understand the truth of this, they might listen. Which is probably why economics is not taught at all in high school, and Austrian economics is rarely taught even in college. Government does not work; freedom does. Which is a secret that government plans to keep for as long as possible, from as many people as possible.

Never thought much about it,

But I think you are right. Not a nice thought though, wishing it would get worse, so people will wake up. Kind of machiavellian. Not that it is our fault, however. The elite made the mess, and thank God that people do have an innate desire for freedom, although with all their present pleasures and distractions, they are not seeing it yet. Pain is a very good motivator, usually works well. Maybe we will see some very good things come out of this. I do believe Ron Paul's time has come.

My viewpoint...

for which I'll be flamed off the forum for, but it does deserve consideration.

As much as we like to think that we are an evolved and civilized nation, we fall prey to our R-brain. Americans are basically at the end of the day still ruled by some pretty primitive drives. A really basic one is the need for an Alpha in the pack. Ron Paul is the least Alpha-acting of the current pack.

So it is not the message we have to get past in this case, the message makes perfect sense. It is Ron's image, specifically the image that the MSM has tailored for him.

Hate to bring it up, but it really is a logical answer. Keep in mind the blind polls... everyone agrees with RP there. It is the image.

Most people will blindly follow the Alpha, reguardless of the message. It is something that makes the majority of people comfortable, reguardless of the reality. Which doesn't say a lot for the majority of Americans, but there you go.

Devon, You're Right

Basic biology says, "Go with the tall, strong-looking one. He's bigger and a better fighter..your tribe will survive to reproduce if you follow him." Most CEO's are tall men. And vote for the most confident-sounding one, not necessarily the most competent one. Bill Bonner talks about this in his book, "Mobs, Messiahs and Markets." We are mostly ruled by biological imperatives. Humans have not changed significantly in more than 10,000 years.

One Ring

"One ring to rule them all, one ring to find them. One ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them"

People can't imagine the enemy we are fighting. We know what they are capable of now. Their time is short and just about up.. They will be getting more and more careless now. More people will awaken. We are the ones we have been waiting for !!!

"Obamney care," Nuff said.

It's obvious

to me, that we are a brainwashed nation. I feel that people know that washington is filled with dishonest people as is the rest of the world , but they are unable to understand that the currency is dishonest because the media is dishonest. A dishonest currency means we are not a free people. We have been taught all our lives that we are free. The older the person, the harder it is to reverse this lie, that has been thier reality for so long. I don't know how this can be reversed with a dishonest media that is controlled by the same people, that controls dishonest currency.

Many great answers here,

Lazy = path of least resistance, They think = Beliefs, Wrong = who likes to be wrong? Personal responsibility! Human reaction.

Politics, Religion, and Money! Three strikes and your Out!
Only you yourself can say what is right and what is wrong, only I can say what is right and what is wrong. We can each do our best to sell our beliefs. Though in the end, with time, the truth will be told. Your question is heartfelt and I thank you for asking it, it is trulely understandable.
