Ron Paul delegate ***

Question To long time republicans.

What will happen if the delegates get to the September national convention ....and ...... instead of voting for John McCain they vote for Ron Paul??

Would they be punished? How?
Stripped of their title delegate?

There is not a law that they cannot vote for Ron Paul right??
Only a party rule right?

If they break the rule would they be kicked out of the party?
Who would be afraid of that?? WHO?

They cannot be jailed or tortured can they?
Would they be sent to Iraq?

Tell me what is the worst thing that would happen??

If a thousand delegates that are pledged to McCain didn't vote for McCain what would happen to them??

Really!!!! What is the worst thing that can happen??
Would their vote be disqualified??

With a thousand disqualified votes could McCain still win??

Really Republican veterans tell me what would happen??? I am dead serious. I Have never been active in the republican party or the democrat party's so I am serious what is the answer to my questions??
There are some Republicans here that have been in the party a few years and not just now because of Ron Paul isn't there??
Admit it.
I only came aboard because I believe in and trust Ron Paul and he has a voting record that proved he deserves to be trusted.

answer: nothing

you get a censure from your state party. They can't replace you once you're at the convention. If you are in this position, don't tell anyone beforehand.

sorry

no idea why that was posted three times...

I've also heard another alternative....

Abstaining from voting in the first round. This won't disqualify you, and won't give McAnus the generally needed majority in the first round. Then the delegates can vote for the good Dr, in the second round to get him the nomination. I love this idea. As a life long Republican for the last 23 years, and hopefully a delegate for Oregon-May 20th primary, I can say with every fiber of my being that I WANT MY PARTY AND MY COUNTRY BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Are you

Are you going to the convention?

I don't think they can do

much about it except try to make you feel like a traitor to
the Republican party.

The way I understand it

No, their votes are not disqualified, but worst that can happen is they can never be allowed to be delegates again. Some punishment.

In many states

you will be replaced by an alternate delegate.

RP2012!

well, they basically just

well, they basically just strip you of your delegate/voting privileges and give your vote to someone else and kick you out.... so basically they replace you with someone who'll be loyal and do what they tell them to vs. what's right.

the parties are basically mobs... they resort to a mob like rule based completely on manipulation and threats. They're corrupt and power-hungry and do not represent what's in the best interest of the people.

I hope they do revolt against them. It's time people take their country back... I'm so sick of a handful of morons deciding something important for me where it only benefits them. I don't give a damn who they are or how much power they have. If you challenge them and defy them they lose that power. It's time to set them in their place, as people equal to us and no better. We should force them to honor the principles and philosophy or else kick them the hell out.

First I will try and be respectful and work within their rules and systems, but don't expect me to follow them when they persecute and play unfairly. When they do that, they're going to hear about it. And if they throw me out, well, then they're only hurting themselves and are effectively nailing their own coffins shut. A party can't exist if nobody supports it or volunteers for it, and no one will if it's corrupt, unfair, uninviting, and unprincipled.

F--K the wording the title in this thread!

Negative - bullshit!

Add a question mark at least, because you don't know wtf you are talking about.

There is not ONE FACT in your WHOLE POST.

You ask 19 CONSECUTIVE QUESTIONS.

Change the title too: "I am clueless"

because that is a far better description of this thread, than anything else.

Hey Conza.

Good of you to show up.

Sorry I canceled the Meetup. We can have more fun here.

What about the wording in your reply?

Remember the past as you look forward to today...

What you believe to be true, is true to you... "until you change your mind"

“To conjure up such

“To conjure up such ridiculous questions, the answers to which we all know or should know are in the negative, is to build up a whimsical and farcical straw man which is not only grim but Grimm.”

Do your state research and don't broadcast

We already know that opposition GOP people are monitoring public posts based on their warnings to their state memberships before state caucuses/conventions.

As an auditor type, I can easily think of several procedures to implement protections against such changes in voting before rules allow changes.

In fact, if they're not already in place, there are even more holes in our election process.

Ron Paul good candidate

Depends on State Rules

I have asked the same question, and from what I have heard (primarily via SGP), is that it is a matter determined by the State GOP organizations. Some, like New Jersey, simply disqualify the delegate for ever being a delegate again. Other states, however, may impose fines or other penalties, which can vary. And you're correct; it's GOP rules -- not state laws that govern the party.

(Not that the GOP is beyond reproach in following their own rules...)

Best bet is to investigate the GOP rules for your state.

In our state...

Delegates must sign a "pledge" to vote for McCain on the first ballot. From what GOP party officials tell me you are not legally bound to vote as you pledge. Obviously you will be kicked out of the "Party" but who says that's a bad thing!

Will there be enough RP people in the early states that vote to give others the backbone to do it? Do they vote in alpha order? If there do I know there are a lot of RP people who will be delegates in the states near the first of the alphabet. "We'll be right back after the hard break". It may get interesting!

"What have you done for Ron Paul today"?

What

What happens if a delegate votes for someone other than the candidate that won the primary or what ever??

they could be unseated and their alternate could step in

don't forget about the alternates. I do not think there is a secret ballot, the states vote individually and then their leader calls off the vote tally. so it is known who votes for whom.

bump

thats exactly what I am thinking, see my Massachusetts laws posted to the right. There are not any penalties associated with what you are saying

I have thought that too

I would say its worth getting kicked out of the party for.
