Ron Paul still the favorite among military, vets

"Congressman Paul’s opposition to the war and championing of a balanced budget resonates strongly with current and active American military personnel. He has received more military campaign contributions than any other candidate. Regarding his military judgment, Ronald Reagan once said, “Ron Paul is one of the outstanding leaders fighting for a stronger national defense. As a former Air Force officer, he knows well the needs of our armed forces, and he always puts them first. We need to keep him fighting for our country!”

It is not the war but the social regulation that disempowers men

It is not Paul's stance on the Iraq War that has the veterans' vote. It is that veteran males can't even get through to their Congresspeople when they call. Any woman can. But not a male these days. Now, conservative feminists working for Republicans as legislative aides, have caucused with the Democrats to declare military members "sex tourists" if they want to date women in other countries, and passed a wave of unconstitutional and extrajurisdictional laws designed to control US male behavior overseas.

Don't assume that veterans haven't noticed that George Bush thinks of Evangelical women first and veterans last when it comes to the issue of social regulation laws. And that is not even touching the fact that US servicemen almost universally want to be able to look at any kind of magazine, book or movie they want to look at.

Heck, one major firefight in Baghdad had to do with US soldiers buying certain types of DVDs and Al Qaeda wanted to stop them. Of course, the soldiers knew the evangelist women working for their senators and the White House were just as busy trying to stop them on that score as well.

The fact is that most American males who voted for Bush thought he was only kidding about all that evangelical stuff...you know, trying to shore up votes from the holy rollers and then chuckling behind their backs. But we learned with horror over the past 4 years that he then hired the religious wackos (social control freaks) to not only run the Republican Party and his administration, but he put them in the CPA in Baghdad to run Iraq for a year as well.

That goes a long way to explaining why US servicemen and vets are trending libertarian.

As a veteran
