Where's the FED Bailout?

No bailout coming here ----
No bailout coming here ---- Good Dr. Ben doesn't give a damn about airlines, all he needs are a few good helicopters (and a printing press), or haven't you heard?
This sucks..They were such a
This sucks..They were such a nice airline to fly to Hawaii on. They always tried to keep prices low. And they were always really friendly! Too bad they relied on government contracts that fell through.
Notice my posts in this thread?
Notice my posts in this thread? And that I had already posted the ATA bankruptcy earlier?
yes I noticed that AFTER I
yes I noticed that AFTER I posted it..sorry to repeat.
I didn't mean the repeat
I just wanted to show that I post things of value-
Laurie I know, I believe you
Laurie I know, I believe you girl to girl..but please you sound so defensive to make a point that no one is really certain of. It comes across as just nit picking.
Please stop. We all have frustrations...and Steve Parent has a lot of work. So it may come out sometimes. I don't want to open this to discussion on the board but if you wish to vent privately..I was a psychology major..that wasn't meant to sound condescending..only a slight joke.

this means
To look at the broader picture. As inflationary costs and fuel pricing rises, the smaller and middle level companies who have smaller profit marigins, or none at all will struggle, and eventually suffer the most. Even the mainstream airlines are facing the same issues obviously and its only a matter of time before cost cutting will mean layoffs, bankrupticies and possibly mergers. At this rate anyway.
And Aloha went belly up on
And Aloha went belly up on Monday.
Job market impacts passenger numbers, as well
Although fuel pricing is a major factor, if the flights were full, it would be less of an issue.
However, since personal travel is a discretionary expense, how many people can afford to fly at all, anymore?
Even before all of these fuel/economy problems "popped up", sales people I knew had quit flying from Chicago to Minneapolis, because they could drive there in the same amount of time as flying, due to all of the waiting lines/hassles to get prescreened/x-rayed, etc.
And if so many personal items must be checked below, additional time waiting for luggage vs. onboard overnight bags (with risk of "lost baggage") adds another hour or more upon arrival.
And all of those issues don't even address additional delays due to weather conditions or delayed departures due to connecting flight problems (or airlines stopping service with no notice)!

ATA?
Never heard of them, is this a city specific airline? I thought it was a acronym or something...
I remember
flying on ATA whenever I went from LA to Honolulu...so I am supposing that they are one of Hawaii's airlines. Could be a big deal for the Hawaiians and the U.S. military stationed in the Pacific.
from what i understand, ATA
from what i understand, ATA isnt so much just its own brand of fleet vessels, so much as an entity that operated a lot of the flights that you book through branded fleets like delta, american, united, etc. So if youre thinking "who the hell flys ATA anyway, who cares", this would affect a lot more flights than you might realize.
Time to start walking
the weather is getting better anyway! 8]
The sad part of this story will be that employees will lose unpaid salary, ticket holders ill not be refunded and the white collars will get off scott free
The reason that I am pointing the finger at the execs is that they would have known of this inevitability for some time and of course continued the facade until everybody else is left hanging.
OHMYGOD
WHOCARES?
Anyone who plans on flying anwhere might care
That would suck
Truth exists, and it deserves to be cherished.
Is
Is this ATA Air Tran Airways?
yes
yes
No, ATA is (was) American
No, ATA is (was) American Trans Air, a charter company flying mainly from the eastern half of the US to Mexico, Florida and the Caribbean.
ata.com vs. airtran.com
I do not believe they are the same airlines.
If businesses continue to use fuel costs
as the lone scapegoat then I wouldn't be surprised to hear the chickenhawks use that as another reason for regime-change in Iran so they can put American hands on the spigots. The rising cost in fuel should be added to the ticket price, but since the cost of fuel is inversely related to the value of the dollar, people won't be able to handle a rise in ticket price. The problem is inflation, imo.
