When everyone is ready to focus on how Ron Paul can win the nomination let me know

0 votes

I put up 3 articles on rules of order and well as info about being a delegate and it never stays up.

1 post was about how people at a convention were deafeated when they actually should have won because they were not prepared and i explained how they lost and for everyone to not make the simple mistake they made that would have changed everything for them.

I am sorry all i am not going to police the boards any more to make sure the information we should focus on to get Ron Paul elected stays up.

Ron Paul talks about the free market decides and it seems the free market has decided that the only information here that can get him elected isn't worth buying.

So i am offering a GOING OUT OF BUSINESS SALE to see if i can stimulate business to stay open.

Your the market you decide.

Hey yall

I guess I'm what many of you may call a "lurker" - those shadowy unregistered guests that watch the revolution on DP through a window. For months I have watched and read. I guess I've been enlightened, bemused, disappointed and angered many times over as I tread around the perimeter of this board - never joining in, but feeling a part of it just the same. I guess it was like sitting on the bench during the football game as you watch your team play. In this case, though, I had benched myself.

So why did I, after months, decide to actually join your party here and toss my opinion into the mix? I guess you can say I wanted to do what I could to help the revolution. The Honorable Dr. Paul got my vote, and I want to help him and his cause for liberty and freedom.

But before I explain further, let me tell you a little bit about myself. I'm a 35-year-old father of two boys (7 and 2 - and let me tell you, they are smart, cute and funny). I'm an Army veteran, a Republican cured of apathy, and a small business owner. I am not a delegate, nor did I try to be one. I did vote for Dr. Paul in South Carolina's Primary - one of only about 5% in the state if my recollection is correct. I also donated to his campaign, put up a couple of signs, and talked to friends and family about the good doctor. Outside of that, I read the DP and a variety of other Paul-friendly sites. (Don't feel left out dailypaulers, I didn't register with any of their sites either).

Running my business, keeping up with the boys when my wife works (she's a nurse), keeping up with my oldest one's homework and school activities, going to soccer/baseball practice, and getting the family together for dinner every night pretty much fills my day. Could I have done more? Of course I could. Was I just not diehard enough to get the job done? Probably right. My point is this - I have done what I thought I could manage to do for the revolution.

At this point, the revolution has probably given me more than I have given it. Hope. Inspiration. Knowledge. Yes, Dr. Paul cured my apathy, and I thank him for it. I'm know involved in running a campaign for friend who's running for State Senate. He may not be the perfect Ron Paul Republican, but he's a free-market, fiscal conservative. Compared to the incumbent, he's waaaay more Paulitarian.

One of our campaign consultants told a story I'd like to share. He was working on another candidates run for the Statehouse and was organizing the volunteers. Many were out door knocking, others on a phone bank, some putting out signs. One little old lady in her 80s always attended the volunteer meetings, but since she was wheelchair bound, could never participate in any of the activities. But she wanted to be involved, was a big supporter of the candidate, and wanted to do what she could to help.

When election day rolled around, this little old lady signed up to be a poll watcher. All day long she sat outside the polling location in her wheelchair, greeting all the voters as they arrived, telling each one how she adored the candidate, and asking for their vote.

When the results rolled in, the campaign was victorious. Suprisingly, the precinct where that little old lady sat greeting voters carried the greatest percentage of the vote of them all. To this day, that representative gets comments like, "I voted for you after I met your grandmother at the voting booth!"

It didn't matter that the sweet old lady was not related at all. She had made an impact. Although she couldn't put up signs, couldn't door knock, couldn't become a delegate - she did what she could for the campaign, and her help paid off.

Some people may be able to donate a few dollars. Some can do their max donation and nothing else. Some can donate three hours on a Saturday to put up signs. Some can work phone banks in campaign offices as a volunteer every week. This is Ron Paul's Army. But you have to remember - it's an all volunteer Army. Most are privates - only some can be generals. Not everyone can become a delegate. But everyone can do a part.

Dr. Steve Parent, you sir, are a general in this army, and I thank you for your service. I will warn you, though, that the enlisted ranks can easily grow restless. Especially when they feel they are doing what they can, and the upper ranks are still critical.

Should an open forum be where general's orders are posted for action? As a veteran, I will tell you that generals never tell a private what to do. That's for the captains, lieutenants and sergeants. I'm afraid your plan of action - although it is great - have fallen on the ears of many who either can't or won't follow its direction. It is useless to become angered by the lack of effort for your war plan. Although everyone should be ware of the information you have, don't count on the footsoldiers to follow through on your plans.

In my opinion, it would be most beneficial to your cause to gather around your person an inner circle of like-minded officers of the revolution. Others that can and will follow your game plan. Reach out to those activits and delegates - create another board, an email list, or forum. Organize a unit of warriors for your mission, and you will see results. All the while, keep spreading the word to all in search of others to join you. But don't stand in front of the Ron Paul Army, yell out your orders, and then yell again when they are not followed.

Just like that little old lady in the wheelchair, some of us are just doing what we can to help.

Sounds Like Me

I too have been lurking, My reason for popping in is to offer a suggestion. I post on other conservative forums, and am a strong advocate of Dr. Paul. There is a lot of anomosity at these "conservative" forums for Dr. Paul mostly due to ignorance or the lemming factor. I defend, reason, and try to appeal to their conscience or patriotism on these other forums.

Which bring me to "my suggestion". You do realize you all are preaching to the choir on this forum. Why not diversify and "educate". I stress educate, because there are conservative voters out there that think that Ron Paul has dropped out of the race. I believe if some diplomatic postings were made on these forums, by some of you very well versed patriots, I know we could win some converts. Plus supporters, like myself, would certainly welcome the reinforcements.

It makes me sick to see conservatives so ignorant of the facts, yet so bewildered, with many, many threatening not to vote at all.

The only suggestion I would offer is be prepared to debate the issue of the war. Conservative Republicans have forgotten that Dr. Paul's reasoning on foreign issues is the way it always was for Republicans. They seem to think he's anti-military, which would be laughable, if they did not believe it to be true. Personally, I do not know how so many Republicans have become such war mongers.

Well said..

Ah...

.. makes sense now.

;)

Personally...

.. I grow weary of the veiled smear and logical fallacy that if you are not a delegate you are somehow an inferior Ron Paul supporter.

First of all, only a tiny tiny fraction of Ron Paul supporters can become delegates due to the simple fact that compared to the total number of Ron Paul supporters there are only a miniscule number of delegate positions.

Secondly, I personally have converted at least two dozen people to Ron Paul. My son converted two of his teachers and several students at his high school through wearing t-shirts, handing out slim-jims, buttons and dvd's. He also participated for two weeks in the Students for Ron Paul effort in Iowa trudging around in the bitter cold and snow canvassing and at night spending many hours on the phone calling voters when he could have been enjoying his christmas vacation.

I have never criticized the delegate process education efforts but you seem very comfortable diminishing the tremendous efforts and success made by those not involved as delegates by continually asking in a McCarthyite fashion, "Are you a delegate?" as a way to say "See! You are inferior to me and your efforts pale in comparison to mine. You should be ashamed and your opinions and comments are of less value because you are not a delegate."

Not everyone has the time, resources, disposition or opportunity to be a delegate but their non-delegate efforts and accomplishments have been just as important or more-so.

I believe that it is a valid

I believe that it is a valid question when people are critical of me to ask them if they are a delegate and what meetup group they are from and as you know Laurie who was a strong critic of mine said she was not a delegate nor part of a meetup group although she was defended by someone and it may have been you that she probably didn't want to tell me if she was a delegate .

These are lame excuses and if you are going to judge me be prepared for some questions to be answered for i am not afaraid to answer most questions from anyone except what is my phone number or address but any other questions i will probably answer.

You have also been critical but if you have done some good things for Ron Paul great it is appreciated. But all the slim jims in the world is not going to win the nomination.

The reason i started this posts was for 2 hours i saw things about making your on rfid chip, Obama is in the CFR, Iran is sending smoke signals and this crap is a waste of time and does not help us with anything for the task at hand should be to get people prepared for their conventions and understanding rules of order and the delegate process.

Most everything everyone is talking about here can be fixed if they get involved in local politics and i have spelled that out time and time again.

You can complain about it all you want but if you don't get involved NOTHING WILL CHANGE.

Dr. Steve Parent

damn you totally hit the nail on the head!!!

I was thinking the same thing!!! PEOPLE NEED TO GO FIND A DICTIONARY AND LOOK UP THE WORD ......

FOCUS!!!!!!!

If you want to have a PRESIDENT PAUL then you must ask yourself how....how is that to happen?? And if any of the answers that come to your mind (or to others mind) isn't on this forum , add them . BUT---if you see any information about anything else that is not pertaining to getting him elected, or supporting those who are getting him elected....what the hell is it doing on this forum?? GO SOME WHERE ELSE AND talk or post about abomination(ie. obama), aliens, the 911 tragedy, etc........

THIS IS THE DAILY PAUL!!!! IT IS HERE TO ELECT A MAN WHO CAN AND WILL SAVE THIS REPUBLIC FROM EXTINCTION!!!! Put on you focus cap people go through all the posts if you see one that can help elect this great man to office.... comment on it (or bump at least)

The only 2 ways left to get him elected ARE winning the last 13 states in the primary.... and winning all remaining state republican conventions.....which then becomes training time for the national convention.....

THATS IT .....nothing else....... (unless of course you have militarily option to retake this country by the force of a gun....not my particular favorite option...I prefer to win with out having to pick up a gun--how about you?)

Wow...

.. you think it is valid to first attack the character of a person when countering a point of debate?

If you are arguing against the War on Terror, is it a valid argument if the other person claims that your comments aren't valid or worthy because you bite your fingernails and don't brush your teeth often enough?

First of all, I know many many many people who aren't involved in the delegate process and that aren't members of any meetup group who have and continue to make powerful and effective contributions to the Ron Paul movement.

Secondly, attacking the character of a person instead of addressing the point of debate is known as the logical fallacy called AD HOMINEM and will get you bad grades in any Logic 101 or Debate 101 class. I've known professors who will give you an "F" for a SINGLE ad hominem...

-------------------------------------------------------
An ad hominem argument, also known as argumentum ad hominem (Latin: "argument to the man", "argument against the man") consists of replying to an argument or factual claim by attacking or appealing to a characteristic or belief of the person making the argument or claim, rather than by addressing the substance of the argument or producing evidence against the claim. The process of proving or disproving the claim is thereby subverted, and the argumentum ad hominem works to change the subject.
-------------------------------------------------------

Random Person: Perhaps you should refrain from attacking Trevor until actual facts are made available.

Steve: You are not a delegate or a member of a meetup therefore your comments have no merit.

--------------------------------------------------------
This type of dialogue is bogus on its face and is EMBARRASSING to the Ron Paul movement...

Blame it on the foreigners.

While you are asleep in the US, we in foreign lands populate the board. Since foreigners cannot be delegates, messages such as those easily drop off.

Ron Paul "Sign Wave Across the USA" -- November 5th!

Steve, let me know what I can do to help other than.....

helping to keep your posts up. I am more than willing to do my part. I have been a fan of Dr. Paul for a very long time (at least 20 years).

Your posts stayed up

There just aren't enough people here to keep it as "up" as you would like for it to stay. I read your posts over and over and bumped them many times. Why will Manystrom not keep them posted?

I think you have worked so hard for this thing, harder than most anyone, you are tired and frustrated. Your impatience is very, very visible. It might not work, but I am not at all certain it would be much better if you run yourself into the ground and risk getting sick or depressed.

Take a few steps back and do some wonderful things just for you that have nothing to do with Ron Paul or our country. There are many people who have your passion, aren't nearly as good at executing as you are, but do what they can to maintain their sanity.

Put yourself first and give yourself some attention. Please do not answer this. I don't think you are in the mood for this or any other post.

You're Welcome

Dr Parent,

I bumped your post and helped to keep it visible (and am doing so again) and attempted to do so with a little humor and originality as well. It is possible (and not unprecedented) that I failed. It was not my intention to stick my thumb in your eye.

Steve - keep up the great work

Hi Steve - I'm always trying to stay up to date on your postings though - they don't affect our electing Pennsylvania delegates & those elected need to know what's up with RRO for the September's RN Convention & be prepared to support & work with S&N Dakota, Washington State, Missouri - hopefully Ohio - Maine, parts of Tex to sway the nations delegates that Ron Paul is the best standard bearer for the Republican Party & the Nation... Imagine the momentus upsurge in activism from our very groups when & if Dr. Paul gets the nomination. Wow - visualize it & work to make it happen -we're doing our best here in the County!.

I am not going anywhere and

I am not going anywhere and people like justjenmi and Laurie will not drive me away.

Everytime i ask both of them considering thay have been critical of me have they become delegates and what meetup are they from i find it amazing they never answer although Laurie did state 2 nights ago that she is not a delegate and the reason she gave was because of me she would not become a delegate.

Jenmi still has not answered these questions but yet they seem to be the loud voices on this forum against me.

Dr. Steve Parent

Excuse me Dr.,You have

Excuse me Dr.,

To my knowledge, you have never asked me that question until today. As you will notice, I answered it above.

Also note: Not one time have I been critical of you in regard to your delegate efforts. As a matter of fact, I would be happy to provide several posts where I have praised you for the work you've done and the time you've spent. Where I have been critical, admittedly: the Lyman topic, and the fact that sometimes I think you are a bit too off-putting at times with the way you push these posts and seem to get offended if somebody dares to question you. I have not flagged any of your posts, nor have I advised or condoned such a thing, so I don't know what makes you think I'm trying to drive you away. If that's what you think, then I'm sorry you feel that way.

Then i stand corrected and

Then i stand corrected and when i am wrong i will be the first to say i am wrong.

I did not see where you stated if you were a delegate or not thought and i would aprreciate your answer.

Thank you

Dr. Steve Parent

Certainly .. and thank you

I actually think I posted my response at the same time you posted, so that's probably why you missed it.

Thanks Steve.

You are doing your best.

Continue 2 remind us, please!

Just want to express my appreiciation for your posts, especially this one since it is important information for us. I think you have the ability to rein us in when we go astray and bring our focus back to what it should be on - we would probably be going "willy nilly" without you. So, please don't become discouraged. I'm sure I'm speaking for most participators here that you are indeed much needed & much APPREICIATED!

Peace.
