What's the Real Game Plan?

0 votes

I'm confused. And I'm more politically attentive than 99.9% of the American people.

The campaign seems to have a game plan, but I have no idea what it is; Ron Paul says, if I am reading his statements correctly, "Victory in the conventional sense does not seem to be an option. But I'm staying in the race to educate, and also so Republicans who are conservatives will at least have a candidate they can vote for."

So is he pinning his hopes on a brokered convention upset victory, or not? If he is, why doesn't he just come out and say so? The only people saying so are followers planning to go to the convention as delegates, and I do not think thet are privy to any more information than anyone else.

It would be much easier, if this IS the game plan, to keep Ron Paul followers energized by announcing it, because no one knows what's going on at this writing.

If the game plan is not to have a brokered upset victory, will he consider running Third Party in October after the convention?

If we're going for a "sucker punch" here, I think it would be better to make an open announcement of intent to win a brokered convention, and while I hear constant noise from delegates along those lines, the official campaign has said nothing definitive at all.

I think we are very much at a point now where the movement may fracture into separate "Gravel for President", "Jesse Ventura for President" type movements. If this happens because the Campaign HQ and the candidate are not telling their followers what's going on, they'll have no one to blame but themselves.

I contributed to three Money Bombs, and I will not contribute to another until someone--and by "someone" I mean an official Ron Paul campaign person, not a self-appointed leader in the delegate movement---tells me what Ron Paul's strategy is, and how he plans to win the election.

I still want to vote for Ron Paul in November, hopefully without having to resort to a write-in. No presidential candidate has ever won an election on write-in ballots, and none ever will.

Some say...

we have to be "stealth". some also say his life has been threatened? Some also say we cannot let them know we are delegates for Paul until the national and then we will win it all together. i say lets have a back up plan or more. One would be to make sure we sign the petitions against McCain and the other is to have all the ammo on Obama. They (McCain-Feingold) passed a bill stating you could not say anything negative about a candidate 60 days prior to any election, well is this not the time most people start looking at the candidate?? Is that not against free speech?

So, we need to be prepared to inform and have that information stick, not that we have not been doing that already. A lot can happen between now and then. Go to your county, state, and national conventions. Learn Roberts Rules of Order.

A Quickening

I have been saying

all along that there is no strategy to this campaign, and that we need one desperately. What we have is an assortment of tactics, and each one is good in its own place (most notably Steve Parent's contribution), and needful, but all these together they do not constitute an authentic, workable Strategy.

Ron Paul is the visionary and spiritual leader of this Movement, and we need to respect him for having a track record of accomplishment and character we all need to try to live up to. But with all due respect, he is not a strategist.

The momentum of the RP Movement in 2007 was due to spontaneous enthusiasm, and it was a powerful, awesome thing. But the cold reality of vote tampering and the dulling effect of the media blackout in 2008 have taken their toll on the momentum of this campaign, and no amount of bravado and happy talk can make that go away.

What is needed now is a big-picture Strategy that not only incorporates all the tactics that are now at work, and that reflects the interests of all concerned, all those who have a stake in this political enteprise, but one that also deals with related issues such as: What happens if the currency crashes in the next few months? And what do we do about the inevitable vote tampering in November? Just to name a couple of the more visible threats...

Until there is a comprehensive answer to all these issues, and one that can be seen on its face to be sensible and workable, we have no Strategy worthy of the word...period. That is why the conversations on this site lately have been so fragmented and all over the map. People sense something is wrong, but have not known what it is. Now they do.

There is a need for executive leadership in this Movement.

I Am Ron Paul

Ya know...I haven't a clue what RP's game plan is. If (when!) he wins the nomination, it is entirely possible that he may be the most surprised of all, and may even enter into the final competition against the Democratic contender as a reluctant (yet highly qualified and able) candidate.

But I know my game plan. It's to keep-a-going. What other candidate is more worthy of our support, anyway?

Evidently, my game plan includes pizza.

Tonight, we had pizza delivered (mmmmm). When the (very young, under voting age) guy dropped off the pizza, he said, "Hey, isn't this the house that gave me the Ron Paul information the last time I was here?" [Correct. The last time we ordered pizza was about six weeks ago, yet he remembered.] I nodded and smiled, and he proceeded to tell how he read the literature and really liked what he saw. He liked it so much that he passed along the information to other people (of age to vote!) and asked for more lit from me to continue to pass out. I quickly broke out the Bag O' Paul and gave him a variety of slim jims and fliers, and the delivery guy said he'd go out and make even more copies of the fliers to pass out, if that was alright.

Yes, pizza delivery guy. That's alright!

So, a seed planted six weeks ago...well after our state's primary...with an underage pizza delivery guy...has resulted in RP's message being spread to several others, and is now resulting in yet even more people being reached about the revolution.

Why stop??

You have the right idea

it is a seed planted, that produces the giant oak tree. I just hope you ordered my personal favorite, pepperoni pizza, lol.

Let me explain in case ya missed this

Here is my explanation for the campaign's attitude. Ron Paul wants conservatives to be able to vote for a real conservative, so he is staying in. He also knows that with the campaign in the last few he can help educate more Americans on what is going on in this country. That much he has explained.

Now as far as the brokered convention, I am sure Dr. Paul is hoping for it, but he CANNOT SAY THAT. He cannot say he wants the delegates to do any specific thing. The reason is very simple. There are two scenarios. One, we get the brokered convention by whatever means (hopefully through a vote of no confidence in McCain) and piss off the neo-conservatives which is no big deal if we get him the nomination. Two, we try for a brokered convention and fail and wind up getting the neo-conservatives pissed off and put them on guard for the next cycle. Either way, the neo-conservatives will blame Dr. Paul directly for it if he encourages such action if he were to be endorsing such action. As it is, either way it goes, he can say "I had nothing to do with it," which will absolve him of all blame.

The third party run will not happen. Most states do not allow you to be on the general election ballot if you ran and lost during the primaries regardless of which party you ran for. Dr. Paul has already said he has closed the door to a third party run. All a third party run would do is get him blamed if the democrats win. We don't need to let the neo-cons make Dr. Paul into a scapegoat. If the republicans nominate McCain and he loses in the fall, we can point directly at the neo-conservatives and say "we told you so!" This will demonstrate to them that they truly are out of the mainstream of American's wants and needs and that only a return to a true retro-conservative movement will save them.

Correct, and here's more

A third-party run cannot happen after St. Paul because it will be far too late in the cycle for the ballot access circus and the only two third-parties worth mentioning (LP, CP) have their nominating conventions in the next two months (CP is in two weeks!, LP Memorial Day). The timing just does not work correctly for it to be a reality unless Dr. Paul does it now, and I don't see that happening.

Totally agree with you

Good job breaking the truth.

I agree

fantastic response and demonstrative of what Dr. Paul is probably really thinking. The media brainwashers would be all over the Doc if he said anything like what we are out there actually doing.

I'm telling you, this guy is smart.

'Live for yourself, there's no one else more worth living for,
Begging hands and bleeding hearts
Will only cry out for more...'

'Live for yourself, there's no one else more worth living for,
Begging hands and bleeding hearts
Will only cry out for more...'

His book comes out

April 30th. Hopefully its less cryptic. Right now the grassroots is running the ship. Also, Ron Paul has 6 million in the bank-what's he gonna do with that? I don't know and I don't suspect there will be another money bomb until we discover what that money will go towards.

Whatever jerk

You are a very suspicious person, you know that? The man who controls our 6 mil is probably the most honest and upright man in this whole damn country! Let me give you an idea, and correct me if it's just too far out for you.

TRUST HIM, HE KNOWS WHAT HE'S DOING!!

God, I get tired of hearing people bitch about that damn money

'Live for yourself, there's no one else more worth living for,
Begging hands and bleeding hearts
Will only cry out for more...'

'Live for yourself, there's no one else more worth living for,
Begging hands and bleeding hearts
Will only cry out for more...'

I didn't take it that way at all

I think his point is "why have another money bomb until there is a clear indication of what the money will be needed for?". If RP said "we are going to start a multi-million dollar educational campaign and we need your support, win or lose", I am quite certain he would see a huge influx of cash. Otherwise, spend your money however you want to promote the message. Here's an example of how I do it:

In my spare time is crank out copies of various videos on DVD and pass them out. I have an inkjet printer which prints on DVD's, and I bought a CIS (continuous ink system) for it. This places huge vats of ink on the side of the printer with hoses going into the print heads. This system cost me ~$70 and will literally print thousands of DVD's without having to ever change a cartridge! When I do need to add ink I just pour it into the vats. The blank printable DVD's cost me about $.30 each at Costco, and I figure after the ink and a paper sleeve is added in the total per DVD is something like $.35-$.40 each, and they look totally professional.

I pass them out to tellers whenever I go the bank, and I carry them with me wherever I go (always wearing my Ron Paul button). If someone asks me about him, I give them some DVD's. If I see a parked car with an Obama, Hitlery, or McLame sticker on it, I put DVD's under their windshield wipers or in their window. Or if they have other stickers on their car like "stop global warming" or whatever I hit them too. I figure the "throw a bunch of %#$@ against the wall and see what sticks" method isn't worth it, so I like to target people who already have an opinion on things.

If I see someone getting signatures for Greenpeace I engage them in a conversation about how the gold standard would be one of the best things we could do for the environment and then give them a DVD.

When I'm pumping gas, if there is someone at the next pump I will casually remark "can you believe the price of gas these days?", and when they reply I will say something like "you want to know why?" and then hand them a DVD.

OK, it is TOP SECRET, but here you go...

We are going to stay politically active and never, ever, get caught asleep at the wheel again. Diabolical, isn't it?
We will fight as hard as we can until it is won, nothing else is acceptable. You are whining about "having" to write him in, how about rejoicing in having a candidate worthy of the effort?

Truth exists, and it deserves to be cherished.

the RIGHT attitude!

I absolutely agree with you.

"Don't shoot until you see the whites of their eyes"

Steady, steady we are still to far away from Sept. to have that information.
Dr. Paul is working very hard trying to get the message out and so should we. When the economy the war and our civil liberties erode further people will be coming to us wanting to ask questions and looking for leadership let's be the ones they come to. I am voting for who Dr. Paul says too. Imagine
all of us throwing our votes to who he says it may be him it may not we don't know yet. Have faith because that is all we have left. We already know we can't trust the government and there may be a war with Iran as we speak so we must be alert, informed and prepared for anything in the coming months.

Declining?

Ron Paul supporters declining? I don't think so.

Romney, Julie Annie, Huckabee, Thompson, etc. have declining support. The reason for that is that other candidates have paper thin support (if they have any support at all). People are not passionate to support them. They are just leaning towards them.

Dr. Paul on the other hand has rock solid support. Listen to the people here, no one will even consider voting for another candidate. Once a person decides to support Ron Paul, no other candidate even comes close.

Ron Paul support is not declining. The only direction it can possibly go is up.

You watch too many movies with surprise endings

I don't think there is any game plan that will see Ron Paul as the Republican nominee.

When he agreed to campaign, he did not think it was more than an educational process and a test of the depth of belief in freedom among the population. You can't educate the indoctrinated, and apparently the genuine belief in freedom does not exist in much more than 5% or 10% of the population.

I suppose it is remotely possible that McCain will die or stumble so badly that he will be unacceptable even to those who now control the Republican Party, but even then I doubt that they would turn to Ron Paul. The would just look for another proponent of government plunder and control. If we don't have the delegate numbers, then we lose the battle on any direct confrontation.

The best thing we can do after any hope is dashed by the reality of the Convention is to vote for a third party candidate in the general election; I for one will go with the Libertarians. Of course this is just a protest vote, but the Democrats and Neocon Republicans are unacceptable to me.

In the long run, I am fairly certain that civil war is coming. The sort of economic suffering that will come from the combined collapse of the debt based money system and the end of the oil age will take down many governments around the world and certainly the US federal government is vulnerable. When your own survival is at issue you are not going to be tolerating the current system of plunder and control since the pain from civil disorder will be less than the pain from going along. My best guess is 2020 or sooner when the violence breaks out.

Read "The Fourth Turning" and learn what you can about oil depletion and the lack of suitable alternatives if you want to understand the forces that will determine your future.

Here's the Game Plan

Wake up as many people as possible and once everyone realizes what we know, we will take down the government with civil disobedience.

Education

The goal of the Paul campaign is to educate as many people as possible. Victory will not come at the ballot box in '08. It will come down the road as the people Paul has educated spread his message of peace, solid money, and small government. The honest truth is that McCain will be the Republican nominee for President and that Paul will not run a 3rd party campaign. But in 20 years people will think of Paul the same way that they thought of Goldwater after Reagan was elected, as "the father of the movement".

And if education is the real

And if education is the real goal, I'm all for it. Personally, however, I don't think this nation has another twenty years...I'm doubtful America has another four years before it is either a complete fascist state or a fallen nation with a destroyed economy.

They may be up for a steep learning curve

when it starts dramatically hitting their pocketbooks and corroding their quality of life real soon. People can wake up real fast when the alarm is at their back door. Also, it is getting increasingly difficult to believe the lies that are getting thrown out there. It may be then, what about that Ron Paul guy who was talking about the perils of economy and what he would do? Don't give up in the precise direction we are going, and in the person we are going with. I have never seen or heard any politician that comes close to being aligned with what I would support, or believe in what they say, period.

LOOK if anyone has ever studied warfare then you know what he is

doing is beyond brilliant

LET ME EXPLAIN--

If he or the campaign were to PUBLICLY announce that they want or are counting on a brokered convention, then the MSM would publicize this (at lease a bit) and the power brokers in the GOP(ie. necons) would prepare for this. (either by ensuring that it couldn't happen by changing rules, or actually intervening in some way) So, for this reason he has stayed somewhat vague. Yet if you look at his actions, you will see that he is still campaigning , and is still in the race, and is going forward towards the finish line.

He has always hinted that something might come out about Mccain that would change things....whether it is the campaign finance thing or other stuff. By the time September comes, our number of supporters will have doubled, tripled, or quadrupled. Mccain will either be out of the race. dead, sick, or just plain beat up by his own skeletons/stupidity which will make Ron Paul look better and better. Remember most of the National Delegates are watching the MSM and will be thinking "wow mccain sucks" , so they will already want an alternative. When the moment comes that Ronald Paul takes the stage there will already be a desire to vote for someone else.....

I hope by reading this you can see the writing on the wall.

Agreed

Keeping our game plan or battle plan in the stealth mode is HQ's strategic approach. Under the present circumstances, it could be no other way.

"By the time September

"By the time September comes, our number of supporters will have doubled, tripled, or quadrupled. Mccain will either be out of the race. dead, sick, or just plain beat up by his own skeletons/stupidity which will make Ron Paul look better and better."

I very much doubt what you're saying. I believe our number of supporters has peaked and is declining--at least this year.

And unless McCain has terminal cancer or something, it's very doubtful he's going anywhere, healthwise.

This is our campaign not RP's

he is not calling the shots we are. Like everything he believes in, he gives us our freedom to move the Revolution in any direction we see fit.
This is our war, and like any great leader he has inspired us to educate ourselves and fight on our passion, not his.

His goal has , is and have

His goal has , is and have always been, to Wake people up, spreading his message, gather delegates and have leverage at the convention.

As to why there is so much silence, I don´t know, but as you imply, sure there has to be a game plan. If he don´t make more statements about it, he must have a reason for it.

sure, alot of us

would feel alot more energized if we knew. but if we are going for a "sucker punch" whats the point of telling everybody? maybe we just keep energizing each other and get this snowball r3VO_ltion rolling into a full blown avalanche of information nobody can ignore. meanwhile Ron Paul keeps making appearances sending the same message at the opportune times.

In answer to your question,

In answer to your question, we actually should NOT be going for a sucker punch. The intent to overturn McCain, if that's the plan, should be stated flat-out, boldly, honestly, and openly.

If it's something sneaky enough that it needs to be cloaked, it's not a good plan. Alex Jones is correct when he criticizes that approach...the news media would tear us apart and the Republican establishment would trump-up some way to block it from happening.

my "question" was simply a rhetorical one. my point is that we all need to keep working together until we get so much exposure and information out there nobody can deny the truth about what needs to be achieved in this election year.the only "suckers" out there are the ones that lie and those that keep accepting lies while ignoring truth.

I have the same questions

and I even emailed RP headquarters to try and get a few answers about 3 weeks ago. No reply at all. I will not vote for anyone besides Ron Paul, well, maybe Alan Keyes but I don't see him getting anywhere (as usual). I really believe Paul is our last chance to elect a president with true constitutional values.
