Enumerated Powers Act
I emailed my senator asking her to support HR 1359, this is the reply.
Thank you for contacting me regarding the Enumerated Powers Act (H.R.1359). I appreciate hearing from you, and I apologize for the delay in responding.
As you may know, on March 6, 2007, Congressman John Shadegg (R-AZ) introduced the Enumerated Powers Act in the House of Representatives. This legislation would require that all bills introduced in the U.S. Congress include a statement setting forth the specific Constitutional authority under which the law is being enacted. This bill currently awaits consideration in the House Committee on the Judiciary and the House Committee on Rules, but I will be sure to keep your thoughts in mind should it reach the Senate floor.
As your United States Senator, I take my oath to “support and uphold†the Constitution very seriously, and I will remain respectful of the limited powers delegated to Congress.
Again, I appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts with me. Please do not hesitate to contact me in the future regarding other matters of interest or concern to you.
All best,
Senator Claire McCaskill (D, MO)
