Dr. Steve Parent : I need some input here from everyone please so we can continue to make progress.
I spoke with several people today from various internet radio stations.
We are going to form a new internet radio network and have only the best of the best to educate all americans on every possible topic.
We will not need 5 million dollars for start up to do this and we can be very effective and educate many people.
The network will speak about : The military which we have 2 veterans that will host that show, the MSM news but we will break it down and find the truth and give it to the people, other topics such as general health foods and survival and of course politics and how to prepare the american people to take back our country.
We even have hosts that will do mutli language shows such as , Chinese, Japanese, and Spanish already in place if we choose to do so.
This will be a Ron Paul message station BUT WILL NOT BE JUST ALL RON PAUL TALK.
The goal is to promote the ideas Dr. Paul has asked us to promote however we are going to do this exactly how the MSM has done it.
We do not want to focus on a preach to the chior program it will be a media network that attracts people from all walks of life from NEWS TO MUSIC TO ART TO HEATH TO TALK RADIO ETC....and then some.
We will work to slowly chip away at the programming that has been fed to the American people due to lies and bias news reports.
This will not be people chain smoking and drinking beer on video while trying to educate people for this will be a professional MEDIA NETWORK.
Every Radio host has said if they must they will work for FREE however i have bigger plans for them which our main goal besides educating americans is to land main stream stations such as satellite radio.
Imagine if ONE DAY we were able to have these hosts work full time and focus on nothing but the radio programs that educate america and tell the truth of what is really going on? Imagine if we could hire writers and producers to script a professional breaking news program just like the MSM does. We will host main stream guests for many of the hosts have their contact info for they have interviewed them already.
This will not take 5 million dollars in fact it won't take 1 million dollars and we have professional hosts already in place prepared to merge today if we get up and running and these people already have a listening base that will become merged to 1 large base that we can expand from.
I will co host a show 1 to 2 days a week

My question is would you people donate and support this internet radio program.
I and all the rest of us are not in this for profit and are just working to educate as many as possible every day.
There is no donation site yet for all of us involved are wanting to see if we have the support of the people before we get this started.
This is people from rpi radio - rprr radio - ron paul radio and many others that are all coming together to make this happen.
This is not a start from scratch project for we already have the people in place and a listening base already. This is a merge of established shows that are coming together as one.
If we get enough people involved we can actually micro stream in MAIN STREAM RADIO PROGRAMS.

Initially they were asking if anyone would be interested in purchasing shares that would be sold for $100 (If I recall correctly). At any rate, I guess that they found some other backing because they never did come back for the sale of those shares. Maybe you could talk to someone over there to find out how they managed to get started. Good luck.

I don't think asking for donations is the right idea. Draw up a business plan and show how the project can be profitable, and the investors will come.
Donating to politcal campaign is one thing, but donating to you so that you can start a business doesn't make sense.
If a radio network is not profitable, that's should be an indication that it's not satisfying consumers, it doesn't have a lot of listeners, and is therefore probably a waste of donations.

I donated to Paul's campaign.
He says he's "not in it for a profit." That tells me he has no plans of creating quality programming which will attract a lot of listeners. That's how you make a profit. Without the profit incentive, which he has explicitly stated he doesn't have, there will most likely be mediocrity.

What is your cut and how will you attract an audience large enough to listen to it and commercial advertisers to pay for it? Or are you thinking non profit?

What cut i am already in the hole!
For now it will be non profit because everyone is working for free including the engineers and the hosts.
Donations for now will help get us up and running not including the money myself and several hosts have already put in to this program.
Our goal is to take this to MSradio and hopefully satellite radio.
After we obtain sponsors the station can stand on it's own but for now i need all your hellp for those willing to help us.

You are going in the right direction, Steve. But it would be in your interest (and we're all about 'enlightened self-interest' here) to in fact offer a business plan to investors, and a "cut" of the company for content creators. This way, future advertising dollars can be properly distributed to content providers and investors. Making your new venture a non-profit is anathema to the spirit of free enterprise and Ron Paul Republicanism.
Turn this into a real, working business model that will enrich everyone involved!

I think your idea to launch a REAL media outlet is incredible. This country needs it. I found Air America to have some redeaming value but much of it is not applealing. And forget about stuff like Rush Limbaugh. Randy Rhodes for all of her good intentions, was similar to listening to Rush or Alex Jones. Alex and Randy have good things at heart but I just can't tolerate such negativity, and such "scream in your face - you ignorant bastards" for an attitude.
I KNOW that you will put together a good radio with good DJ's and hopefully scoop up some of the good guys from Ron Paul Revolution Radio AND Ron Paul Radio. Also not sticking ONLY to Ron Paul will give the station a life of it's own to explore areas that need exploring.
I will happily listen, and donate as soon as I can afford to do so.

Maybe time for a philosopher's take on this....
OK, my two graduate degrees in philosophy are beckoning me to chime in here and analyze the debate.
Probably the dominant theme here is the distinction between entrepreneurial, for-profit, efforts and ideologically motivated efforts powered by donations (which is not to say that elements of each basic strategy might not be incorporated by efforts truly focused on the other).
As much as I admire Trevor's ingenuity and initiative with the blimp project, and his modesty and movie-star good looks portrayed in media interviews, I have a hard time accepting an initiative like his that diverts very substantial resources to him, personally, as compared to the volunteer efforts that have propelled the Ron Paul Revolution. I thoroughly support the exercise of the market in all things, but I warn that the _financial_ market isn't the most effective approach to social and political problems. For there is also a market in ideas, and a market also in philosophical and emotional commitment.
Right now, my judgment is that the latter three markets are the ones to trust and exploit in the drive for liberty. I don't discount the contributions to be made by commercial efforts, but I must point out that those are driven by two possibly competing (and even conflicting) motivations: the goal and the money to be made in addressing it.
As a rule of thumb, I think it's more reliable to trust in a project motivated by ideological purity and funded on a shoestring than on one motivated by personal gain and funded by promises to support the ideological goal.
Dr. Steve has been spot on in his analysis of the delegate process, and we've all been saddened by his announcement that he must scale back his activity here in order to salvage his personal financial situation (vastly depleted by his efforts on all our behalves). I have seen absolutely nothing in his posts to indicate that he is looking to accomplish anything other than the Paulian goal of Constitutional government and individual liberty. That contrasts with Trevor's apparent two aims: support the Paul agenda, and make a bundle.
Nothing about this analysis proves that Trevor is more interested in his personal gain than in the libertarian goals of the Ron Paul Revolution. I actually suspect that he began as a focused activist and only later became seduced by the entrepreneurial possibilities. But, in the climate of grassroots sacrifice and fervor for the Revolution, his approach does seem a bit mercenary. There's nothing wrong with that ... but those of us focused on supporting the Revolution as best we can might stop and consider that, while freedom can be advanced by way of self-centered enterprise, a principle-centered enterprise is most likely to have the laser-like focus that will best serve us.

What is up with all the anti-capitalist here? There is nothing wrong with providing a service and making a profit. Do you people think money will just magically appear to pay for these things? Like it or not these things cost money and peoples time is worth money also.
If they are providing a service that people need and or enjoy there is nothing wrong with them getting paid for it so they can devote more time to it to make it the best they can.
SGP I applaud your willingness to sacrifice however if you want to make this the best then folks need to get paid. Those that think all these services should be supplied for free should move to a communist or socialist country. Build it and let the market decide!

I want to pay these people although all of them have made it clear they just want to help and if they need to work for free so be it.
If we obtain sponsors that will generate money and then they can be paid.
This will happen is we have the numbers of people visiting the network.
We will need engineers and producers which will probably not work 8 to 16 hour a day for free FOREVER and to have a professional network as well as the sofware upgrades and these things need to be paid for as we will need as we grow but the people involved are not in this for the money and neither am i.
Do any of think i even wanted to take on another project? Do you think i am doing this because i enjoy having a full 16 hour a day schedule?
If at some point in the furture we can show profit and can pay our hosts i am sure they would appreciate it and as i stated think of how effective we could be if our hosts made the show their full time job which allows them all day to do research and prepare for a professional broadcast.
This is also not going to take millions to get started and we already have the hosts of the shows in place so we are not starting from scratch which makes our chances of success 80% better than any new startup company.
As i stated if people do not wish to donate we have no problem and there will be no hard feelings but if you do wish to help us it would be greatly appreciated.
