Ron Paul Presents President's Forum Lecture Tonight!

Ron Paul — the Republican congressman from Texas and Libertarian-leaning presidential candidate — will discuss his hopes for America at a President’s Forum lecture on Monday, April 14, at 7:30 p.m. in Goucher College’s Kraushaar Auditorium. Following the lecture, Congressman Paul will hold a book signing.

Due to widespread interest in this event, no more tickets will be available to the greater community. Students, faculty, and staff who want to attend should contact Goucher's box office at 410-337-6333 or boxoffice@goucher.edu as soon as possible.

Although considered a long shot for the Republican nomination — registering less than 5 percent on most polls — Paul’s anti-war, pro-fiscal responsibility platform has garnered a strong support base of students, military personnel, and voters disillusioned with partisan politicians. Despite Senator John McCain having clinched the Republican nomination, Paul says he will continue his presidential bid to promote his issues.

The best thing was I got a legible autograph

The best thing was I got a legible autograph. Dr. Paul signed my Pocket Constitution at the Philadelphia rally last November, but it was just squiggly lines due to his being mobbed like a rock star.

The vibe was more low key than that Philly rally, probably due to being indoors. Philly was awesome, with 5000+ people, Gadsden and US flags flying in the wind, veterans, V costumes, and a girl dressed as the Statue of Liberty.

The speech was standard Ron Paul: bring the troops home, stop foreign spending, sound money, etc.

Afterward was a student Q & A. Honestly, some of them seemed to be typical snotty rich kids. Before the event started, I heard a girl tell her friends, as they went into a reserved (not for them) section “It’s OK, we pay $42,000 a year here”.

Several of the questioners took exception with RP’s positions on abortion and Federal involvement in education. Of course he answered them perfectly.

I left before it was over to get in line for the book signing. I had heard that he would do 450, and there were at least 700 in attendance. I was about 50th in line. There was an announcement that only 2 more questions would be taken, and at that point the lobby was overwhelmed. I don’t think the staff was prepared for that, as they had trouble directing people to get lined up. Yay for me for getting out early :)

I met some very nice people (Hi Anna!) and got my signed book, so it was well worth the hour drive.

...let it not be said that we did nothing.

I just got back and it was

I just got back and it was so great. His speech was vintage Dr. Paul. He is not changing his message everyday like other people. I got the book signed by Dr. Paul and Mrs. Paul. One of the highlights for me was when I heard one of the older gentlemen who attends the Goucher lecture series say that he had never seen so many young people out for a speech before. That's very encouraging. Though I must admit what I thought was the most amusing was one one young woman kept asking Dr. Paul if he got rid of No Child Left Behind then what would the national standard be? Too funny.

Good Work!

So tell us about it! The crowd was pumped? What was the book signing like? Lots of people there, too?

I just got back from this....

...and it was awesome. Not only did I get a copy of The Revolution A Manifesto, Dr. Paul kindly signed my pocket Declaration of Independence / Constitution. What a legible signature as well. So stoked and energized after spending a few hours in an auditorium with like minded lovers of liberty. Wow.

Sweet.

Well... we hear another ill

Well... we hear another ill thought out news article, referring to Dr. Paul as the Libertarian he is not! This is detrimental to his campaign which is about true Republican Taft wing principles, about truth, about sound Constitutional Republics and the limited but duty bound elected servants, in other words, about all that is sound foundational thinking. This is unlike much that libertarians espouse, and he is very unlike the virtual government-free society based upon amoral principles.
Dr. Paul has soundly spoken and acted in a manner which some libertarians eschew, preferring an existential form of chaos, rather than a Biblical common law, or representative constitutional form of government. As such, all should be forewarned that the so called Libertarian magazine now boasts some of the neocon's finest minds, finding in their organ a useful tool to help demean Dr. Paul in the eyes of the general electorate, who are ill prepared for differentiating. They are easily swayed into animosity towards those espousing 'less' or 'no' government under the guise of liberty and freedom, and therefore find fault with Dr. Paul.
Further, reference to polls of 5%, which have been notoriously falsified, or inaccurate, or biased, while being all over the map on numbers, controlled by the pollsters; then giving one number of 5% when the numbers have been much higher, unless one wishes to be aligned to only one of the deceiver pollsters, is as misleading as the original pollsters themselves, and discourages the electorate.
Further, references to McCain having "clinched" the presidential bid, reveals either an appalling ignorance of current events and delegate process in the nomination, or another disingenuous deception to discourage the electorate from this process. In either case it appears we have heard this propaganda enough in this forum for one election cycle, and would encourage the writer to learn the process, or desist from attempts to knock the foundations from under progress towards truth and freedom.

Bummer. I just called and

Bummer. I just called and thet said that this event has been sold out for two weeks! Guess I should just consider myself lucky that I've met the Good Doctor before...

Tickets?

I had planned on getting out of work early so I could make sure I made it but now I see "no more tickets will be available to the greater community." This was not ever mentioned on RP's website. Did we really have to get tickets for this event??

I will be there tonight.

Hopefully I will get a copy of his book, and get to meet the good doctor for his signature on it. I also want him to sign my pocket Declaration of Independence and Constitution!!!

Letter I sent to Kristen Keener after reading this article.

Kristen Keener, it continually astounds me to the lack of knowledge considering our political process. I will quote you on the article concerning todays event.
Do not take this as a personal attack,it is not . The true delegate count is being somewhat hidden from the American people.
Quote:
"Despite Senator John McCain having clinched the Republican nomination, Paul says he will continue his presidential bid to promote his issues."

Well until the National GOP Convention in September John McCain hasn't "clinched" anything. Delegates still have to cast their votes and until that happens nothing is cast in stone. For a clearer delegate count see: http://www.thegreenpapers.com/P08/R.phtml Look at the last column to the right for McCains's total. The "hard delegates are the one's McCain thinks he has but in actuality most are probably "stealth Ron Paul supporters".He does no have the 1191 needed at this point to secure the nomination and thats why they vote at the convention.

I will make a prediction at this point. On the third day of the convention there will be a call for a "vote of no confidence in John McCain" according to Robert's rules of order and if that passes there will be a motion to unbind the delegates. If that passes a motion to nominate Ron Paul will be made. If you look back into our history Abraham Lincoln went to the convention with no delegates, secured the nomination and won the election.

The only other thing I can find questionable is your 5% polls comment. From Pauls website http://www.ronpaul2008.com/straw-poll-results/

Other than that it was basically an outstanding article considering his past treatment by the mainstream media.

Thank You

So glad you responded

Our meetup is tonight, I'm encouraging our members not to go so we can work on next weeks primary BUT I am sooooo happy someone responded to this copied release concerning Ron Pauls visit - no wonder the public has been totally brainwashed that it's all sewn up, makes me sick to my stomach & more determined to work to getting better voting totals & our RP delegates elected from Pennsylvania to join those Constitution loving - country saving patriots heading to St. Paul on September to challenge John McCain for the nominee.....Glad DP is back up!
