sending an email to you

I'll be emailing this message to some of the RP149 (Spokane!!) folks that will be delegates to the state convention, in addition to myself that is!

It was a tiring day, even more so for the good folks who volunteered. But what a great result - yay!

Sorry for the duplicate -- I hit 'post comment' and it looked like nothing was happening so I stopped and did it again after a couple seconds. Sheesh.

Pierce County 25th

We won 60% in our district. I was amazed at how apathetic the McCain supporters were. All I heard was "well I guess I'm voting for McCain since he's the nominee". Pitiful!!

I don't mean to take a thing

I don't mean to take a thing away from SGP for what he has done for others, but he was not the reason Whatcom county got 82% of the delegates. We are a group of hard core researchers and honestly no exaggeration we put in 30 + hours of meetings 2 weeks before the county caucus, not counting emails phone calls etc. We have an eclectic group of people that really utilize our time to promote RP

Ron Paul can win but we need to challenge the results of the primary's held with voting machines. Here is what we are up against. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ecdkCVD7mM&feature=related

TO ALL WASHINGTON

TO ALL WASHINGTON COUNTIES:
I am thinking of starting this in its own thread, I am an assistant organizer for Whatcom County RP meetup. (32 out of 37 delegates) We are trying to coordinate with all other counties to have a plan for our State convention. I have contacted Maureen Moore by email and phone but there has been no response. I believe Maureen got really sick and perhaps is in a state where she cannot be helpful, so I want to carry on with out her. Would any RP people who have delegate info for all Wa States 40 counties ( including contacts) please email me. I will do any leg work and correlate the info which I will be glad to share with all who contact me.

Awesome! Congratulations!

Wow! I wish we had that kind of turnout in my convention in Texas. I hope you really dominate the State convention. Congratulations, again!

an honest question here

would it have happened without Dr Steve's help? Just wondering.

Honest answer - yes

We had / have some folks who've worked tirelessly on this effort, for months.

And when things started looking discouraging we had a couple of people who didn't know the meaning of the words 'give up' and kept us motivated! Of course having Dr. Paul visit our fair burg at the end of Jan. (I think it was then?) gave us a good boost, too!

Gratuitous bump for those

King County Platform Convention

The King County convention was held on Saturday, April 12th.
The results were disappointing in that the 30 some resolutions
and 14 platform planks were not discussed due to not having
a quorum after the lunch break. The platform ended up being
adopted really without debate as a result.

General opinion from the people I talked to was that the platform
was pretty good to begin with, but the quorum tactic was an
unexpected ploy by the "old guard" and a learning experience
for the rest of us. There actually was an attempted rules change
on a rule that would have prevented the platform from being
adopted without a quorum, but it did not receive enough votes.

The especially tricky part of this quorum tactic was that it was
based on the number of people eligible to attend the county
convention and not the number who actually were in attendance
at the county convention. As I recall the numbers, there were 4280
people eligible to attend and we had about 950 in attendance at
one point after alternates were seated. With a 20% quorum we had
to have approximately 850 people to conduct business. When we
actually did a count after the lunch break we had about 750 people
in attendance. Apparently this was the first time the platform had
been adopted in this fashion. Was there stuff going on behind the
scenes to create this outcome? Sure looked like it to us.

The good news is this result does not impact who the delegates are
going to state. Those were already determined previously and from
what I've heard look pretty good, in general.

State Delegates

I'd like to know if I'm a delegate, how do I find out?

Thanks

If you're not a PCO with

If you're not a PCO with auto-delegate status you would have had to become a delegate at your precinct caucus which has come and gone. You then had to have transcended the district caucus. The county conventions are only to elect rules officials and platform officials and of course try and have a platform quorum.

Next will be the state convention. Some additional news from the King county convention is that Washington doesn't know whether it will adopt a system similar to Louisiana or Montana. The pitch was that "if we don't do something , anybody could run under the republican ticket", "David Duke could come in and run as a republican and tarnish our good name". It didn't dawn on me until afterwards but this is a ploy to snub any Ron Paul supporter that might try and run on the republican ticket and haven't been politically active in the local GOP until RP woke them up. Essentially what they wanna do is filter RP republicans out. He used David Duke as the example because it sounds like a good idea, right? We can't have any outsiders invading our domain. We'll see how this turns out but you can bet you a$$ that all the local GOP cares about is protecting the establishment. Even if that means gaffing RP candidates/supporters.

"But, indeed, no private person has a right to complain, by suit in court, on the ground of a breach of the Constitution. The Constitution it is true, is a compact, but he is not a party to it."

I was at the King county convention also.

About 150 people left at lunch
time so then we didn't have a
quorum to continue the voting.
The name tag they gave me had Ron Paul on it!So much for trying to lay low!

I'll second that. Look, if

I'll second that. Look, if they know who and how many we are. It's not that difficult to be sure to have just enough delegates to vote down any rule changes and not enough to do business in the first place. This is the biggest turnout they have had in years. Yes or no? This was my first county convention so i cannot say. But if so, then when would the required 20% ever have been available to have a quorum? Now it's true i could be way off base but it looks like a shell game to me. Only they put out 3 shells, put a marble under each one and then asked us to pick the one with nothing under it.
