Man in Evansville, IN forced to remove Ron Paul sign because it was offensive... except it wasn't and it was just a normal sign.

An Evansville man is in trouble with his apartment complex for displaying an "offensive sign" on his balcony. A Ron Paul campaign sign. Tyler Mitchell says he came home Friday and found a note on his door from the front office of Devonshire Gardens apartments where he lives. In it, the manager asked him to take his sign down because it was quote "offensive or obnoxious" to some of the residents. Mitchell says his lease does not forbid political signs, but he complied and took his sign down. The manager at Devonshire Gardens said she could not comment and referred us to the corporate office. No one returned our calls.

My question is .........
Why did the young man comply? I would have kept it there regardless. I live in an apartment complex as well and have signs in my windows. Let them try and tell me to take mine down. I WON'T !!!! This just makes me mad to hear such things.

really, I think this guy did the right thing, called the local news, got on t.v.
and now this complex will suffer thanks to the Ron Paul supporter and his sign, Martfuncher and the wrath of the Daily Paul....Hahaha

Thats crazy. My apartment complex is very strict, but they did not have any problems with me putting not just one sign but 4 signs up in my window which faces a major highway. Maybe it is because this property used to be owned by Equity Properties, LLC which is owned in large part by Lawrence Leonard the guy who bought the RP ad in the USA Today last year. Our managers also got schooled on Ron Paul by me and the girlfriend and are supporters. :)
I would consult an attorney if I was this guy and sue for 1st amendment violation before this kind of crap becomes the norm. What's next, he can't have Ron Paul bumper stickers in their parking lot?

Acually...the credintials commity did in fact ask all of us if we owned the car with the R.P. bumper stickers....fortunately , I was able to honestly answer ( no ) as currently the bank owns the car.

Before I clicked on the video I half expected to see some huge sheet draped off a guy's balcony with all sorts of expletives on it or something seeing as how it was deemed "obnoxious or offensive." My mouth hit the floor when I saw it was a small official yard sign!!!! What an absolute JOKE ... has anybody tried to contact these people? I'm about ready to myself. Absolutely outrageous!!
BTW, I would looooove to hear from the residents who claimed they had a problem with his sign. Morons.
We don't know for certain
that there were any residents who complained about the sign. The letter claimed the sign was "obnoxious and offensive," but I don't think it said there were residents who complained.
Supreme Court Supports Sign in the Window
The outside may fall under the jurisdiction of the landlord, but I believe the Supreme Court upheld the right of occupants to put signs in their windows, even in condo complexes that have rules forbidding it.
Funny how so many people find politics offensive. They must be associating it with politicians and government force.
