iS this available online??? Its the DVD THATS TO BE PLAYED AT THE 1st Congressional District of Iowa's Republican Convention

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xysXtoHjAgs

This clip is going to be played at the 1st Congressional District of Iowa's Republican Convention. The intent is to persuade the nearly 500 delegates responsible for electing the "electors" that will vote for the nomination in Minneapolis this September, to become better informed about the OTHER candidate still on the ballot, Dr. Ron Paul. Each delegate will be given a DVD with an hour+ long documentary.

LETS DO THIS FOR EVERY STATE CONVENTION THAT IS STILL TO HAPPEN!!!! or is this already being done???

Suggestions for your DVD project

Hey Jdayh, sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I actually was composing a post last night, when my internet pooped out
and I lost it. Very sorry!

I will answer your questions one by one, and if you need more clarification or are inspired to ask more questions, ask away!

Q: how much did it cost to send them all out?
A: I think the postage was about $1.50 each, and the DVDs cost about $2 each, give or take a few cents. Buy all your envelopes and supplies, then weigh a fully packaged DVD. Buy the appropriate postage STAMPS (more on that later) for the amount it will cost to mail it. You can get stamps in any denomination you need, so you need not waste postage by using only the common 41 cent stamps. You can buy second+ ounce stamps (17 cents) in whatever multiple you need.

Q: how many delegates were you able to get the dvds to?
A: Pretty much every non-Ron Paul delegate to the Alaska Convention, which was around 300 or so (I seem to recall). Out of the 400 or so delegates and alternates listing we had, about 100 were RP delegates. [Just FYI, 367 certified delegates and 11 alternates showed up for the convention. Ron Paul delegates were 107 of those slots, and all of the alternates remaining (6) were RP delegates, too. So, 113 out of 378 is a pretty good representation.]

Q: where or how did you get a list of the delegates?
A: We got ours from the Alaska GOP. Any one who has been elected a delegate to the state convention could request the list, I believe. The rule is probably the same in most states. Others besides us obtained the list too, such as persons running for state party offices, and I personally received two or three mailings from those people. So you should be able to get the list from your state GOP if you are a delegate to the State Convention.

Then, coordinate with Meetups and other resources to determine who on that list are RP delegates. We only sent our DVD to non-RP delegates, as that made the most sense, given the limited funds and time. No need to preach to the choir.

If you have absolutely no Meetup or other way to organize and determine who on the list is an RP delegate, check the donor records (online in various place). If someone has donated to RP and they are on your list, call them up and recruit them to help, first of all, and then take them off your list of people to send DVDs to.

We had a DVD-mailing party and packed them all up into envelopes and addressed them by hand all in less than an hour (we had a good 12 or so people doing this...many hands makes the work go fast).

Q. any other details that you could share....
A. Choose content carefully, and tailor it to your area. Talk lots about your state and your issues. Don't make your physical DVD labelling or the packaging (inside or the envelope) scream "RON PAUL!" Wait till they are watching the DVD to mention Ron Paul at all.

Other recommendations for the mailing:
1.) Make up some return address labels with a catchy name, something like "Alaska GOP Delegates Information" (just don't use the name of a real organization, in other words don't put "Alaska Republican Party, Inc." on your return labels!
2.) For extra republican cred when they look at your package, use a little GOP elephant icon on your address labels. Make the package look distinctly republican and distinctly related to the upcoming convention.
3.) HAND ADDRESS YOUR ENVELOPES. It adds a personal touch.
4.) USE POSTAGE STAMPS, NOT METER LABELS. It adds a personal touch. For maximum effect when dealing with republicans, use US Flag stamps where possible. :)
5.) Package your DVD professionally, in a DVD plastic case with a cover insert, rather than a paper sleeve. You want this to look professional.
6.) Include nothing else in the package except your DVD in its case. No letter, nothing to make it burdensome or require any thought. Most people who are going to be spending time and money to go to a party convention will be interested in the DVD and pop it in their player. Don't give them a reason NOT to do this. Just the mystery of a DVD coming to them will compel most people to watch it, since it seems to be about something they are involved in.

Those are my ideas, drop me a line if you have any other questions. alaskaron [at] g mail [dot] c o m is the easiest way to get a hold of me :)

THANKS A BUNCH!!!

NOW IF I CAN JUST GET ENOUGH OF THE MEETUPS IN MY AREA EXITED ABOUT THIS...many of them don't think outside the box like most of you do...

This is wonderful

It has got to reach hearts. We need something like this in Arizona. I wish we were more organized and someone would do it.

If you have just a few RP supporting friends

and a video camera, you're set. You can use the materials from the Alaska DVD, slap your introduction on it, and sha-zam, instant Ron Paul Delegates DVD :)

If you need technical help, ask me, though I am sure someone in your group could help. But I am willing to help technically on these DVD projects, if asked. i could prepare a master from our sources and yours, and then you could duplicate that professionally using any number of companies, either online or locally.

Awesome work, Iowa!!!!

It really pleases me to see this project spreading to other states.

We had one of the first in the nation state conventions (in March) and our mailing of a DVD to all State Delegates worked well for us in Alaska. We had great comments from non-RP delegates who received our DVDs.

You can take a look at the contents of our DVD online (and download files for use in your own State's project) and you can buy a copy direct from the manufacturer for $2.50 plus postage. Obviously other states will want to alter the Alaska-themed details, but other than that, you may be able to use the rest as-is.

Learn more about the DVD: http://www.ronpauldelegates.info/ (I literally *just* registered this domain, so it may or may not come up for you just yet....but it should soon)

alaska ron ---do you have the details as to what you guys did

Alaska with the DVD project? I thought there was a post on this, but couldn't find it...

I was looking to find out a couple things...

how much did it cost to send them all out?
how many delegates were you able to get the dvds to
where or how did you get a list of the delegates?
any other details that you could share....

this seems like it needs to be done in every state possible so we can educate the delegates...If even half of all the delegates going to the national convention were to see the dvd , and half of them agreed in their mind/or heart to vote for Ron Paul ...We would have another 600+ delegates going to national convention that would vote for Ron Paul.(plus the delegates we already have)

WOW that is amazing...

alaska ron when you log on please post these answers..

I want to spread the word to my meetup group to see if we can duplicate this.

Sorry!

Spring is almost here and I spent most of my day bicycle shopping; time to upgrade and to leave the car behind, at least for the summer.

I am working on a response to this and will post it ASAP.

Sorry!

Awesome Awesome Awesome!

Evidently, this is the same DVD created by Alaska, but with an introduction specific for Iowa. And I believe this (not the Iowa-specific section, but the rest of the disc) is what is being used to target delegates across the nation.

The IA clip said that RP had received more $ from military personnel than any other candidate, Rep or Dem. Actually, he has received more $ from military than all of the other candidates, Rep AND Dem, combined. I hope the correct info gets on the discs for other states.
