thought this was an interesting blog to add.
"It's (EXPELLED) going to appeal strongly to the religious, the paranoid, the conspiracy theorists, and the ignorant –– which means they're going to draw in about 90% of the American market."
-Atheist blogger and fabulist PZ Myers, on a film he has not yet seen.
Thought this was fascinating, but had no idea of the contravercy it would cause. Can we insite this much passion for the National Convention, or does this question the very idea of "who we are?" or maybe even just "who we have been TOLD we are?" Get all this passion bottled up and take it to the National Convention in St. paul this year. Do it for who you really are!!!

The unregenerate and
The unregenerate and regenerate will not see this problem from the same perspective, at least until it's too late for the pagans. Try to agree on this one...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LEsEvb1WsIY

In case some aren't familiar
In case some aren't familiar with Ray Comfort and Kirk Cameron, they don't only (admittedly) use scare tactics to get the most ignorant and weak minded people to listen to what they have to say like shown in the video's linked above, they are also responsible for this classic piece of work that again shows which kind of public they are aiming for,
Atheist "Nightmare":

scare tactic?
if your plane was about to crash and i told you about it, would that be a 'scare tactic'?
if your money was about to become worthless and i told you about it, would that be considered a 'scare tactic'?
it is amazing that you think you can see the truth, yet you don't even consider the possibility of what can happen to you after you die. for we all shall die...and what power over it do you have?
Thomas Jefferson, i guess, used 'scare tactics' also, for he said...
“God who gave us life gave us liberty. And can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are a gift from God? That they are not to be violated but with His wrath? Indeed I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just, and that His justice cannot sleep forever.” (excerpts are inscribed on the walls of the Jefferson Memorial in the nations capital) [Source: Merrill . D. Peterson, ed., Jefferson Writings, (New York: Literary Classics of the United States, Inc., 1984), Vol. IV, p. 289. From Jefferson’s Notes on the State of Virginia, Query XVIII, 1781.]Thomas Jefferson:
2Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
"if your plane was about to
"if your plane was about to crash and i told you about it, would that be a 'scare tactic'?"
- If there is no reason for you to know that and you cannot show anything for it then yes, though this example isn't very good nor meaningful as you can act on it, if possible, without any real effort, consequences or changes of one's way of life.
"if your money was about to become worthless and i told you about it, would that be considered a 'scare tactic'?"
- Again, if you got nothing to show for it, it's equal to Bush saying "The evil terrorists are coming, you need to do /we need to get "
Which of course most people also fall for, the oldest game in the book really.
"it is amazing that you think you can see the truth, yet you don't even consider the possibility of what can happen to you after you die. for we all shall die...and what power over it do you have?"
- I never claimed to see the truth, especially not about something one cannot know. I find it more amazing that you are so worried about that and get talked into and talk yourself into something you follow so slavishly, to such an extent even, that you don't see how slavishly it really is, you (presumably) even like it and wouldn't want it any other way, now that voluntary slavery is something powerful to control or have influence over. Ultimately it is of course very much based on fear, which of course is no different from the people who go along with the war against the very evil terrorists, or the terrorists themselves to whom death is the reward, again, quite powerful stuff.
And I don't need power over it, I accept it, some of us aren't as easily made to worry I suppose, like Mark Twain:
Mr. Clemens was once asked whether he feared death. He said that he did not, in view of the fact that he had been dead for billions and billions of years before he was born, and had not suffered the slightest inconvenience from it.
There isn't all that much scare tactics in the Jefferson quote, though let's do put it into perspective and context:
http://candst.tripod.com/studygd7d.htm
if you just read it...
Jefferson means what he says. and your conscience testifies against you. that is the 'scare tactic'.
if you have died and come back, after being in hell, you would understand where i've been.... (and please, don't tell me it was a chemical brain trip that i took...it will not fly)...and where all will go that do not rely on Jesus Christ for their salvation from that place we all deserve.
2Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
And in my opinion he didn't
And in my opinion he didn't really mean much.
You can claim all you want, and you can also claim I cannot claim it's just a claim, but that doesn't actually make it any more than just a baseless claim.
It's obvious you don't want to hear anything that goes against it as you've convinced yourself, but it is most illogical, let alone have things tied to it like Jesus.
While entertaining,
While entertaining, definitely scary, but I'm less and less surprised by this kind of behaviour after this and some other threads here I have to say.
