Senior Democrats mull Al Gore's nomination

0 votes

"Plans for Al Gore to take the Democratic presidential nomination as the saviour of a bitterly divided party are being actively discussed by senior figures and aides to the former vice-president.

The bloody civil war between Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama has left many Democrats convinced that neither can deliver a knockout blow to the other and that both have been so damaged that they risk losing November's election to the Republican nominee, John McCain...."

A debate between

Hehe...

Or like the Wizard of Oz, Howdy Doody, and Stephen Hawking. At least Gore appears to be intellectual on the surface.

;)

Whatever... they have no

Whatever... they have no idea if Owl Gore can unite the party. They speculate, but if he does get in the pool. I predict more dissension and upheaval with the DNC. GO Owl GO!

Several polls..

.. show him doing ok

Doing okay in a race for the

Doing okay in a race for the nomination/presidency or uniting the Dems?

Doing ok...

.. in polls asking about if Gore should be given the nomination. No race involved...

=)

...just hand it over to him

...just hand it over to him in the face of Clinton and Obama? Yeah okay! Do they really think that's a good idea?

The senior democrats are saying...

.. that a significant number of Obama and Hillary supporters hate the other candidate so much they are saying in polls they will vote for McCain instead of holding their noses and voting democratic for party unity. The senior democrats are indicating they think Gore won't have that problem.

These are senior democrats (who are also superdelegates) saying this, not bloggers or media wonks. Supposedly 100 superdelegates could cause a brokered convention to occur at which time they would propose that Gore be the nominee and take either Obama or Clinton as the vice-president. Such a scenario, of choosing a person for the nominee who didn't even run, is completely within the rules of brokered conventions for both the democratic and republican parties.

None of this is my opinion. I'm just relaying what the senior democrats are supposedly discussing...

Interesting, i hope they

Interesting, i hope they themselves apart is all.

When it comes to McCain,

When it comes to McCain, Clinton or Obama it really makes no difference. Each of them will spend us into oblivion, just in different ways.

...

The conventions are going to

The conventions are going to be pretty exciting this year. A new reality show for people that watch the tube.oh and I have a name for it! "We let you watch who the media picks for president"

I can't wait..

.. to pay global taxes if Gore is elected. I'm not taxed enough.

Wasn't Obama the one

Wasn't Obama the one proposing a global tax? Heh, they probably both are.

...

Yup..

.. both. But Gore has a longer history of advocating a global tax and has a more detailed "plan" centered around taxing energy use and also taxing navigation and transport in international waters and airspace.

I would love to see a Gore/ Paul debate

I think its a pipedream though- the day Gore reenters the political arena is the day he goes against a 3rd party Ron Paul. Could you imagine the debate between those 2 and McCain? itd be like a Jam session with Beethoven Mozart and Sanjaya.

Haha..

.. yes, I would love that too. Paul would destroy Gore and his pseudo-intellectual warm-fuzzy socialist blathering. >;)

McCain would be reduced to grinning like a fearful chipmunk and mumbling, "I have smart friends who know about that stuff... Look! Over in the corner! Terrorists! I will protect you!"
