Eliminating the IRS?

I am wondering how Dr. Paul is planning to eliminate the IRS as we know it?
He said on a few occasions that he will need consensus from the people and Congress and it will be tied to the overall foreign policy. This is very general. I think we need more details in order for his campaign to be broaden and accepted by the average voter during the general election.
This kind of question will be asked over and over by the mainstream media and we need to provide reasonable details and plans that are attainable and will make sense to the average voter.

Very simple, it's an executive agency
Therefore he can defund their operations, pardon the tax prisoners, and call the IRS Commissioner on the carpet on NATIONAL LIVE TV and demand an answer to those famous tax questions. He as President has a tremendous bully pulpit and making use of it is rather easy to do.
To eliminate the IRS is pretty simple.
All Ron Paul would have to do is pardon everybody in prison placed there due to the personal income tax. That would probably be a big enough statement to no longer require anybody else to fill taxes. Thus the IRS would be done. www.penaltyprotestor.com watch the video, check out the court cases and learn about the PRA (paperwork reduction act) and how the IRS is breaking the law.
Eliminate The I.R.S.
Softening statements like " I would do away with the I.R.S." is a must. I agree that most people become comfortable with what is and are afraid of change, especially if they do not understand the process of change.
Ron Paul has spoken of changing our foreign policy, that this would be the major underpinning of why America could eventually do away with federal income taxes. I would hope that the further into the primary process, Ron Paul could keep his explanation "simple" enough where voters feel confident and believe in his position.
Stop subsidizing the world
... take care of our own. Condi going round the Middle East dishing out $60 billion for military aid to Arab nations... that's just stealing from us to give to Arabs and subsidizing defense contractors.
Cut the national debt. Currently paying $500 billion p.a. on interest alone. We're borrowing money to pay interest. Try and run a household like that? Run a surplus; sorry no ethanol subsidies, sorry not paying for a Woodstock memorial; sorry no bridge in Alaska, use a ferry; sorry, not spending $9 billion on a presidential fleet of helicopters; sorry, not giving Homelands Security $75 million to spend in South Dakota; sorry, don't need three quarters of CIA; sorry not funding the war on dugs; sorry, not bankrolling the Endowment for the Arts; not funding PBS; shut down the Dept. of Education, Commerce; etc. etc... real easy, a hundred billion dollars here, and another over there...
Plano TX
I like PBS
The only thing stopping me from becoming a member of my local PBS station (WTTW Chicago) is the fact that they force me to give them money. Once they no longer receive federal money, I (along with about a dozen others I know of) will become members at the next pledge drive.
In fact, everything you listed is an unnecessary function that our government performs anyway. If people want art, why can't they fund it themselves? If you don't want your kids to be drug addicts, why not teach them why doing drugs is bad for them? Why can't the people involved in Woodstock pay for the memorial themselves? If a bridge is needed in Alaska, perhaps the people using the bridge could pay for it using tolls.
Drain the swamp!
Simple math....
Spending has gone up 30% since the year 2000 (as of 2006, so now it's probably gone up higher). The federal income tax makes up 30% of federal revenues.
Abolish the IRS today, get rid of the income tax, and reduce spending to year 2000 levels, levels when a Democratic president was in office.
It may be hard for the champagne socialists in Congress, but it's not really that hard for a commonsense person used to working with a budget. Just end the war and cut the excess fat added on since 2000.

First, we have to cut spending. That is where our foreign policy comes in.
Thanks for the Info But
There are many issues that need to be simplified for the "Average Joe" voter in order to win in the primaries and the general election. Most voters (60-70% are moderate) don't like major changes. They get scared! Dr. Paul needs to emphasize "transition" for some of the issues so we can reach the majority. See this article:

People become less moderate
People become less moderate when it comes to matters of their paycheck, specifically increasing it.
He would abolish the income
He would abolish the income tax, which with the loss of revenue, would require a budget the size of Bill Clinton's last term. Was government too small or too big then?
Yes that is the answer CB!!
If we would eliminate ALL the current collections of the IRS - the U.S. would have the same amount of money to budget to ALL of its programs that were funded only 7 years AGO!! Cut out the war and 750 military bases in 132 countries and plenty is left to fund the social programs until they are supplanted by private donations...
go RON!!
