Ya know what....I am totally in debt to Ron for so many things...I don't care if he did/would take that money for himself. I gave it to him freely to do what ever he thought best...so it is no longer my money to be concerned with. I trust him to do the right thing with it...and that's the end of it for me.

This is so patently a smear campaign, and so obviously against campaign finance laws in any event, that I refuse to dignify it with any further comment.
I frankly don't care if he and Carol
take out a million for themselves for a nice retirement.
He is 72 and deserves something like this after ALL the years of sticking up for us. Eating lunch by himself,and putting up with swimming with the sharks for decades.
The gift would make news, (I assume) and show just how deeply we care about him and the state of affairs of this Country.

I think it is a cleverly designed mini-smear to attempt to put doubt in supporters minds about Paul's intentions. Problem is..Supporters are too smart to fall for this.

While all of you are argueing over is it right or is it wrong, do you trust Dr. Paul to do the right thing, etc etc etc... did you ever think? Why is the Campaign even talking about left over campaign funds when the campaign is supposedly still an ongoing venture? Why not spend that money on the campaign itself and get a win? Isn't that why the money was donated? If all the money that has been donated had been spent wisely Dr.Paul would be in McCains place right now. It is still not too late.. Stop planning on spending left over money, spend it now on getting Ron to the Convention ... And trusting Jessie Benton for telling it like it is? Isn't he the one that said the Straw Poll in Iowa was "absolutely out in the open and honest?"

I saw Ron Paul speak last
I saw Ron Paul speak last week and he mentioned this money. My impression, altho it was not explicitly stated by him, was that it was going to remain there until the end of the election season while he continues to frugally spend it on the campaign. How do we know that it won't be spent on advertising prior to the RNC? Do we know that he has no plans to spend some of it on advertising for the general in November? I cannot in good conscience bring myself to think ill of him especially when it comes to money matters. Let's not forget that this is the candidate who does Not fly in a private jet or stay in 5 star hotels...on the contrary, this is the candidate who every year sends money back to the Treasury from his congressional office budget. I think it would be wise to reserve judgment (if we feel inclined to judge at all) until all the facts are known regarding his plans.

Look guys, one of the MANY reasons we all love the Good Doctor is his fiscal conservatism... For gosh sakes the man is the only politician with the Cahones to ballance the budget! Are you really going to get mad at him for running a frugal campaign, and having 5 million dollars left over?
Now, you could make the argument that he ought to be blowing it all on some good ol' fashioned TV ads or something... but really the only chance we have of getting Paul nominated at this point is swarming state conventions and using the party rules to derail the 'straight talk' express. Commercials are just a waste of cash right now...
Personally, I think that him spending the extra cash on a publishing house that puts out economic texts and generic Paleo-Conservative literature is a great idea.
Just think about it for a sec:
What is Ron Paul's primary goal? - To win.
What is Ron Paul's secondary goal? - To educate.
Having a truly conservative publishing house will help us spread the message of the revolution, and preserve what we have accomplished in this primary season. I can think of no better way to have him spend my contribution.

It is not saying RP is stealing anyhting or implying we have been duped. it simply states a possible option with a question mark.
This is exactly what should be done with the left over money. Use to further reach the masses. Spending on an indivual here and there I think is not spending the money to the best of its ability.
The publication should be by email saving millions. When there is a candidat worth backing, RP can endorse such candidate and urge the people of such state or territory of the election to back such said individual.
This could be a weekly update of how the government is acting, good or bad. A email publication can have new readers added and affected every week. We all know people with their heads in the sand that could use some good reading.
It would be a publication/voice for the people that promote freedom.
