Don't Bash Democrats - We're for Ron Paul, too!

Come on people... do NOT bash democrats... Ron Pauls message is for everyone and we dont want to alienate past democrats.
You have to understand (from a Democrats point of view) that in past elections we have only been faced with two parties. They have been like night and day. Everyone seems to think so poorly of democrats but they have good ideas also. THE WHOLE RON PAUL MOVEMENT IS THAT the party lines have blurred, which they have....
LOOK AT WHAT I HAVE HAD TO CHOOSE FROM IN THE PAST EIGHT YEARS *ANYONE* VS NEO-CON BUSH! I AM PROUD TO SAY I VOTED BOTH TIMES AGAINST BUSH. I AM PROUD TO SAY I VOTED DEMOCRAT INSTEAD OF REPUBLICAN....

why?? because the Republicans have been soo tied in with the moral majority that they want to remove individual rights and dictate their policies on the public. They wanted to remove civil liberties. Also they have been spending far too much money also.... They were neo-connish... I know majority of supporters for Ron Paul are dishearted republicans and less democrats, but I would say its probably 70/30% support here republicans vs democrats.

WE ARE ALL IN THIS FOR LIBERTY AND LIFE.... stop the democrat and Hillary bashing for now. It will probably come to more of a War on Hillary if and when we get Ron Paul for the republican nomination, but I can tell you right now, if it comes to Hillary vs Guiliani, I *will* revert back to protecting my civil rights and trying to get us out of Iraq by voting for Hillary....

But that is not the issue at this time. Our main focus is to get Ron Paul elected, and to achieve that we must EMBRACE DEMOCRATS AS WELL AS LIBETARIANS AND REPUBLICANS CAUSE IF ITS NOT RON PAUL ON THE REPUBLICAN SIDE, THERE WILL BE NO CONTEST THAT HILLARY IS OUR NEXT PRESIDENT. The die-hard neo-con republicans stand a snowballs chance in hell with Guiliani...
DEMOCRATS ARE PEOPLE TOO WHO BELIEVE IN CIVIL LIBERTIES AND WANT OUT OF IRAQ... REMEMBER IT WAS GEORGE BUSH, CHENEY, ETC.. ****REPUBLICANS**** WHO STARTED THIS WAR...
so you WHO ARE WITHOUT SIN, need to stop pointing fingers.

Just my Opinion...

I agree, don't bash .... Also, I think we need to SPLIT the Revolution for Liberty.

We need a Libertarian/Constitutionalists in BOTH parties.

Why? Because that is how you spell success in American Politics.

The War Party has split. They still are on the Democrat Left, with think tanks and so on... Recall the Bosnian War, Madeline Halfbright....and thanks to Ronald Reagan bringing them on board the "small government revolution", the NeoCons joined the Republicans who have the American Enterprise institute, the Iraq War, and Dick Cheney.

For our new Liberty & Peace & Prosperity Revolution to succeed, it will need to split into the Democratic party and of course stay in the Republican Party.

The Environmentalist movement made great strides in this way in the 70's when they pushed politicians regardless of the R or D behind their name.

Gravel, Kucinich, and the ACLU are the part of the Revolution that we could build on with the Democrats.

Ron Paul and CATO can build on with the Republicans.

The Libertarian/Constitutionalist movement SHOULD learn from the mistakes of the Environmentalist movement. Their mistake is shady science, highly selective science. To the degree they get the science right, they do well. But they turned their precious energies to making the Green Party, and with that, science went out the window. With that, down went thier influence upon eiher party. They lost their influence when they "identified" themselves with the liberal democratic left. Like in the 70's, they should have stuck to lobbying and educating BOTH sides.... now they are "seen" as from the Democratic Party Left. In reality, libertarian policitcal theory has a lot to add to the conversation, but because it has allowed itself to be "seen" as a from the Republican Party Right, they too suffer the effects of No Influence.

Libertarian political theory needs to move towards GROUNDING itself to the social sciences. It needs to become a science. When one can get a Phd in Libertarian Science, then libertarianism is here to stay. Currently is in terrible danger of fading away into the dust bin of history, much like Freudian theory as gone away like some giant-well elaborated & logical--thought bubble. The science of evolutionary biology, neuropsychology. sociobiology, earth science and many more will make, SHOULD make, the underpinning legs of which Libertarian Political science sits on.

Back 300 years ago, libertarianism was a science, it was the new science of political economy. John Locke, Adam Smith, John Stewart Mill Thomas Jefferson and others were liberties top scientist of their day. Herbert Spencer deserves the credit for starting the science of Sociology and resting it upon darwinian evolution, though today it finds itself "out in Left field" --pun indended. Sure Spencer had its faults, but a fresh look shows he was not that far off the mark.

As darwinian evolutionary science has grown, expanded and evolved, so will the science of libertarian polictial theory need to grow, expand & evolve. Both Freud and Spencer got their beloved Darwin's evolutionary theory not quite right, but at least they knew where they wanted to be. Today modern biological sciences have now grown in suffiecient strength that it is very close to reaching up and touching Political Econom of Mankind. Libertarian Polical theory needs to be there.

LibertarianISM, as well as SocialISM, MarxISM, and even modern day varieties of CapitalISM will soon be affected by what science knows about the biological & social & economic Nature of Man. Steven Pinker, in The Blank Slate, takes notice of this. Taking his cue from Edward O Wilson's book Consilience, in the book, Darwinian Politics, professor Rubin looks at Libertarian theory and shows us how libertarian political theory holds up so far. And science does not play favorites. Already economic science main assumptions are being challenged.

Lets take the Drug War, for example, to see how it hold up. Yes, if a button was infront of us that would stop the Drug War, I would push it and so would Ron Paul. But maybe should NOT BE SO SURE of Ourselves. My reverance for individual, the libertarian & free market premises that I hold DOES all tell me to push that button for Liberty, but SCIENCE may tell us WE HAVE MORE to CONSIDER. We must consider Mankind in total, from all points of view.

The delema comes from what evolutionary biologist call I believe "Mate Handicaping Complex" .... (or some such name). The point being, some species, say birds for example, go through a whole list of behaviors prior to matting. Some of the behaviors are actually mini-Arms-Races. Amoung the males competing for females, things can get life threatening and very deadly. Being a very brightly colored male bird does say to the female, look how healthy I am, look at how well feed I am, AND look, I am STILL alive after all this time being Bright & Colorful - a few close calls with Hawks, but I am still alive. Or take the Peacocks tail....certainly an advertizement, but also it Handi-caps the male in evading preditors and fighting male competitors.

Back to the Drug War? What does all this have to do with Humans? Well as anthropology has documented, we all become teenagers. We all love to dance. We all love music. We all love to show off.....females in one way, males in another. Males show off by taking huge physical riskes to themselves. From dancing 4 days straight around a fire, taking halucenegenetic drugs, walking on burning hot coals... we males Show Off -- Mate handi Cap--- ourselves. We do this to "prove something" to other men, other woman, and to ourselves. We have all asked, "what are we proving?"....... well aparently, a whole lot. From small town drag racing in the 50's and "playing" chicken with the oncoming car, to getting drunk until you puke, to getting high and staying out so late, ONLY to get up the next day - "gee how does he do that?!" and go take a college exam and PASS it with "Flying Colors". (sometimes our words betray us all too well).

Back to the Drug war? Well, not just yet. Examples of human males engaging in self distructive & complex "mate handicapping" behavior is too long to list. Its what you would expect from a highly intelligent and very creative and original Naked Ape. Anthropology can tell us a lot about how tribes and other societies handled this problem. And make no mistake about it, its a problem for the parents and elders who do not wish to see an ARMS - Race in sex destructive "Mate Handicapping" behavior get out of control, and in effect, kill off the next generation. Sociobiology and neuropsychology also ways in on this all to human mating behavior. Tribes all made special weeks, restricted to certain times of the year, with prescribed boundries all designed to make sure the mini-arms race came to an end....a healthy end.

Ok, now back to the "drug war". The libertarian "political perscription" to this problem MAY actually backfire....to the horror of libertarians (myself included) and the rest who followed the advice to simple "legalize all drugs". A libertarian social scientist may not say the same thing. He may, taking into account all the above and more, realize the cultural need for "drug liberty" but temper that by perscribing ritual times, dates, hours, and methods....in effect advocating a ceromonial "party time". When one looks at our universities, perhaps thats what has already happened. Or, mayber our Phd Libertarian MAY, still, even after all the wisdom of the underlying sciences, come to conclude that the drug and drinking binges, the mini-arms Mate Handi-caping races, does not superceed the current libertarian premise of full 100% liberty, anytime, anyplace, regardless of social customs and moral hazards and health controls.

The fact is we don't know where future "libertarian science"....will go. But it can start by picking up where Spencer and Freud left off. It remains to be seen how much science will leave of libertarian political theory. Most of the "Great Ones" are all dead. May Murray Rothbard, Ayn Rand, Milton Friedman, Ludwig Von Mises, Fredrick Hayek, Henry Hazelt, and many more be so honored as to know thier work and insights were good after all stood the test of science and time. I am just thankful enough to know that at 46, I will get to see the out come

Invest in Liberty, one Apartment deal at a time with me. Get a check each month as a passive investor, just ask me how.

Haha - "Just your opinion"..

Seems more like fact, than opinion to me. :P
A real awesome 'world view' so to speak Treg, fantastic read and all of it correct. Just one side note about the drug war; economics playing an effect. Drugs being inelastic, (higher prices - don't curb the demand) what you find is that, by having a war on drugs (suppliers are jailed etc. supply limited) so - prices naturally go up. The effect though, isn't less people buying drugs... the same people who are drug users (if addicted: most are) then they HAVE to get the money from some where... or some how. Hence, drug-related crimes go up, Up, UP.

So oddly, if you want to reduce drug related crimes, you invest in programs that get people OFF the drugs, and the addiction. Not, put millions into Police Forces etc, raids.. which will just make the problem worse. More crime etc. Wow - need to escalate Police force etc. etc.

But you are totally right, there is often un-intended consequences. Which comes down to a degree, 'blow back'. Science helps us understand, be it a social science or whatnot. Knowledge is the key, and the more you have the better. And yea, the areas you mentioned definitely need to be continued, or well lose this valuable info.

All she or he is saying, is please

don't bash democrats. I think that's a fair request. In fact, what point is there in bashing anyone. Bashing is sheer violence. Be nice or at least try to show some respect. We are all passengers of a gigantic shipwreck called Statism and Big government and police state mentality and whatever else you want to throw into the mix. Integrity is what we are seeking. Integrity of government, respecting the constitution, freedom for all. Forget about party labels, please, let's just work together as one. Part of the freedom message is allowing others to be who or what they want to be. Part of the arrogance message is thinking you're better than everyone else or that you are more correct or that you know what's good for everybody. Remember the word rEVOLution has that word LOVE inside of it. Now kiss and make up everyone, we have work to do.

I never bash anyone

I never bash anyone personally for their politics, except the politicians themselves. But I do openly bash terrible ideologies, as I see them. Unfortunately, many people take that as personal criticism. I can't help it if people can't or aren't willing to drop their ridiculous party loyalties. If I poke holes in your party, you should feel nothing; you are not your party (I hope).

This should be an intellectual exercise, not an emotional one.

I'm a recovering Democrat

Why one simple reason I just so happen to realize that Republicans where fascist before I realized Democrats were socialist heading towards communist. Guys neither of these these ideaologies are good ones. They both lead to dictatorship. We need to secure seperation of church and state. We need to secure the Bill of Rights. We need to uphold the Constitution. We need to secure a free market economy (capitalism). This is all we need folks All the rich people of today became rich through this ideaology. The only problem is once they got theirs they started closing it off to others. There is no rich and poor on this site. There is only poor. Even if you have millions of dollars today that means nothing in a fascist and communist country. Today your rich, tommorow they take it. You mean nothing in their grand plan. Money is not evil. but the love of it will make a man do almost anything. If you truly loved your money you would get rid of it now and donate to RP. Without him in office your money will soon be gone. That is unless your willing to bend down and lick the commadors boots. Wake up my brothers wipe the sleep from your eyes. Today is your day to choose are we a free people or not. Is it worth fighting for freedom or is it not. Will we work together or will we be divided. This is a video of what it looks like when people throw these ideaologies aside and become one. just think its important to see what it looks like so we don't forget what its like. This is my meetup we are equally split between Republicans Democrates Libretarians and Independants. Our should I say Recovering:

I congratulate you on your

I congratulate you on your ability to recognize your formerly flawed ideology, and willingness to correct it. True freedom includes economic freedom, not just personal freedom. Both the far-left Democrats and neo-con Republicans have failed us miserably, and it is time to overthrow them. The Constitution promotes libertarianism (small L). (I say small L, because the Libertarian Party does not necessarily represent the Constitution, any more than the Constitution Party does -- parties are dangerous traps.)

Hmmm Trap you say intresting

This is the trap for you to see it first hand. we need out of the trap.

Uh, sorry but, the far-left Democrats...

aren't in control of the Democratic Party.

The DLC, or the centrists, are.

Dennis Kucinich's folks are nowhere near being in control.

So if you want to criticize the far-left Dems, please don't chracterize them as being in control.

They are the farthest thing from it.

Shhh!

Politics are 2-dimensional

Politics are 2-dimensional (at least). You have an economic scale and a social scale, both ranging from total control to total freedom. Kucinich is on the left side of the economic scale, like most Democrats. From the perspective of freedom, one step over that line is too far.

Those Democrats you call "centrist" are just those who have begun to follow the neo-cons on the social scale.

And please don't shush me.

Democrats want out of Iraq?

That may be true of citizens that are democrats but it isn't true of the party!

The only reason the democratic party talks like it wants out of Iraq is because the war is unpopular and the democrats smell blood.

If Gore had been elected in 2000 we would be in the same situation right now except that democrats would be defending the war and republicans would be criticizing it. The republicans would be saying, "See, I told you Bush should of gotten elected then we would of had a humble foreign policy."

IT'S ALL POLITICS! Democrats vs. Republicans is all bull!

Nice rap, mate. And spot on,

Nice rap, mate. And spot on, too. In fact, I sent my oldest friend, a lifelong Democrat who lives in New Hampshire, my web site the day before yesterday. I hadn't sent him the link before because we have never been able to talk politics. Now HE's a paulie, too

democracts on the hill + neocons on the hill = same people

good dems and true conservatives = american representatives

I very much agree with the

I very much agree with the author in the general point of the article. We are not democrats or republicans. We are Ron Paul supporters. I didn't start supporting RP because of his party affiliation, I started supporting him because I support his stance on the issues. I don't care if people are democrats, republicans, independents, liberatarians, greens, torries, or whigs. Every vote in the primary counts now more than ever. Every donation counts now more than ever.

Vote in the republican primary in your state. If you have not donated to the cause, do so. Even if you have no money and can donate time by standing on a corner with a sign, support the cause with all you can.

Consider settting party affiliations aside

Dr. Paul represents hope for all of us regardless of beliefs. A study of US history will reveal that the founding fathers worked together to get the job done. It was the only way they could succeed and they knew it.

"Hang together or we will all hang together."

Keep in mind that these men, if captured by the British, would have been killed.

They gave us a great document that is now the only thing between us and slavery. I am sure the majority of the people reading this know what has happened in the last 6 years alone to our constitutional protections. In the last six months through "acts" and executive orders elements within the current administration have suspended Posse Comitatus. This will allow the president to order US soldiers to kill US citizens. This is one part of the Warner Act which has helped make the president of the United States on a par with the head of North Korea. I care very little for any American's political affiliation.

Dr. Paul does not represent a chance for the Republican party to "come back."

Dr. Paul does not represent a chance for one party to defeat another.

Dr. Paul does not represent a chance for a liberal or a conservative.

Dr. Paul is hope for all Americans. As the man who has wrapped himself in the constitution of the United States he is one chance we all have at saving our country and our individual rights.

When considering ripping another another candidate or organization keep in mind that the people who want to beat Dr. Paul are praying that our camp will split. They are frightened of us and what Dr. Paul represents.

I think we have to fight this one like it is the last one. If anyone wants to stand beside me in the last fight I'm not checking their background.

Best to all,

Only one Party

Wake up call to all that are unaware there is little difference between Dem's and Republicans.....they are only made to appear as such.

Please listen to this very eye opening video with Mr. Griffin, author of Creature from Jekyll Island.

When you are done, yes, you may just want to go make a donation to the cause. Not the Dem. or Repub. cause, but the American cause.

I'm sorry guys.This

I'm sorry guys.
This conversation is becoming ridiculous.
You are conducting the conversation like there are 2 different parties in this country. When we all wake up and start to understand that there is only one party here?.... With 2 fractions.
Clinton worst than Bush discussion is pointless, since they represent differences on minor issues. And same views on major issues, like killing people in foreign countries and enslaving people in our country, by denying basic civil liberties.

URGE PBS TO CORRECT ERROR

Recently, Judy Woodruff interviewed Dennis Kucinich on the PBS Newshour. I watched the beginning of the video on YouTube and was appalled that she said to Rep. Kucinich, "You are the only 2008 presidential candidate who five years ago this week voted against giving the president the authorization to go to war in Iraq."

Obviously, she was mistaken; Ron Paul most definitely voted against that resolution. Perhaps she meant to say DEMOCRATIC candidate, perhaps she was being deliberately misleading; whatever her reason, Judy needs to be called on this error. I have written PBS asking for her to make an on-air correction of her error.

I urge other Ron Paul supporters to do the same.

This focus on

This focus on Democrat/Republican can be confusing and distracting. The basic question facing our Nation is:

What is the role of government?

I would like to be as even handed as I can and simply say the role of government is limited by the constitution and as long as everyone can agree to those limitations we can all get along peachy. I doubt we can all agree about the legitimate role of government.

Ron Paul will need to show he can defeat the Democrats so you Democrats who wish to support him please understand he will be disparaging your party with regularity.

What does the Democrat party view as the legitimate role of government? I believe it involves re-distribution of wealth. This is the equivalent of socialism. Sorry guys but perhaps you may want to adjust your party platform to better reflect a constitutionally enlightened electorate sometime soon.

Hey just read this and have

Hey just read this and have not found yet were Demcrats are being bashed but will say that what the thread started with is so true. I have never and unless I find another Ron Paul will never again vote Republican but for the first time in my life I will. But I too am glad to say I did not vote for Bush. Any leader that makes it thier priority to legislate moriality will never get my vote (SO GLAD RON PAUL IS HERE THAT I DON'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT THAT IN THIS ELECTION). but it must be understood that one of the things that is most important to most democrates is the ability to decide for our selves what is moral. So for all the elections I have been able to vote it has been a democrat or a third party because it is not the governements job to tell me what my morals should be.

"I have always imagined that Paradise will be a kind of library"

"I have always imagined that Paradise will be a kind of library"

"if it comes to Hillary vs Guiliani"

I'll move to a different country.

Since 2000...

I have been hanging out with Democrats on the Internet. The left is no different than the right in most respects. The Right can go too far and want to use government to force themselves on others... the Left does the exact same thing when they get in power... for example wanting to pass laws to allow cops to arrest parents for smoking in a car that also has their kids in it... toooo far....

However the left and right generally do want the same things... they only want to solve the issues differently...

The right wants to believe that people should make their own way or else should receive help by asking for it.

The left wants to help people by using one size fits all government solutions because it gives an immediate sense of accomplishment... even though there ARE long term down falls like the corruption we see today.

There is NO need to demonize either side. I have seen BRILLIANT defenders of the Constitution on the left as they stuck down argument after argument of the neo cons by qouting Jefferson Washington etc... we all want the same things... we just need to find solutions that are in synch...

There is more than one way to skin a cat!

You Know

You know this is dailypaul.com right?
No where here does it say I have to be pro-Hillary.
In my opinion, I think she's the Antithesis of what I want my government to be about. My criticism is with her and not with Democrat voters.
People are people, and once they understand that a failing dollar will make cost of living go up and make even a gallon of milk expensive they'll understand.

Like that corny 1st commercial says, you may not agree with everything Ron Paul says, but he's honest. He honest and sincere and has no hidden motives. He simply wants to give back our freedoms and reduce the scope of government.

Actually Ron Paul isn't going to immediately eliminate large socialist programs like Social Security, but is going to make it so kids can opt out.
It's all about a gradual work in progress so that at the end of his 8 years the person that takes the helm from him will be able to do so without giving me a heart attack.

I do think, however, that Devil Advocate brings up a point at an odd time and place. I am almost suspicious if this was not done intentionally so as to disrupt our grassroots campaign. Yesterday there were a few people calling to fire Snyder because of that ad on the youtube thread. I asked them which meetup group they were in and they wouldn't say.

Anyways, stay alert folks, the attacks are going to get stronger before they get weaker. We are officially in the third stage of Gandhi's quote, that isn't just Ron Paul, that's all of us.

"I do think, however, that

"I do think, however, that Devil Advocate brings up a point at an odd time and place. I am almost suspicious if this was not done intentionally so as to disrupt our grassroots campaign."

I totally agree. Devils Advocate... you're an idiot. [Withdrawal of statement & apology - pending evidence that his statements are true]. (GO on link me!)

Democrat bashing? plu-eeze, whatever. I used to be demo supporter +1000%. Your comments are NOT even worth a reply.

100% of Democrats Voted for the Massive CJS Appropriations Bill

Let's take a look at what happened just two weeks ago:

The Commerce, Justice and Science Appropriations Act was up for a vote in the Senate after breezing past the Democrat House. The act was to give $Billions to special interests not to mention $430Million to feminist groups to enforce regulations against men and setup things like a socalled "stalker database" which, like the sex offender database includes people who were just watering the foilage or skinnydipping, will someday include lots of guys who tried to send a woman flowers after an argument.

Now who voted for all these billions of unaccounted for pork contained in the infamous CJS Appropriations bill?

The answer is 100% of all Democrats.

Only 19 Republican senators listened to the veterans and other anti-pork crowd who called to say "Don't vote for all this pork".

It was the Neocons and Rhinos who voted with the Democrats on giving so many earmarked billions. We are talking Coleman, Sununu, Gordon Smith, Hagel and the outgoing Warner of Virginia.

Senator Coburn of Oklahoma, a real conservative, is very upset that all those $billions in earmarks are not going to even be discussed or exposed to the American people.

Ron Paul is no Democrat. He is no left winger. Democrats are welcome to see the light and join him in helping to stop the special interest groups, but please don't be suggesting that Joe Biden or Obama would be acceptable alternatives.

Ron Paul is a REPUBLICAN

If a Democrat changes their registration to Republican so they can vote for Ron Paul in a primary then I join the angels in heaven as they celebrate a sinner being saved! Such a Democrat is a Democrat no more! Go forth and spread the good news of lower taxes, smaller government, the 2nd amendment, protecting the unborn, ending the war and all the other joys of the Ron Paul platform. However, a Democrat that does not promise to vote for Ron Paul in the primaries, promotes Hillary Clinton's platform of continuing the war, socialized health care, higher taxes, and all the other junk that Ron Paul opposes is an enemy and deserves to be treated as such.

I admire your passion and

I admire your passion and your support for Paul, but I must respectfully say that you have nothing to be proud of for voting Democrat.

To over-generalize for a moment, Democrats want a socialized economy. Socialism is demonstrably evil. Republicans, at least the modern-day neo-con variety, want to crush our liberties "in the name of security." This is equally evil, just a different kind. Liberty means freedom from government control; Democrats and Republicans both favor government control.

The lesser of two evils is still evil.

I was once like you, but in the reverse: I voted Republican, because I viewed it as my duty to do anything in my power to stop socialism. Now, I'll only vote for the Constitution. If no candidate represents it, I will write in "Thomas Jefferson." Luckily, this election we have Ron Paul.

Welcome aboard, my fellow Patriot!

OK if you are into

OK if you are into generalizing, I would say most Democrats don't even think of themselves as Socialists. They hope to have a society that isn't dominated by rich and powerful people with no concern for the little guy. In the last few decades other issues have crept in, from racism to global warming, so the lines are blurring fast.

I made sure Ron Paul was not for throwing people into the streets before I became a supporter. I don't think he is a racist, though yesterday one Black did yell at our RP sign wavers yesterday that that is our secret agenda. I like that getting rid of the Fed will likely stop the "inflation tax" that hurts the rich the least. I like that RP doesn't take money from big corporations and so has created no obligations to them. I like that RP is for stopping the war on drugs that is imprisoning poor drug users and not rich drug users. I like that RP is thinking about waitresses with his bill to exempt their tips from income tax. Stopping illegal immigration helps working class citizens by keeping wages higher. These are among many reasons a Democrat would like Ron Paul even if there were no Iraq War.

Calling Democrats Socialists is name-calling and that will turn off cross-over voters like me and we need every vote we can get.

I understand that Democrats

I understand that Democrats don't *think of themselves* as socialists, because most don't even realize that they are. But the policies of the Democratic Party are indeed socialist by definition. Recognizing a truth and refusing to whitewash it is not name-calling -- it is honesty.

I refuse to be intellectually dishonest. Are Democrats evil? No; most are motivated by noble ideals. But their methodology, socialism, whether declared or not, *is* in fact evil. There is no way to smooth over this reality.

The same can be said of Republicans. I'm sure they believe that they are helping people by upholding Christian moral standards, but they are still endorsing oppression. And the neo-con variety is becoming increasingly fascist. I'm not eager to throw around such terms, I'm not trying to insult either side, I'm just calling a spade a spade.

If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it's probably a duck.

socialist is not a synonym for "bad"

"But the policies of the Democratic Party are indeed socialist by definition."

I seriously doubt many Democrats want the government to own and manage all industry ("the means of production"). That's the main socialist plank, by defintion. I know my family and friends don't, for instance. And I don't think you'll find it in the Dems' platform. It is possible to be in favor of a regulated, mixed economy. I'm not, but it is possible. Very common, in fact.
