RedState Is Lying About Their Policy!
Submitted by FatDrunkAndStupid on Sun, 10/28/2007 - 17:26Hi. Just wanted everyone to know that RedState is now banning all mention of Ron Paul. A couple days ago, in an attempt to make their ban look reasonable, they claimed they would only limit Ron Paul mentions from people who registered in the last six months. I've been a member of Redstate for 2 years and 2 weeks. Last night somebody posted a topic about ethanol driving up the price of beer and blaming in on global warming nutcases. In my response to this, I explained how we as Conservatives are just as responsible and pointed out that all the GOP candidates other than Paul are gung-ho about Corn subsidies and that some where even using the absurd Archer Daniels Midland euphenism "food security" at the last debate. My mention of Paul was strictly an aside. I only mentioned him for the sake of accuracy since a blanket statement that ALL the GOP candidates support Ethanol would be wrong because Paul doesn't. But even that is too much for RedState. My two year membership was banned.
I think we need to get this fact out there. RedState is claiming they are only banning Paul mentions from NEW members in an attempt to make it look like all "real" conservatives support the NeoCons. But their policy is an outright lie. What they are really doing is purging from their membership any longtime posters who happen to support Paul, while pretending they are only banning new posters. The result makes it look like all old time RedState posters hate Paul. Not true. They're just quitely banning us while telling everyone else they aren't!
We need to get the truth out there on this. If they want to play thought police with their own board- fine. But we can't let them get away with lying about what they are doing. Other Conservaties on RedState should know what they are up to.
My username on RedState, btw, was "teamrican", and the post in question was entitled something like "$750 a Barrel" (a reference to the price of a barrel of beer, I suppose). Immediately after that post, I was banned. I mention this just so anybody who wants to can look up the thread and see what I wrote. Unlike RedState, I have nothing to hide.

Who Cares?
about redstate? i didn't even know they existed until they started cluttering my ron paul news results. as far as i'm concerned they can go take a long walk off a short pier.
The only lesson we ought to take from this though is to be circumspect, judicious, and measured in our promotion of Dr. Paul. i.e. We each ought to ask ourselves, "will this action help or hurt Ron Paul's chances of winning the nomination?"
Forget Red State
Our goal should be to have dailypaul get at least double the web traffic by the start fo the primaries. That means we need to stop reading their stupid articles if they pop up on google.
google...
google "Ron Paul" -redstate THAT is my new news source... I don't even want to see anything of theirs anymore... Let them die the death of attrition.

If enough people ignore them....
...they will go away...... ;-)
beer isn't made from corn, whiskey is
i always thought beer was made from rice, barley, malt and hops
Corn
Barley is the grain that was traditionally used, but some beers, in particular the lighter ones that are most popular in America, use corn or rice instead or in addition to the barely.
wheat beer - yummy!
wheat beer - yummy!
You should
You should contact Tucker's show, he seems to like to point out when websites like RedState try to silence others. He's done it before, he may do it again.
Let this go already
Red State means precisely NOTHING in our progress. They are not worth the mention, they are die hard commie neo-cons that will never break free of the brainwashing they suffer from. Red State is not even relevant in our cause. I don't care if they ban Ron Paul comments forever, it isn't going to change anything we are doing. Our movement is a thousand times stronger than a pinhead site like that. Let it rest. Our grassroots effort has insiders everywhere. Red State is a minnow in an ocean of web-wide Paul supporters. I see how it could upset us, but don't let it get you down friend. They aren't worth it. In the path of life, some obstacles are better walked around, than wasting precious time on.
Agree to a degree
I don't care if they ban our comments either. But I do care that they are banning our comments and lying about it. The major news media were reporting this story. In their reports, they reported RedState was banning people who registered within the last six months from mentioning Paul. That just isn't true. That's what they claim to be doing, but what they are realliy doing is banning everyone, including longtime members, who have the audacity to mention Paul. People have a right to know the truth. Longtime Red State posters have a right to know the reason there aren't any Paul supporters among the longtime posters on Red State is not because they don't exist, but because Red State has purged all us old timers from their site. I don't think its critical, but I do think it is important. The NeoCons like to pretend there are no longtime Conservatives supporting Paul. RedState's duplicity regarding what they are really up to feeds in to this lie. They shouldn't be allowed to get away with it.
Time to MoveOn!
As I've been commenting to any news agency which does a story on it, this is NOT NEWS. They are a private right-wing pro-war blogger site---they can ban whomever they wish and spend their time agreeing with each other. That is NOT NEWS and does not justify any coverage. Likewise, I have written to GoogleNews protesting RedStates inclusion as Ron Paul News. They are not news--they are a private club, like my Grandma's bridge club. I refuse to give them ANY TRAFFIC HITS. They should also NOT continue to misrepresent themselves as a Republican Forum, they're NOT. I protest new stories in the news but avoid giving them any "free"publicity. There are better things to do with my time. I would also avoid advertisers on their site and let them know why!
