Someone in my office just handed me this flier, and i checked the site: https://www.dtv2009.gov/ Why is the goverment paying people $40 EACH to buy a converter to have more disinformation spewed into fellow Americans homes?!? » |

What the miltary doesnt take gets auctioned off and what they gave us in return was these crummy boxes :).
Many can't afford a new digital TV
The converter box allows you to watch over-the-air local TV stations, using a standard "analog" TV set. Not sure if you knew this, or refering to something else, but that's what I know of it. New TV's use a digital ATSC tuner now.
