What needs to happen on Leno?

0 votes

The Leno appearance has to be a defining moment of the campaign. Period. It is time for Ron Paul step out of the shadows and into the light. An appearance on the show in and of itself does not mean that Ron will be accepted by a mass of people. Just look at Fred's appearance. He's lazy and unenthusiastic on the trail, and he was lazy and unenthusiastic on the show. I would suggest Ron engage the audience. (a.k.a. the people)

A simple question, at an opportune moment, to the audience like, "Who wants to get this war over with?!” (No one in their right mind would pose a negative response) Or if Jay asks something along the lines of, “How do you think we should have handled Iraq, and how should we respond to Iran?” Response: “How about following the Constitution for a change!?” and then explain as he has done in the debates.

Ron has got to find the fervor he had on the Morton Downey Jr. show without turning it into an over-the-top Howard Dean moment…
I trust things will go fine, but I just wanted to air my thoughts.

Electricity

I'm not worried. RP knows his stuff. I don't expect Jay to ask questions that are too serious. At the same time, I don't expect all softballs. If he asks an insulting question like Chris Wallace asked during the Faux Snooze debates, it will probably be the last time my TV tunes in to NBC.

I doubt that happens, though. Jay doesn't take his marching orders from Al Quaeda, like Chris does.

Another unifying one-liner

Another unifying one-liner would be "Who wants to end the income tax and replace it with nothing?"

I often think he should emphasize this platform point more. There are few issues virtually every American agrees on. This is one of them. Nobody likes giving up 3-4 months worth of income.

Leno last night

Okay, so I admit I am not a regular Leno viewer, but I did tune in last night for the sole reason of hearing his guest list for the following evening. I was saddened to hear (and tune out afterwards) Leno mention Tom Cruise and the other guest, but not Ron Paul. Did anyone else catch this unfortunate oversight?

Get Adjusted: From the Womb to the Tomb!

Yup, I was watching for the same

Just like you, DrOzzy, I tuned in at the last part of the show for the sole purpose of hearing Jay mention Ron Paul. Oh well :-(

That's OK since WE all know Ron is on there and "maybe" some will tune in with Tom as the headliner only to later discover who the REAL headliner is on tonight's show .

The key is...RON IS ON TONIGHT!!!

Yes.

It doesn't matter. Dr. Paul isn't the headliner. Send flowers anyway.

For sure!

Tonight should be a victory for Liberty!

Getting off on the right foot

I hope Dr. Paul quickly identifies with the audience and the American people by reminding everyone of the dismal approval ratings of the president, the congress, and the war.

From this perspective of widespread dissatisfaction with government, two things can occur:

1. Dr. Paul's positions will be given a fair hearing. People are dissatisfied. Change is needed. Dr. Paul offers real change based on sound, well-articulated arguments.

2. In contrast to Dr. Paul, the differences between the other "top-tier" candidates will dissolve and they will be seen for what they are: establishment insiders, interested in maintaining the status quo.

If Dr. Paul can achieve these two objectives, I think the evening can be a huge success for the campaign.

The War

The war will definitely be a topic from the looks of Tom Cruise's movie. He will be promoting his movie, but not the war. It is about well-meaning young men who sign up for Afghanistan contrasted by a storyline about your typical Young Republican chickenhawk. There is also a mover and shaker senator. The film stars Tom Cruise, Robert Redford (who is the director also) and Meryl Streep. I think alot of people will be watching.

Canada Loves Ron Paul

Canada Loves Ron Paul

Ron needs to be relaxed and himself, his best self

Ron can't go wrong as long as he's the same Ron he is on the campagn trail. He has to be engaging as he is on college campuses. I just hope his handlers don't try writing any jokes for him. We all know Ron's strength is in his message, not one-liners.Leave the jokes to the Huckster.

He should just be himself

Nothing crazy.

Exactly...

A good natured, well thought, pulls no punches gentleman.

The true nature of an individual comes across through the non-verbal parts of a conversation. Considering most politicians pander and prostitute themselves to particular groups, it should not be a surprise when they seem plastic.

Have Fun

I would like to see part of the interview obviously be about introducing Ron Paul and his platform to the audience, but I would also like to see the more personable side of Ron Paul. I'd assume Leno would ask more personal questions and bring out the lighter side of Ron. I don't know if this is still true, but the Tonight Show always used to play to an older demographic. I would think showing himself as a good natured doctor and great-grandfather would do almost as much as focusing on his platform.

Yeah,if he handles this one like he did Hannity after the debate

He should knock it out of the park.

I hope he wears Stephen Colberts wriststrong bracelet and gives it to Jay on air.

Well...

@MirekChicago

I've e-mailed the campaign in the past, and I didn't receive any responses. However, I have been told and I imagine it to be true, that the campaign frequents this site looking for our ideas. Personally, I don't see myself as a subject matter expert so I don't feel as if I have the right to send someone direct correspondence telling them how to conduct themselves. This merely a suggestion because it is something that I feel would connect with me personally. Therefore, I am simply throwing it out there for others to either agree or disagree with and add their viewpoints. The campaign or Dr. Paul himself can digest this information however they see fit.

Take it as fact...

That your emails are read and simply not discarded. Off course the ideas & opinions are taken on board, but to expect a reply is probably hoping for a bit too much. Personally, I expect and would hope that with what little campaign staff RP has - 'frugality goes a long way', the efficiency of the system would blow all the other campaigns out of the water, and such - time shouldn't be wasted on courtesy replys.. The staffers have more important things to take care off; getting RP into officer :p

But yea, keep the ideas / opinions flowing. :)

Agreed...

I agree with you 100%. I don't expect replies, and do hope they are spending their time addressing issues of greater importance. That is why I maintain the Point of View that direct e-mails should be minimal and of quality. We voiced our opinions regarding the #1 commercial (although some were quite negative and not the least bit constructive) and the campaign responded with version 2.0. This topic was posted as conversation among us supporters. I simply believe It would be quite presumptuous of me to tell Ron Paul how to conduct himself in an interview.

I like when people air their

I like when people air their comments. But, if you think there is advise value in it, how about to e-mail them to campaign?

Ron will do FINE!

Just remember how Ron handled H&C after the Fox News debate a week or so ago. Ron is at his BEST when in "interview mode" vs. "sound bite hell." I have no doubt the good Doctor will do fine and win many new converts to the campaign.

Hey with 10 million viewers, we should DEFINITELY pick up some steam following this interview, as well as Good Morning America the next day and "The View" in December.
