RPIRadio (One-Time Update)
*** This is a one-time update on what's going on, as people have expressed interest. Other than notices about interviews directly related to Ron Paul candidates or Ron Paul related original/exclusive programming, you won't see anymore of these threads from me ***
What's http://www.rpiradio.com ? It's the remnants of the original Ron Paul Radio that many of you listened to last year as the rEVOLution got into high gear. Some split off into RPRR, some then split off far later to form FreeMediaNetworks (and their Ron Paul Radio channel on JustinTV), and yet others have gone on to be part of RevolutionBroadcasting.
What remains is a dedication to commercial-free broadcasting on privately-run servers, a chatroom that's been around for 9 months+, and new hosts coming on board from across the sociopolitical spectrum. JoeMac is back, ChrisInMN has never left, VTV (yes he's a real person) will be doing a show, we have inDglass from IndyTruth.org, and Shahin from #deprogram. There are also people within the Libertarian Party who have expressed interest in having regular shows (on the issues), and many interviews including "Byron" which some of you may remember from previous appearances on JoeMac's show.
Our station runs on $250/mo for the streams, call-in number, archival, loops... basically everything but video. We're in the process of revamping the website and getting the schedule set in stone. Over the next week people will be on the air, and loops will once again be freedom-related (as much as we all loved mdh's music...).
In other words: we're coming back. If you ever listened last year, if you heard the Leno clip made on someone's cellphone, if you knew about the WV delegate deal before the media had any idea (and then misreported it), if you were up at midnight in the chatroom waiting to click for that Money Bomb donation, if you were around when Ron Paul gave the station a shout-out, or if you've ever just wanted to yell at me or mdh (even for this thread), check us out. Contributions are greatly appreciated, as the provider who had issues last month has not yet granted the refund promised, so we're looking for a few more dollars (not a few more hundred) to get us through the month.
We aren't looking to become the new MSM. We're looking for those few hundred listeners we had before, and to be a commercial-free outlet for thought, taking a page from Dr. Paul himself: As long as there's money, we'll keep going, and "unity should be secondary to our principles"... our principles have and will remain the same Thanks for your time, and hope to see you soon.

a few more dollars

Ads & Business Planning
Addressing both posts at once so this doesn't double-bump ;)
"Google Ads" is being considered, and additional ad streams, however the efficiency of such ads is questionable as of right now. Our promise to be commercial-free should extend to the website also, imo, so it is likely we will display only grassroots and political ads which will appeal to the target audience. (This is not to bash sites that display "random" ads, or any other method.) There are also other revenue stream ideas which were tabled when the original founder of Ron Paul Radio removed a significant bit of money from the organization and left with it. The systems still exist, it's just a matter of priorities. Getting good hosts set up and on the air is the first thing, before any extensive advertising and additional revenue streams.
On the business planning subject (post below), the entire model is designed to be self-sustaining. Nothing wrong with capitalism, but this is not meant to be income for anyone. When the money runs out, so does the service. There is no profit, nor will there be. There may be drives for specific events (such as, for a potential example, funds to secure internet and/or credentials at the RNC) or equipment, but the hosts have always simply covered what they can, as they can. The appeal of our station has always been that it's your peers: boots on the ground freedom-lovers.
~Thank you~
To those who helped us reach our May goal and exceed it! It's greatly appreciated :)
Virtual Business Planning
It would benefit rpiradio / and other True Core grass-root projects manifesting out of the Ron Paul Presidential Candidacy to engage in an on-line creation of a Business & Marketing and Sales Plan. This would be fun, energizing and send a mature, respectful mesage to Dr. Paul himself that " We " have got the message he is promoting and are putting it into positive action. These planning sessions would do us all good for many, many reasons (not to mention the Fact it will generate funds) needed for the ultimate success of these projects. There are a lot of experienced and good natured supporters and we need to realize and act appropriately.
Thanks...
