The world is NOT over populated. There is plenty of food to go around. we are not running out of oil. There is enough oil to last another 500 yrs factoring in predicted increases in usage. What is happeing is that the west is dying.

Related to this article is the simple fact that the earth IS overpopulated, and whether it happens in the long-term or short-term, the population of the earth is going to have to go down. Most serious ecologists and population experts realize that we are already far beyond the long-term carrying capacity of the earth, which is estimated at between one and three billion people. We have only been able to get to this point without collapse already because we have, collectively, been essentially "mining" our global ecosphere, unsustainably, and like Americans of the last few decades, living beyond our means. We can create the illusion of long-term prosperity in the short run by using up resources that took hundres, thousands, or millions of years to create ---- petroleum is just one example, but a good one.
Thousands of acres of cropland are being lost annually to erosion, salinization, urban sprawl and other factors, some of it land that realistically should never have been put under culitvation in the first place. And that is just one factor out of dozens or hundreds in which we are facing calamity in the long-term. But who thinks about the long term anymore?
For an excellent book on this topic, I highly recommend the book by Jared Diamond, "Collapse: How Societies Choose to Succeed or Fail". And by the way, the author does point out more than once that by ignoring the obvious and backing ourselves into a corner ecologically, we only invite larger and more intrusive government, and more and more resource wars as an inevitable result.
This is not "green gospel" at all ---- it is fact that we doom ourselves by ignoring.
total bunk! there is plenty of oil (we should, however, get away from it)...there is plenty of farmland (we should, however, farm it)...and, if people overpopulate they will die out in that region (what can we do)...quit using "scare" tactics about things unreal and focus your energy on things real (like our strangling government that tells much the same lies you do)...i repeat, your post is BUNK! and your cited author (if you want to call him that) is skewering the data to fit his flawed analysis (societies' leaders choose to succeed or fail and take the sheeple with them)...that's what WE are trying to prevent...help us out or show yourself the way out...

Famine and hunger have more to do with politics and weather, not overpopulation. All the people of the world could fit in Texas with plenty of space, and all the food to feed them could be grown in a state the size of Kansas. This is true. It is the elites who want us to believe that the world is overpopulated because they want less of us, so it will be easier to control us. So many of our problems are from having so few children, now there will be not enough people to take care of the elderly pretty soon. And look at the cultures esp. in Europe who are completely dying out because they didn't have enough children to make up for their dying people.
Actually, we ARE overpopulated. Yes, you can fit any random number of people in any random amount of space, but so what? The earth still can only support only so many people ---- LONG TERM. Again, in the short term, it can support more, but only temporarily. The Mayan homeland today supports maybe one or two million people, but at their height the Mayans numbered five to ten million. However, the capacity of the land to support this number was eventually exceeded, and their entire cilivization predictably crashed.
The issue is not room for people ---- it is the ability of the earth to support human population in the long term, and just what is the maximum number that it can indefinitely sustain. That number is not arbitrarily large, and technology is not always going to come to our rescue. Certain economists, like Julian Simon, have made complete fools of themselves on this issue, looking at it only from an economic point of view.
Besides, no offense to anyone from India, but is that the model for our future that we want to emulate? A desperately overcrowded country in which the majority live in hopeless squalor? Aren't we smarter than that?
"we" are not overpopulated...there are a billion chinese and they all have plenty of rice to eat...they will not starve...sending it to africa, well, they probably won't do that...just because some parts of africa need to focus more on birth control does not mean world overpopulation...actually, the population of the white (and black) christian is shrinking so the world is NOT overpopulated...i live in tennessee where about 12 people live per square mile (don't like where you are at? too crowded? move here...but quit crying about overpopulation and causing people to lose focus about the REAL problem...gov't strangulation and lies...much like your lies...like i said, help us out or show yourself the way out...INDIA? God, you are a loser! focus on OUR GOV'T STRANGULATION...quit CHANGING THE SUBJECT...troll!

But I do know the Mayan population crashed through many factors; human sacrifices, wars internally, wars externally, spaniards, a shift from agriculture to State worship. I could go on and on.

I don't want to debate it really, just wanted to show that there are differing viewpoints. I, being a Christian, take mine because of the first 3 commands in the Bible (to people, obviously not counting "Let there be light" etc. ) Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth is the one i am talking about. Remember the Tower of Babylon was a direct disobedience of this command, and God dealt with them. I am not trying to make this a religious discussion, just explaining my viewpoint. But remember that the elitists were the ones who started planned parenthood, bringing about the present view that we should all have only a couple of children, when before planned parenthood, it was considered a blessing to have many.
Agreed, hopefulfilled. Yes, the issue can and has been used by globalists to further their own agenda, which is why I brought it up with some trepidation in the first place. I certainly did not want to come across as some Chinese state abortionist agency saying "We need to reduce population --- and here is how the government is going to do it."
NOTHING I stated implies any desire to see governments coercively trying to reduce populations anywhere. I was just trying to point out that the earth does have limits, and ignoring that fact just sets us up for disaster.
"We have met the enemy and he is us." We need to stop blaming overpopulation and start looking at how we personally utilize the resources of this planet. Part of the problem is the global elite don't want to talk about that because they are huge gluttons. Think about the resources one American uses compared to hundreds of people in 3rd world countries. If we were better with our resources, then the world could be fed for a lot longer. I, for one, won't buy the overpopulation scenario unless I look at how I am wasting the resources myself.

Hi akak,
This is how I see it, yes, the earth may have limits (if we think so), however, God has no limits (except if we think so, which then limits God).
If science were turned around and used for practical ways to maximize nutrition output instead of concentrating on population control (wars, financial control, dumbing down of the population through drugs, chemicals etc by the imaginations of the scared elite, I'm sure that the earth would indeed be able to handle more souls in embodiment.
However, this may require a spiritual revolution as well to work. I think that a spiritual revolution is in fact taking place behind or in congruency with our own little revolution here on DP (and elswhere) as people are waking up more and more. Religion should not be used as a means to divide and conquer but rather to bring all people closer to God (regardless of race, denomination, creed etc).
In any case, miracles do happen, we just have to see them for what they are and be grateful, do our best and keep on keeping on. As has been said, "Seek and ye shall find". We have to be practical, but we cannot limit God. Pray and thereby invite God to come into action in our lives and on our little planet.

I think he was thinking of how the Constitution was written by these Europeans, coming down from the Magna Carta, etc etc. (although it was also copied somewhat from the Iroquois nation.) I think that his worry was that with the illegal immigration from Mexico, it is not the race he was worried about, but the fact that they have voted in Communist dictators, and now will vote here. And also, Muslims tend to want dictators, etc. I don't think it was totally a race thing at all.

We have all fallen for the establishment's planned parenthood (planned barrenhood) lies. Okay, you young people, have lots of children. We want lots of little freedom loving people running around. We did our part, we had 6 children, and now have 16 , going on 18 grandchildren, and two of our children are still children yet. Look at the numbers! They multiply rapidly. Hey, and grandchildren are what you live for when you get older.

We have ten children and one granddaughter, so far. If all my children have ten children, we will have 100 grandchildren. If all those grandchildren had ten children, we would have 1000 great-grandchildren. If we do a great job of educating them and keeping them out of the government indoctrination centers, they can do a lot of good.
We need to think long term. We need to quit falling for all the scare tactics of the elite. We need lots of freedom loving, dominion taking people running around.
